Epic Discovery: Unearthed Roman Villa Astonishes All!

Today the Garrett crew and The Pirates continue our search of a very large farm in the hopes of discovering silver, gold, and other artifacts.
Things go very well during the first part of the detection and we all find some great coins and artifacts. Near the end of the day, Steve discovers a previously undetected Roman villa site. Silver coins, bronze coins, and Roman artifacts soon fly out of the ground and into our digging bags.

Awesome finds dude! You should've busted that flint potato open. I hunted England years ago and found a flint nodule the size of a soccer ball. I couldn't take it with me so I busted it open and was totally surprised by the color of the flint inside.....it looked just like caramel...

Aqua Chigg is The Champagne of KZfaq. I save it for when I go to bed to watch him lastly. I love how he can figure out the history/layout in the woods of the New World or the fields of ancient Roman buildings. I like how he tells us how he thinks it throuh instead of just telling us his conclusions.

You know that you've been detecting for "a while" when you pull a copper coin out of the ground from the 1600s and say, "it's just a copper coin"! LOL! Wow, what stunning finds especially the Silver Denarius in such good condition. You 'lead battleship' looks like window glass lead beading and old.

If you guys send up a drone way up in the sky and look down you may see the outline of a Roman Villa. The outlines become noticeable during certain times of the year, especially with grass or low crops in the field. Vegetation doesn't grow as well over buried Roman wall remains. Great finds!! There was certainly a Roman home close by.

I've heard where the cultural layer of dark dirt on the top is thinner there's more likely to have been settlements

I think it's a Royal Army Ordnance Corps button. It looks like there are three cannons and three cannonballs on it (possibly topped with a crown?). They are the arms of the Board of Ordnance.

Chigg, beer is nice, not necessarily served at room temperature like the British serve pints at pubs. But beer can compound someone becoming dehydrated faster outdoors.
