Home warranty sucks. Home warranty customers are the worst type of customers to have. They want it fixed yesterday and free. Im glad I moved to commercial/industrial/refrigeration HVAC.

I gotta give you credit for being patient with the homeowner. I skipped the whole residential service end and went straight to commercial. I try to be polite as possible but when a store manager tells me what he or she thinks the problem is my response was then why did you call us? I can't imagine having a homeowner over my shoulder. Gotta give you credit because as annoying as people can be they are you're bread and butter.. nice work!

I did a job for American Home Shield once . Condenser fan motor replacement. It took them 3 months and after multiple phone calls to finally pay the $400. That was it for me. Never again.

We tell our customers, “You pay us and then we submit the info to AHS and you try to get reimbursed from them.” We always collect on site, if the customer doesn’t agree to it then we don’t go out.

I’m sorry my friend, this is why I got out of residential customers. I now work for a large company that has many specialized buildings that are cooled 24/7/365. I’m a first responder for All buildings automation alarms from sump pumps to low / high temperatures/ fire alarms and rarely deal with cra cra people anymore besides internal crazy’s. I like your approach in diagnostics and have enjoyed all vids so far. Keep on keeping on my friend!!

Had a home warranty customer call me at 11 pm one night accusing me of fixing her unit but sabotaging her other one lol and had another that had already had 3 other companies out and told him the same thing we did and got mad and threw a lawn chair at myself and my partner. Both cases we contacted the warrant company and advised them we were no longer going to service those customers and went about our business. Remember it's up to you whether you want to accept a call or not. We had far more customers who would specifically request us and would refuse any other company they tried to send out.

I once had a customer say to me that I can't put my thermometers in his ducts while In the attic while I was getting a delta t 😅 meanwhile it's 120 degrees in the attic 😂

Home warranties were invented to help realtors sell houses with mechanical issues. Oh, we're going to throw in a home warranty in case something goes wrong. If you actually look at what a home warranty covers it's basically nothing because of all the fine print that excluded. They would have rebuilt my unit 2X over replacing coils and installing compressors vs installing a new unit. I asked to exit their plan and got money out of them to put towards the installation of a new unit.

And that's why i would never deal with a warranty company, 😂 what a waste of money and time, like if it was the customers call just fix and recharge or replace up to him really. Too much hassles.

Customer says it is same problem as last year. He is only saying this because he wants someone else to pay for his problems. Thermostat not even level. This is the most hated customer in the business.

He informed the warranty company that this issue is the same one we encountered in June 2023. I'm considering passing on this job unless they agree to my bid. I haven't received a response from them yet.

Mark, I don't think that's what he was saying. I played it again and he was only describing the behavior (blowing but not cooling) and the process the warranty company used for the claim. He wasn't saying it was the same failure. Even if it was the same failure, and he could convince the wty company of that, all he would save is another deductible. As long as he still has warranty coverage, they are obliged to pay for the repairs, related or not (assuming this is a covered item per the policy). And IMO, I don't think he was being unreasonable or difficult.

Hey I am one of those helicopter customers, but I like to learn. I find the trades so fascinating and how people troubleshoot. I am an IT guy so figuring things out troubleshooting is what I know. I hover so I can learn how to check the things I can on my own without expensive tools guys Ike this guy aren’t coming out to fix a simple issue. I had that happen a few years back, we bought an older home and got a home warranty. Luckily I paid only the copay for some guy to come out and suck on a tube for the sensor for the draft inducer motor that just got stuck for on the unit sitting for a while. Good knowledge to know so you can troubleshoot yourself before calling the pros and saving you money/tme at the same time

I pay $20 a month for my home warranty. I know it takes two weeks to get anything fixed but I've gotten a condenser 1 year and an evap coil the next and was out of pocket less than $500. Works sometime.

I work for a company that works with AHS. it's the only business the company gets and it's plentiful in the summer. These customers cry about so much not realizing that they pay 1600 a year, if they have platinum, for everything ie electrician, garage door, pool, appliances, etc... Hvac alone can easily be over 1600 so stfu complaining .. *sigh*
