In today’s episode of the Cozy Cabin Series, we face a critical challenge as we correct a major misstep in our cabin build. After installing our 400 amp power meter base askew, and being rightfully called out by my WAR BAND for the shoddy work, it's time for a thorough fix. Join me, Wranglerstar, and my manservant as we meticulously straighten the power base station to ensure our cozy cabin's electrical setup is both safe and efficient.
But that's not all we're tackling today! Follow along as we lay down a robust 3" conduit from the power pole to our newly straightened power base station. We’ll take you through every step of the process, sharing both the technical details and the hard-earned lessons along the way.
We also test the water pressure and volume in our recently installed 3/4" frost-free yard hydrant, crucial for maintaining water supply in our rustic retreat throughout the year. Whether you're a seasoned DIYer or just curious about cabin life, you’ll find valuable insights and real-time problem-solving in this episode.
Subscribe to Wranglerstar for more practical tips and behind-the-scenes looks at building and maintaining a self-sufficient cabin in the woods. Don’t forget to like, comment, and hit the bell icon to stay updated on all our Cozy Cabin Series adventures!

Strike 1, don’t use a power saw on your lap Strike 2, measure from the top of the pipe you buried to a mark on the board so you know how far you can dig before you need to get out and look for the pipe. Helps if you bury it in a little stone or sand as well. Strike 3, figure out how far you want this thing off the road then pull a measurement off the road edge and set 2 stakes that you’ll make without sawing them on your lap then pull a string between them. Now just back up your vertical boards to the string and plum them. Ne electric eyeball, no redigging, no guesswork. It’s just right the first time

I’ll never forget responding to a call of a construction worker who decided to cut some wood the way you did. He did not fair so well. I got to the scene first then paramedics and fire. The guy was holding his thigh with both hands. Paramedics told him to remove his hands so they could assess the injury. When he removed his hands I could see a large white pink slice down his entire thigh all the way to the bone. After what seemed like forever the blood started running like a garden hose. This was in 1986 and I can still see it like it was yesterday. Remember safety first. That was a rookie move for the proho lol.

@@tonymatthews445uhm no? We didn’t do anything to our soil by n large, it’s a rain forest basically over here, the soil is rich and dense, lots of stones and rocks, we get way more rain than you guys, our soil is more packed. We’re talking just about the ground in general over here, not a field a farmer ruined the soil in with poor agriculture practices lol.

east and west coast have no reason to complain about digging. Foot hills of the Rockies here, where the frost depth is 5 feet and the rocks are held in by the expanding clay.

@@tonymatthews445 Ya, PA had the Appalachian Mountains before the Rockies were dreamed of by Nature, they are much older than the Rockies, and are wearing down. All those rocks went into the soil along with the shale/clay. Depending on where you're at, bedrock is near the surface and getting a basement for a home/bldg is a 'blast' to get.

I got the permit back today from the planning department for my new deck. I've never really built anything before, but I'm going to step away from the keyboard for a while and build it myself. I should learn a lot (just getting the building permit has been an education), I won't have to worry about some shady contractor doing substandard work, and I'll save a lot too. Deck builders are charging $80-$120 per sq ft around here to build decks!!! I've estimated the cost to build it myself at $35/sq ft including materials and tool rentals/purchases. Mistakes will be made, I'm sure. Watching Wranglerstar has inspired me to give it a go 😎.
