Welcome to this Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 SDK Mini Series going through the process of converting the Google Maps photogrammetry data of city landmarks from Coventry in the UK into scenery to be used within the game.
In this first episode, we look at how to plan which scenery we want to capture, how to get the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 SDK installed and our project set up and ready to go.

Not sure if you can help, I cannot tile textures like PBR bricks in blender using msfs standard. It’s a real pain making large buildings, I have to make loads of rectangular planes... if I try to add a texture napping node and change scale it looks ok in the blender model but after export into SDK it reverts back to one texture spanning the whole building. I think I’m may be approaching it the wrong way...

FYI, you can now use Google Earth in addition to Google Maps data. I've found GE images tend (in general) to be higher quality. YMMV though.

Interesting comment, I captured Google Earth images OK with Renderdoc, I couldn't see a quality difference and couldn't get them into Blender anyway so I left it there.

I've managed to get some scenery into MSFS using this method but decided to make a complete project as per this video series. All seemed to go well, no obvious problems and very few errors in the console after building package - BUT I get the message in Scenery Editor "Net Bing Obj was not found, please load any mission to keep on using the scenery editor". This doesn't seem too bad, but I can't do anything further and I don't know what it means. Any ideas anyone?

Hi I am completly new to adding scenery objects .I did try to follow a tutorial when I downloaded the sdk but got tied up in knots with all the directories etc. My project I want to have a go at, is a stretch of beach at EGOD .I want to create a seaplane base. It doesnt have to be recognised by MSFS as base. But I want to add a dock and some bits to make it look like seaplane base . The ecconomic platform I use will think I am at the airport if I land close enough to it in the sea .. How hard would it be and what librarys would I need ,do you have a tutorial for it ? Thank you

PLEASE HELP!!! When using Renderdoc, Every time after I inject and press OK on the message with the inject number, I get this error message: "NOTE: Injection must happen immediately after the process starts, before any graphics API has been initialized". Someone please help. What am I doing wrong? It was working the first few times I tried it, however all the "Tools" buttons under "Launch Application" were grayed out
