Ep. 42 Vintage Cars & Motorbikes in our Chateau Grounds!

After a week of rain, the sun came out for our first Spring Fair! We had a spectacular display of vintage cars and motorbikes in the courtyard, and in the house, an art exhibition, featuring Jean Pierre Blanchard, Joël Achard and Annick Vallenet. Due to the new venue and fear of mud, the turnout from brocaneurs was not as I had hoped, but I was very grateful for those who did come, as I found a wonderful treasure, for just one Euro! All in all, we had a wonderful day, and are so grateful to our community of neighbours, most especially Gerard, Kylian, Stéphan, and Marie Therese of Open Ar't, who made the day such a success.

Bonjour Jenny such a fabulous event the vintage cars and bikes the highlight of conversation and enjoyed with wine made in the region the art display just magnificent my life was full of creativity markets festivals you’ve bought my enthusiasm and love of a fulfilling lifestyle back I would of set up a stall if I lived in your region well done to you and hubby most enjoyable I shall rewatch Amore my love💖💖😘😘👌👌🌟🌟

I'm sure your events will grow with time and perhaps more advertising. Love the art displayed in the house-these pieces will draw the crowds from far afield. Maybe some music? Loved the video-thank you!

What great weather! I'm sure all the village appreciates your generosity, sharing your home and grounds. It must have been lovely to walk over and browse the brocante, check out the autos and bikes, then have a sausage and those delicious-looking fries, followed by a glass or three of your neighbor's cognac. What do people use on fries there, catsup, mayo, vinegar? American catsup would be my choice, of course, LOL! Amazing to watch the painter! Thanks!

Hi CAMom, Yes it was great to have a brocante, the restaurant and such great bikes, cars and paintings in our own grounds! I think mostly the French each French fries just with salt, but sometime they have katchup on them. 😋

H8 Jenny ! So nice to hear hubby’s confidence if would be a success! What an incredible variety of motorbikes and cars! The artwork inside the house looked fantastic! The food and drinks looked mouthwatering .and your donkey cigarette dispenser, what a find indeed. I’d seen it before, as a kid in Italy. Well done on a successfull event!!

I had the donkey and the elephant smoke dispenser the Republicans and the Democrats party's put them out years ago..I had them still in the boxes and sold them at a sale when I move ten years ago..

Lovely! The area in font of the cave could be put to good use. If you pulled those random bushes and trees, Installed stone pavers and set up small tables people could sit and enjoy the brocante and future events even more. Cheers!

Even though your Brocante did not have many stalls this year , I believe as your channel grows , as you host more events and retreats your venue will grow each year as your names get circulated. These Brocantes get known by word of mouth. The next one will have more stalls and more people attending, weather permitting. It will become a regular village event. I love the sketches of you two!

Word will spread….and that you can offer space under cover in the big barn if inclement weather….a big plus. Did you have an area for children or even animals to show them. Is there a ‘sheep to shawl’ type of event so the process can be done over the course of the day? Maybe that is more a fall activity. What about the timing….is this too early in spring to show the farmers food items/specialty items for the region, or flowering plants for the gardens (always a wonderful seller!)

Very well done to organize this brocante at home. Did you mention you put an ad on a specialized Brocantes websites ? I know 2 French famous ones, Sabradou and Brocabrac.
