6 days into starting microlocs again. All I've used was water, Nizoral shampoo for scalp issues, and rose water to moisturize. I used a little cantu shea butter for the installation, but I washed it out the best I could. I've washed it 3x so far. It's addicting because of how easy it is now. Started with 2 strand twists and I have not bundled my hair because the longest I went before cutting my locs was 4 months and I never braided and banded, but they didn't unravel. Guess my hair is the type that doesn't need it with twists

Hi, your locs are nice! I love all the info you are sharing. I'm glad I found your channel. I am newly loc'd, 2 months in. Should I spray some form of water on my locs daily? My daughter started my locs, so I call them DIYs. I've gone to two different stylists for the two retightening, and both gave me different information. The first one said band before washing, wash every 7 days, and retighten every 4-6 weeks. The next one said, no need to band before washing, wash every 3 weeks, and retighhten every 6-8 weeks. I'm confused! What do you recommend. My locs were started with interlocking, I have 4C colored hair, and I have not noticed any unraveling.
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty Жыл бұрын
How often to shampoo depends on you. I usually recommend every week to two weeks. For the frequency of retightening, meet both in the middle. One is recommending 4-6 and the other 6-8, so go with a 6 week schedule. If your locs are not matured, then bundle before shampooing to be safe since I can't examine your hair. Since your hair is color treated, spray with a water-base leave in conditioner or Aloe vera base. You don't want your locs to be too dry Since color can be very drying. Hope that helped

Your ends will definitely loc but if left alone, it'll loc with bunching. If you have me than inch open, I braid or two strand twist the ends to keep it from bunching. Braid and band before washing to keep them from unraveling. Hope that helps

@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. I would definitely recommend that you talk to a dermatologist to see what they recommend is best for your hair. If your dermatologist give you the okay on oils, then doing prepoos before shampooing is great and using very lightweight oil is good too. But seek advice from a dermatologist first. Also check these videos out kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bbNxp9ah18faZo0.html and kzfaq.info/get/bejne/heB6fruQyrzZZn0.html you might find relatable and helpful tips

@@devonac34 got you. Yes, I do allow my clients with scalp issues to oil their scalp when they are newly locd. As long the oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly on the scalp. Maybe it's obvious but i want to completely clarify your meaning. With the salt water, do we let that dry into the hair? @EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
Yikes! If you colored without lifting/bleaching, use a daily leave-in conditioner (lightweight, water base). Use everyday! If you bleached/lightened your hair, it's very hard to keep it moisturized with new locs. At this point, I would recommend Olaplex bond repair kit (amzn.to/3iyNSVJ). But you want to make sure you are very cautious with how you use it. I would always band when using the products and keep in protective styles to keep it from slipping. Band the ends before shampoo. Keep it band through the entire process. Let it dry in the bands. When you take it down, put it in a protective style. You may still have some shedding but it should reduce it. Please check with your consultant as this isn't what most would recommend with new locs. But if nothing is done, all the bleached part will break off but you'll have the new growth. Hope this helps and best of luck.

If you started with interlocs, braidlocs, twostrandtwistlocs, or instalocs, you can wash whenever you want. The main thing is to make sure that you are banding the ends before you shampoo to keep your ends from unraveling and creating slippage. Please watch my video on bundling your locs to ensure you are bundling properly.

The sisterlocs starter shampoo can be used on your entire head. That's what it's for. Braid and band before shampooing so you don't have any unraveling. But other than that, you should be able to cleanse your scalp and hair with the shampoo.

Since you're a newbie, you'd want to stick to a clarifying shampoo. If you bleached your hair to blonde, you'll have to do some extra stuff to keep it from breaking. Please talk to your loctician for advice. For my clients, I have them use leave-in conditioners, rose water, etc to help give it moisture. But you're loctician may want you to do something different.

I have sisterlocs. My hair grows outside of the loc and I work out daily, so my hair looks frizzy all the time. Is there anything I can do?
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty Жыл бұрын
Putting your hair in a protective style (braid/twistout) while working out and letting it dry before taking it down can help.

I did get my interlock micro locs on August 29th. My scalp started to itch really bad and I have scales on my scalp I different areas. The loctician who is not a cosmetologist told me not to wash my hair. She will was it on September 28, 2021. I am over this already. I have been using a wet Q-tip. It is not working. What would you suggest?
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
She's telling you not to wash because she doesn't want your locs to slip (probably base on your texture). I understand that but I say wash it if you're comfortable with these steps. Bundle your ends really well (braid all the way to tips and rubber band ends tightly, let dry completely before taking it out of the bundle (maybe take it out the next day)). If you wish to hold out on the washing, use witch hazel or aloe vera juice on a cotton ball and use it to cleanse your scalp. I would also recommend seeing a dermatologist to ensure you don't have a scalp condition. Hope that helps, love.

Hi, I was just locked 9/14/22. My scalp was dry and itchy as well. My loctitian suggested making a rosemary leaf tea. I got some whole rosemary leaves from a vitamin shop. I put about 2tbsp of leaves and approximately 1&1/4c of water then steep for about 10-15 min. It should look like apple juice in color. Let it cool, put in your bottle and spray your scalp like 3x a week. I’ve heard rose water works as well. Good luck and I hope this helps.

You can start off using the spray about once a week. But always feel your hair often and in between to gauge when to reduce usage.

Why am I scared of using my salt water? My brother who lives near the sea brought me a bottle and it's sitting in my wardrobe. I want my hair to lock naturally but I'm also getting a bit anxious and I'm also scared of drying it out and causing damage. Any tips on how often and under what circumstances (eg. Before shampooing) we should spray our hair with salt water? Thanks in advance
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty 2 жыл бұрын
If you have actual sea water, spraying it one time will give you the desired effect. So one time is sufficient. But don't use it if you want to preserve your curly ends.

Why not add a loc (very short) extension to the ends so no one needs to bundle & braid before washing or wetting new loc’s?
@EnToiBeauty
@EnToiBeauty Жыл бұрын
That's a possibility if the person wants extensions. Not everyone wants extension or want to pay for extra work. And with the sisterlocs brand, it wouldn't be considered sisterlocs if extensions are added.

@@EnToiBeauty Thank you so much for replying! I am having my grid redone for even parting and added loc’s. I feel this will make it easier to retighten my new growth by myself. I will add the extensions so that I will not have to braid & band before washing. I plan to instant loc and using the 0.35mm hook add the extensions, then interlock the roots/new growth as needed myself. Thank you for sharing your experience, advice and enthusiasm with so much joy! You are a treasure!🏆
