Great example of the tone of the mic. The bottom end sounds really stable, unhyped, not so much like a ELAM but the articulation and clarity of a 251 is clearly on display here on the TF51. I really like how the top end sounds so open yet never gets spitty or harsh, or too open! Perfect for acoustic elements, would be a great omni mic for an M-S set up, the F8 sounded equal level on both sides though it's YT so who knows! The capsule tone is pretty even all round which makes for an excellent workhorse mic that can also fill in as a fantasitc option for the right LV. Maybe I'd go TF47 on a voice like yours but since you self compress at the mic, maybe the density of an M49b would really show you off. Great technique, it's what can make most any mic work with the only real choice being whether one wants a vocal that sounds like an oil painting looks or sounds like a photograph looks. Excellent work Mr Beatz.

I have this and it’s one of my favorite mics. Warm and smooth yet bright. It’s soooo nice. and I just got the TF47 in. I’m going to test that soon.

Currently, I have a simple chinese condenser microphone and a Behringer UCM204HD audio interface, and it's fine for my content creation. My dream mic is the Telefunken U47, but I think my duck voice don't deserves it 😂

@@archiebeatz i think you should give this mic a bit more airtime on a video. im running it into the 737. i did an A/B with the unison UAD Neve and API preamps and its just a massive difference. i have bass in my voice that plays well to my overall tone and this mic captures better than any mic that ive used before. Ive recorded a record on a u47 into an LA2A and that was incredible. my last 2 singles were through a C-12 but this combination for my home setup is insane. working on getting the hardware CL1B now.

Wow, it's as if you read my mind. I have this exact mic and was wondering if a preamp would get me more out of it. I want a real preamp, so I can get the analog sound before it reaches conversion. We all have the software pre's but how does it grow with a proper high end pre?

Hahahahaha. It's definitely worth it. Honestly, it's one of those centerpiece all-around microphones. Although, it's a tube microphone, it's versatility and quality alone is a safe play. I hope this helps.

Awesome sound bro. How does that compare to the Mojave 300 or the Lauten atlantis /Eden. Though I have the TLM 103, SM7B and CV-12, I’m not sure how to tell if a mic fits my voice best.

Thank you! How is everything brother? Honestly, it's a different sound from the Mojave microphones, Atlantis and Eden. It has an Austrian tube sound. It's preference you know. Nice microphones brother. Well, I'm kind of strange guy, lol. I know the microphone fits my vocals when I instantly smile and feel like it's my voice coming through the microphone during playback. I hope this helps.

The Manley reference is the more expensive and higher out sounding mic.. but it’s more a u47 style sound. The tf51 has more body but and the smoother sound but as not as 3d sounding as the Manley

The GA-251e is an amazing microphone. Another to look at in the same/near price point is the FleA 251 with the Tim Campbell capsule. Like every microphone design out there, it all comes down to the capsule. Either of these will get you there and look good doing it! Dream Big and if that doesn't work out, dream bigger!

In your opinion, if you had, you as and you sir lol.. if you had 2 or 3 hit songs on your hand and you suck at mixing when it comes to eq adding reverb etc. but your instrument playing is at part with some of the greatest musicians that ever became famous, and you’re recording it all your self.. would it be a deal breaker if you go with a TF51 or a Manley Reference Cardiod? Like what would you do? I know is a somewhat crazy question but if you would answer it that would be awesome! Thanks

@@dre3809 that's a great chain! it is a lot of color and tone options in your chain already with the purple and bae both being more mid focused. i think you'd be happy with the manley ref c. the tf51 sounds mid focused as well, nice tone and clarity. i ask budget because for the price of the ref c new, you could get the tf51 and a opto compressor, you'd be pretty much set.

@@mixedbyedd thanks man. this is why I wanted to talk with someone with experience before I did the purchase. I didn’t wanna wait anymore and was afraid if I got the Manley and didn’t fit my voice yadi yadi yada type of thing.. which is kinda absurd because the same thing could happen with the TF51 but ultimately I had to wait a few more weeks like 1 or 2 to afford the Manley and I’ve been dragging this for over 2 months and I just wanted to ended and have no excuses. I’m gonna either have a hard time or an easy time but this will have to be it. I have a couple hit songs and I’m hoping a mic doesn’t break the deal.

@@dre3809 i say go for it! you'll have 30 or so days to return if you're buying new, if you don't like. if used, i still think you'll be happy with the tf51. it's modern and has a great tone, especially with your current chain. what mic are you using now?

Beer or champagne? hmmm...I would never pick a 87 over a C12 or 250 style mic for vocals unless the singer had bad technique or not a particularly great voice. A great voice deserves the clarity of a more open highly articulate capsule that responds to fast transients well. Think of the 87Ai as a sled dog, it doesn't care what's on the sled it's pulling, it just pulls the sled. A C12 /250 style is the clearest finest thickest handmade crystal you've ever drank from.

@@eyeque7 I can appreciate you not understanding what I meant, you will over time though! The facts remain, the 87Ai is indeed a fine [workhorse] mic, but it's nothing particularly special, that's the whole idea of the mic! If it's the best mic you've ever used then fair enough, but there are microphones out there that excel in areas of vocal and acoustic production that are undeniable. Don't be so sensitive, the AI is a fine mic, I own one too but it's rarely used for vocals here. I'm lucky enough to have options that make that decision for me! If the Ai were the only mic I had, it would be different and I'd be grateful for having just that too. A U87 is basically just a FET version of the U67, I prefer tube mics for acoustic and vocals. But the 87, like the 67 was not designed to be anything but a workhorse that sounds fine on everything. A 251 or C12 is designed to provide extraordinary clarity and articulation hence why it costs 3-4 times as much! Enjoy what you have! ✌️🎶🎶

@@eyeque7 Whatever a client wants! I'm primarily a recording engineer working in commercial and private studios. The productions I'm hire to create ranges from singer/songwriter to music theatre pop and some rock. My first two choices for vocals are either a 251 or M49b especially if they know what they are doing , but some singers I will use a 47 or an original 87. Depends on what's going on with the vocals really. Some singers who have particular issues with their technique I'll use a Fet47 or even a dynamic mic. The better trained or more natural a talent is with great technique I always want everything they have on offer. Like the example of Archie Beatz, he's in control of his instrument and has great tone so I'd want a mic that not only captures what comes from his mouth, but also the sounds from his sinus mask where some of the resonant detail is coming from. A U87 type mic will not grab that as well as a capsule designed for such purposes. It's all about the different capsule types and how they respond to the elements being captured. Ymmv ✌️

You’re listening to them through KZfaq which changes the sound a bit. I’m thinking you’re wearing headphones. You definitely tell a difference between this mic and the Neumann TML103 or 102 or from even another expensive one like the Manley Reference Cardioid. If you’re a phenomenal singer by the whole definition of that word, then even with a $500 mic and a hit song and you’re making it. But the producer or engineer may have to work harder to get it sound like what’s out there when is all put together with the mix. Hope that helps.
