As a former football club director, I know for a fact that she had a legal duty to always act in the best interests of the club. That is a fundamental responsibility. If she actually did what she said she did... and I personally think she's full of shit... she could and should be in a lot of trouble. As a second point, why on earth did the others in that conversation not call her out on it?

@@unknown11215Easily. You can’t artificially influence a price of a commodity by creating phoney interest. Man City and Guardiola are specifically mentioned; not that it actually happened. But it’s deformation of character. Not to mention she’s in breach of her own contract by saying she’s actually done this in her job - which is going against her contract with Aston Villa. Her contract will state that she will act with integrity and ethics in conjunction with Aston Villa. She’s basically opened herself up to be sued by Aston Villa for breach of contract & business fraud. Also by Man City for deformation of character, by suggesting they operate in similar ways. (Keep in mind this is a club which is currently under investigation for 115 breaches of financial irregularities. And I’d imagine that his majesty’s customs & revenue will be very interested in looking into wherever she’s worked at prior to this position and going through everything she’s ever sanctioned because of her lack of awareness in the business world. This is always a problem when you employ a former player in a commercial business role. They don’t have a clue about legal presidency’s. In simple terms: She’s absolutely shagged it. Simon Jordan actually did really well in the following interview by shepherding the conversation away from her initial comments - because as a career businessman he understands perfectly that what she’s just said could effectively ruin her life if the wrong people hear it. Whilst she’s talking to Ally Mccoist it’s relatively safe; because he’s just a former player - he has no knowledge of what is legal or not, or what is fraudulent or not.

Yes, it can be but it largely depends on the facts. At the very least, in my opinion, it can be viewed as a conspiracy to defraud (common law offence). If she has made false statements/representations (which seems to be the case) to her boss and/or other parties then the Fraud Act comes into play. I am truly shocked that someone would openly admit to large scale market manipulation. The women's game needs to be investigated if what she is saying is true. In terms of civil law, various parties could legitimately sue. I am a lawyer of 8 years.

Said it at the time, but what was more amazing was how she spent the next week in interviews reiterating her beliefs without recognising the level of amorality in her actions or allegations of fraud in others, let alone showing how little she understands the commercial and legal sides of the business... as a sporting director! the fact she has kept employment says a lot about the women's game. even harry would have struggled to get himself out of such a clanger.

Of course it's fraud and illegal. She admitted to telling lies and scheming to make someone (her boss) into paying millions of pounds more than they need to. If no other teams submits an offer for that player, then her boss has paid millions more than they needed to, that is the definition of fraud. What do the other teams director(her oppositenumber) get out of the deal, and she would get a percentage bonus for getting that player
