Did you see the saka hassle, grab ball, run\fight his way to the right byline, put a low cross into the penalty area on the spot, in the first 20m? Kane from the 18yrd box never broke into a run. Strikers bust a gut for cutbacks to penalty spot.

Foden and Kane were poor again but it was a slight improvement for the team overall. Honestly, don’t know what to make of Phil Foden anymore. We’ve been told that he is one of the most talented players England have ever produced, a big game player and one of the best players in the world. For Man City he looks like that but for the national team I’ve never seen this. He looks like an average player who picks the wrong pass, over or under hits it, poor movement and doesn’t show well for the ball when an attack is building. Maybe he’s a player that only works well in that one team but the best can look good wherever they play.

@@lacontagium7125I watched a "world class" attacking player put in 5 shit crosses, lose half of his dribbles, and create very little all game. Def looked better on the right compared to his appearances on the left, but for the Premier League POTS to have 0 moments so far in this tournament.... shocking

I feel like we’ve done everything Southgate can do to make life easier for Foden, tried him at LW twice, failed, tried him in the middle twice, failed. Tried him in the right once, failed. At some point it’s no longer everyone else job to help him, he needs to finally do something, and he can’t. Let’s wake up now and admit he can’t do it outside the City system, nothing wrong with that. Let’s move on, either give Palmer those minutes or try Gordon, I’m happy with either. Stop punishing Saka to try and make Foden play half decent.

Foden should not be starting. Toney, Gordon or Watkins should be instead. Nevertheless, the penalties were superb. Indeed, I recall, from a kid up until the current day, the following: - Italia '90, Semi against Germany (Pearce and Waddle missed). - Euro '96 against Germany (Southgate missed). - France '98, Second Round against Argentina (Ince and Batty missed). - Euro 2004, against Portugal (Beckham and Vassell missed). - Euro 2012, Quarter Final against Italy (Young and Cole missed). - Euro 2020(21), against Italy in the final (Rashford, Sancho and Saka all missed). So it's safe to say, the history with penalties is far from comforting. Hence, the gravity of the penalty success today.

Foden is a good player in a Pep team where it has 1000 of hrs to drill tiki taka passing patterns. That is undisputed... But too bad for him this is SG ball and there is no thousands of hours to practice and players need to take initiative. Players like Bellingham, Saka performs. Foden does not.

Honestly, I still dont see trent working in that position; his greatest strength is his crossing, yet he was positioned in such a way that he never had the opportunity to cross... I'm also not really sure that the formation was actually a back 5 today, it was all the same players in all the same positions as before, except for a little more positivity from trippier when in possession. I'll stop talking before I bring any more bad vibes into you comment section 😂

If u r playing a back 5, it is utter insanity not so start with TAA at RB, so infuriatingly over cautious. I like eze too bt hes a no 10. He doesn’t work in a starting lineup. Also a great signing for liverpool who lack someone really top drawer in tht position. Southgate has been endearingly 🍀 with every draw, bt Im not sure thts a talent - england wld sill benefit from fate without him. Bt the second he plays someone half decent, he loses.

For me it looked like the Swiss had the better scoring chances overall, but just lacked the quality on the ball. England still doesn't look very convincing to me.

I usually value your opinion really much, however, for a squad of that calibre england is just scamming their way through. Southgate is a joke, the team only starts performing after they go down 1:0 and the "tactics" from the manager fly out the window. Only had a chance because there is so much individual talent on the squad. You can't be proud of the performance during this tournament as a player, team or manager, lucky for all the fans that there's enough talent to win it back somehow. Switzerland is a really solid team for what they are working with and would have deserved the win overall, but that's foorball.

You actually think Gareth makes everyone feel like they have a role? He plays the same guys even if it is obvious that some of them don’t belong on the pitch every game. Kane should have been subbed off after 65 min. Anthony Gordon should have been brought on today at 70 min. He has wasted the likes of Toney, Watkins and Gordon. When he does make changes it is way too late for my money. He is the opposite of your description of him Lawrence.

Just put the mic on your shirt. Please. England is a mess. That was Saka’s first positive impact on the game. Yea that goal was amazing and world class, but that should be happening more regularly. That was their best game but they do not move into open spaces that screams for an open pass. Cole Palmer deserves to start and so does Trent. Declan needs to step into the large spaces and scream for it because he’s overdue for a goal.

To be fair to Saka he made quite a few runs down the right in the first half beating defenders but there was no-one on the end of his crosses. To say the goal was his first positive impact is denying the chances he set up in the first half. He was by a country mile the best player on the pitch.
