Having a secure attachment is the cure

Anyone who has one person to talk to about anything will never need anything from anybody. They will always be %100 secure in troubles throughout their lives.

The cure is for two people to be so securely attached, they will never feel like they will be abandoned.

Narcissists have a fear of abandonment. Fixing the fear is the solution. How can a narcissist be a narcissist if they are not afraid of abandonment?

My ex narc didn't care about his appearance. He's a slob. This was interesting. I was under the impression there was only unhealthy narcissism. Unfortunately my ex narc is an unhealthy narc. Waiting with bated breath for the day my son can get out from under his thumb.

In your experience, have you found that it is more likely for a person with narcissism to heal, the earlier it is diagnosed? For example; a teenager on the verge of becoming a young adult, that is exhibiting narcissistic behaviors that are beyond the norm for an adolescent.

Thanks for sharing: Childhood survival... conditioned to 'Echo' to keep the peace or conform. Would this be similar to being conditioned in early childhood as with the 'People Pleaser syndrome'. To Echo the Narcissist is to mirror back what he/she wants to see or hear?

I think someone can have echoism and still be a covert narcisst. I love the way you offer solutions. I know primary healthy narcissm and secondary, unhealthy narcissm was from Freud's work initially....K9hut came later...Objuect relations I believe.

Jenny Sieck yes-I address that in #rethinkingnarcissism: introverted narcissism (aka covert) can look like extreme narcissism vacillating with echoism (transient) you’re close about Kohut. He was relational, but departed from object relations, forming his own school of thought: self-psychology.

my husband love's to be seen as the hero to other people, gives money, time etc, he brags to me about how nice he is, well not to me, but l relpy (no honey, l know who you really are, tell it to some one else, who doesn't know you. l can never get sick or have a need, want, it actually infuriates him and he calls me childish and selfish, and to get up and clean the house, especially if i'm pointing out his mistreatment of me. you are not allowed to have any feelings, just need to cater to theirs. it's too late for me..!! when l found out about this disorder and tried to get a divorce. l discoverd first hand, how violent they can be. i'm trapped relating in a unauthentic relationship.

so basically ur saying that anyone who doesnt have relationships for whatever reason, is in danger of being a narcissist? if u dont trust people because since childhood they have always let u down, or u just dont like people very much then its always unhealthy? always? some people are just loners i feel. just like some people are asexual and are not attracted to anyone either. i dont think people are so cookie-cutter

I think whether one is functional and has unconditional positive regard for self and others is a really important definition of what creates a pathology vs. just a trait for being an introvert or a loner.

Lol, it's not politics to say Trump is vain and preening. He's a great example of that and it's thrown around often bc it's true. He didn't say anything about politics. Nice deflection tho
