Drew Thornton is the FOH Engineer for Billie Eilish and since the industry shut down in March, he started this project named A Sum of Two Busses. He will be diving into his front of house rig for Billie's live show. While using some virtual soundcheck he will be walking you through some of his tips, tricks, and approaches while demonstrating interesting things that the Allen and Heath's DLive console and Waves SuperRack has to offer.
His goal is to make some fun and interesting videos focused around live sound mix engineering, the Dlive, Waves Soundgrid and share some tips, tricks and theories regarding live sound.

I've been using automation on a Profile for 13 years and just switched to an Avantis. The concepts and implementation are very similar. Just had a few hiccups the first shows. Drew hits every nail on the head here, probably the best such demo I've seen. So if you're new to automation watch this repeatedly and you will get it down. I had over 250 scenes stored on the old desk.Haven't messed with Embedded scenes yet but just a matter of time. Thanks, Drew, whole series is great!

Great stuff as usual. I also started with only automating FX and that’s pretty much where I ended. Definitely should look into doing mutes and love the idea of presets for fader layout since I’m on a C1500! Thanks again Drew!

Great 'Console Automation 101' primer there buddy! My favorite aspect of your channel is that my only hands on experience with the D-Live is the stuff I've done with you guys, and now I know where to find the relative scene update among other things! It's a surprisingly powerful system, bearing in mind my previous A&H digital experience was one show on a GLD about a decade ago..

Thanks dude! Yea I would say I didn’t have ANY experience with A&H beforehand and I didn’t really dig the iLive stuff. But I do this platform if it isn’t too obvious 😂. Seriously tho, thanks for checking it out dude. And we missed you on this last one. Was hoping to see you dude!!

It should be the same on a Avantis because it works pretty much the same as the dLive

I actually just revisited that and it is nice, but for some reason a year ago it wasn’t doing quite what I wanted it to do. I do think fading is the way to go tho.
