Episode 8: This episode is all about multiband dynamics. Focusing on the F6 for dynamic eq and the dLive's DYN8 for multiband compression and dynamic eq.

Drew Thornton is the FOH Engineer for Billie Eilish and since the industry shut down in March, he started this project named A Sum of Two Busses. He will be diving into his front of house rig for Billie's live show. While using some virtual soundcheck he will be walking you through some of his tips, tricks, and approaches while demonstrating interesting things that the Allen and Heath's DLive console and Waves SuperRack has to offer.
His goal is to make some fun and interesting videos focused around live sound mix engineering, the Dlive, Waves Soundgrid and share some tips, tricks and theories regarding live sound.

There are not enough guys out there sharing their work from a live sound engineer perspective. So many of the "studio tools" are more and more available in this digital era, so these are super refreshing to see in action!

Hi Drew, thanks for this video! The DYN8 is a monster for sure. I am quite fluid on MBCs and DEQs, but the Dyn8 is different kind of beast since it can do so much and it kinda makes you work for it as well. Should spend some time with it while I can these days I guess :D I am not sure I would concur that these tools are essential for a great live vocal sound. That really depends on the singer, the mic, the musical setting, the acoustic setting etc. etc.. But it CAN be a live (haha) saver for sure, and there are some acts (like your current boss) that would be pretty much unmixable without I assume...I use those tools all over the place, sometimes as a room "eq", sometimes to manage multiple singers/headsets when mixing a musical, sometimes for solo singers, for bad bass signals etc. etc. It's so much better to HAVE those tools than to NEED them for sure! By the way, how do you like those JBL 708s? And those little 104s? Are they as great as people say? Like the new look by the way! Ps.: If you feel like, an indepth video for the DYN8 would be awesome!
