This is fine. There is just 10000000s of podcasts. There aren't too many really great youtube cooking shows. I miss the cooking.

Idk, this is not really a complaint of Alison’s presence or the idea for the podcast, but the questions on all of these episodes so far has just been….not good. And I know that that’s not the production team’s fault but it kind of makes for lackluster advice. Like all of the live questions feel like the caller has already thought about the advice themselves. It doesn’t come off as very genuine, or specific enough to be helpful. And the cooking questions are just so boring and old news! We’ve all heard enough about basic cast iron care and how to store herbs. How are those questions that people are calling in about instead of a quick google? I would love to hear some really specific questions that I think would make this format more meaningful (like “I need to plan a vegan dinner menu that doesn’t include nuts what should I make”). Will support everything that Alison does, I just don’t get the same gratification out of consuming this content like I do home movies, the newsletter, etc.

I love talking about people’s stuff and giving and getting solicited advice too! 🎉 i see some comments that are like *pass-bring back cooking* but honestly this is just an other cool thing you’re doing that you’re into and want to do soooooo go for it! You aren’t here to fulfill us and give us our specific content desires with the sauce on the side. I love to tune in for whatever you have goin on. I have some advice… Solicited advice is a good idea, but maybe shorten it and bring back Home Movies? Just a suggestion. I’m sure there will be lots of people complaining about the direction this show has taken, me included. The holidays are just around the corner! If any time was the right time, it would be now. We could use another Thanksgiving special Alison. I’m sure you aren’t reading this, but please know your fans miss your fun cooking/baking demonstrations and your delightfully funny personality

Listen @ almost everyone in the comments! No one said that Home Movies are ceasing to exist!!! Alison started a new thing and supporting her for both Home Movies and Solicited Advice is important! I'm about 97% sure she mentioned that a Thanksgiving special is on the way. Maybe her team and herself are working extra hard on that special and more :) Alison recently got married, started a podcast, Home Movies and more! They'll be back before we know it! If you don't want to watch/listen to the podcast then don't. But leaving comments saying 'Get back to Cooking' (I also understand that this could be meant in a light hearted manner, but still) or 'We don't like the new direction of the channel' are not helpful nor supportive. She's allowed to try new things while pausing for a sec on Home Movies! Because I think most of us can relate that it can be really freaking nerve wracking to start something new so let's all please allow her the space to do all the things her heart desires! :)

I was going to say I don’t think that’s what they meant, but I can’t speak for everyone. My take on this is she should absolutely continue doing the Solicited Advice podcast, but maybe shorten it and continue to make Home Movies. I know that when I left my comment I didn’t want to start a fight. I was just trying to throw out some possible resolutions that would help make everyone happy. Do you know Alison personally? You know quite a bit about her, in my opinion

I know it’s easy on the viewers’ side to speculate and presume that she has stopped filming cooking vids but let’s give her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe she and her team need a vacation. Maybe they already filmed a huge batch of vids and are currently in post production. Maybe they lost an editor. These podcasts are easy to slap together and passively generate revenue while they film cooking vids. Let’s just continue to be patient! ❤

I’m a massive fan, but as Alison said herself, this podcast is white noise. I was leaning a lot from her cooking videos. But she can also choose not to share her gift anymore, fair enough.
