England|Summer '23: Four stunning Lake District mountain passes made for motorcycling!

Greetings KZfaq! Join me as I head from the Lake District to Scotland via four iconic Lakeland passes. It's a motorcyclist's playground... Newlands Pass, Honister Pass, Wrynose Pass and Hardknott Pass.

Love it. I did the Hardknot on my Goldwing, fully loaded with luggage and my wife on pillion a couple of years back. I didn't really know what to expect and was surprised how challenging it was. My technique was just to attack it standing on the pegs, and we even had a couple of GS's pull over to let us pass 😆.

Wow! Two up on a loaded Goldwing? Nothing but respect there; it was tough enough a few years ago solo on my old Electraglide!! 😂

What a beautiful day you had in a summer of rain. Rather you than me on Hardnott pass. I can't even do it in a car without feeling queasy!

I did the four passes in April travelling from Northern Ireland on my Kawasaki GTR 1400. Yes on a big bike the Hardknott pass is a lot of fun😂😂😂😂😂

newland pass what road is that? is it the B5289?

Hi John, I'm not sure if it counts as the B5289. It starts (or ends) by turning off the B5289 in Buttermere, just opposite the Skye Farm Tea Room...
