I made sure to pause the video to complete the tasks this time. Answers to quiz: 1. I turn on the computer to see what I've missed out on. 2. My parents and grandparents. 3. Dreams are erased from our memory as our brains are now focusing on reality. They're preparing us for the rigors of the day.

Hello Jennifer! Nice to see you! Thanks a lot for the lesson! Using phrasal verbs is a challenge to me. I prefer to think that a phrasal verb is a new word and the blank between the verb and preposition is an extra letter. My examples: Nobody can get back to the past. I look up to you! If I don't know the word, I'm going to look it up in the dictionary. After several years of studying English, I've figured out that getting good speaking skills takes a lot of time and effort.
@Englishwithjennifer

Hi Sergei.😃 Nobody can go back to the past. ("Go" is better for traveling, like time travel.) Here's a good question for 2021: When will things get back to normal? If I don't know the word, I look it up in the dictionary. (Better to use the simple present for regular habits.)
@sergeipetrov5572
@sergeipetrov5572 3 жыл бұрын
@@Englishwithjennifer Thank you, Jennifer! I got it. Nevertheless, I suppose that the difference in the meanings is not so big in my first sentence. I'll take it into account for the future. BTW, I think that when most people get a vaccination, things will get back to normal soon enough.
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Here's an interesting way to consider the difference. Have you ever seen the trilogy Back to the Future? The main character, Marty, goes back to 1955 by mistake. He belongs in 1985. Then he returns to 1985, but after visiting 2015, he needs to go back to 1955 for a second time. He asks for help because he doesn't know how to get back to 1955 on his own. Here "get" is more like "reach." Reach that point again. A little confusing, but reread my summary of the plot and see if you can feel the difference. BTW, I agree with you. Vaccination will make a difference. In some U.S. states, they say life is already getting back to normal. Not in mine yet.
@sergeipetrov5572

@@Englishwithjennifer Thank you again, Jennifer! Yes, I've seen the trilogy Back to the Future. After your brilliant explanation, I feel the difference in using these words. My work on the bugs: Nobody can get back to their past if only in their dreams. I mean something like a thought from the quote: "None can enter the same river twice" by Heraclitus (in my translation). Jennifer, please, stay safe. Soon all will be well!

Being ill, I couldn't feel like getting out yesterday. 4.Thankfully he gave up alcohol otherwise, he would have ruined his health by now. 5. As he grew up in a modest setting, he used to down to earth. 6. He would always look up to his mother for advice. 7. Our team has been performing well however, I fail to understand how we ended up losing the final. Please check my grammar! Thanks Jennifer!

Happy to see you practicing, Hilal. You've certainly figured out what works for you! Suggestions: 1. We have set up a meeting for tomorrow. 2. Correct. 3. Being ill, I didn't feel like going out yesterday. (Since I was sick,...) 4.Thankfully he gave up alcohol. Otherwise, he would have ruined his health by now. 5. As he grew up in a modest setting, he's very down-to-earth. 6. He would always look to his mother for advice. He loved, trusted her, and looked up to her. (Look to someone for something = seek) 7. Our team had been performing well. However, I fail to understand how we ended up losing the final.

Thank you for all your support video clips. I cannot figure out all phrasal verbs easily as English is not a part of my everyday life but I prefer watching your channel as much as possible. And if I may ask, how have you figure out Meghan Markle, the way she is?
@Englishwithjennifer
@Englishwithjennifer 3 жыл бұрын
Glad you're learning with me. Have you seen my lesson on modals? kzfaq.info/get/bejne/is6paqabvKrFiGg.html I talk about the Royals a bit. As for Meghan, I'm sorry she experienced adversity in her new life as part of the royal family. Then again, she should have known what she was getting herself into. Her background as an American, as an actress, and as a divorced woman wasn't going to help her fit into British society at that level. She and Harry can pursue happiness on their own now.

Hi! (1) I'm the same way. I like to get things in order before I allow myself to rest. You can say: I unpack and then put away my suitcase. I clean up things around the house. (2) Hopefully, there are people now who inspire you a bit, even if you don't exactly look up to them. (3) That's what some say. We need to wake up, so our brain discards all the fiction.
