I will say this about Ronaldo, pressing is an issue but if you look at how he's played after coming back from his Portugal vacation he's been much more involved in the build-up, dropping deeper. I don't know whether this suit Ten Hag but he is working across a wider area at the very least.

From an Arsenal fan, I think Ten Hag is a good appointment for United, IF THEY GIVE HIM TIME. There will no doubt be a difficult adjustment period and ups and downs, but the key is to hold fast in those moments and you will reap the rewards.

I don't think time, and enduring the 'tough times' is an issue (there was plenty of those times under Ole, who survived for longer than he probably should have). The issue will be how much say Ten Hag and/or Ralf have at the club in terms of recruitment. No point giving Ten Hag 'time and patience' if he is being fed players like £150m Declan Rice, Phil Jones on another fresh 5 year contract, and an injury prone Gareth Bale with the number 7 shirt.

@@MiaouwPhilliesSuki14 👍 good luck for the rest of the season. Its a toss up between you and Conte, and Arsenal 100% deserve it more, and would a)represent England better in the CL next season, and b) use that as a platform for recruitment better than Spurs would (and than Utd would!)

ETH doesn't necessarily need a target man striker. His first Ajax team was using Tadic as sort of a false 9 with Donny going infront of him at many times during the game . maybe ronaldo and bruno could have such a dynamic . Bruno could occupy that central role while ronaldo drifts to that left half space like he pretty much always do.

It was only in a handful of European games. He prioritises a target man most of the time. Think Dolberg, Huntelaar and Haller. Neither Bruno or Ronaldo make off the ball runs that open space for others, both are ball dominant, this is not good

Realistic transfer targets for the summer: RB: Noussair Mazraoui - Would be available on a free transfer and would be a huge improvement over AWB and Dalot. Good offensively and defensively. CB: Joško Gvardiol - One of the best center backs in the Bundesliga this season. Just 20 years old and left footed which always helps. Good on the ball and agile. Exactly what we need! CDM: Palhinha - An identical player to Rodri and would slot in perfectly in the #6 position. ST: Darwin Nunez - Younger version of Cavani. A high workrate, great finisher and a good target man to lead the line.

@Will Stubbs yeah if we sign a better cb then lindelof can be a reliable backup. Then again we also need to sign a quality dm to cover for Matic's departure or else the defense is still gonna be easily penetrated. Unfortunately It's probably impossible to sell Maguire at the moment so we can only hope that he improves but he ain't getting any younger either, but yeah lindelof-varane is probably the best partnership we can currently have.

Love your Video! Just a couple things from a dutch Ajax Fan. For the past Year Daley Blind is the first choice left back. Also Mazraoui plays very high thats true but most of the time he plays as more of an extra midfielder between the defending lines and Anthony keeps it wide on the right site. I think ETH would be an amazing signing for United if they give him Time. The experience with Dutch Coaches in the Premier League unfortunaly isnt that promising (Ronald Koeman, Frank de Boer). But with enough time and some extra key Players he could do very well. And maybe Donnie becomes a serious chance ;)

fred is actually starting to show real potential in the 8 role when he has a little bit of freedom, i think with a really good number 6 who can do all the work at the back of the midfield will do fred wonders. he stays for sure

Agreed. Actually added a few goals to his game this season which I don't think anyone saw coming, and his final ball has been a lot better. Add to that the amount of ground he covers and the amount of work he gets through and he should be a fixture in this side. Utd have far bigger problems to address in the next year or two.

When he plays for brazil alongside casemiro or fabinho he truly shines, i´ve watched lots of man utd matches and this last couples of months he´s been playing pretty much like in brazil and i´ve never seen him play like this in man utd before, in shakhtar he used to play in this role too. I think tchouameni beside him would be brilliant. And we don´t have to forget that hannibal is in the squad too.

Doesn’t matter if he’s taken a while to get to the level he was at and you should know what’s it’s been like that. One player I think could perfectly feat on the n6 position is Ndidi from Leicester. I think if he goes to a big club like that he can really make it better in the midfield and that’s what United needs

Ndidi, Rice, Alvarez, Barrios, Kessie and others are indeed good options. It also depends if he wants more of a playmaking 6 like he had with Frenkie or a ballwinner as he has with Alvarez.

"Someone like Rashford, someone who's willing to put in the work" is a HUGE contradiction, one of the laziest players I've ever seen this season, outright refuses to track back and leaves the full back exposed. He is part of the reason Shaw has regressed and a (very small) part of why Wan-Bissaka was dropped. Also Bruno would not keep the ball enough for ten Hag imo, interested to see if he can develop. Donny will be a big winner, and I can see Tuanzebe doing well if he comes back. I think it'll give Elanga and Martial a chance to develop in a different way and improve as footballers rather than players (if that makes sense)

@Rohan Chatterjee Just because he's done good things generally doesn't mean he can't be criticized for his effort (or lack thereof) on the pitch. One of the very best people and personalities in football but right now he doesn't deserve to play for Manchester United. He said himself to separate his actions off the pitch from his performances on it and nobody is immune to criticism no matter who they are

Nice breakdown. I hope Ten Haag will take over at Man Utd I feel Ralf isn’t good enough but mainly it’s the players and playing style they have no identity, Maguire & AWB have to go they’ve both been shocking this season. Maguire cannot keep playing and needs to be stripped off the captaincy, United needs to also sign a top CDM to shield the back 4 and I think Ronaldo & Donny could thrive under ETH while Rashford & Shaw remain question marks for me. Let’s see what happens next season this one has been a painful watch for MUFC fans.

I'm curious to see what United fans expect? cause even with a new coach like ETH, I don't think the should even talk about going for a title in 2023. Building a new team and reaching champions league football would already be quite the feat for this squad I imagine. So very good I think as a club to be very open about this.

Absurd to think McTom and Fred will be casualties, IMO, certainly immediately. Particularly Scotty. It’s pretty obvious at this point that neither of them can learn the role of the 6, but as 8’s, they’re fine at worst and can become *much* better with coaching in that role. There’s a reason they’ve been first on the team sheet under three different managers. In an ideal world, they might phase out into squad players in year 3-4 should all go to plan, but they’ll be integral in the short term, as they should. Expect a pick up in abilities, too.

Ten Hag seems like the right choice because his philosophy is in line with Rangnick and he's supposed to stay in the club, but their problems dont stop at manager. They've flip flop so much between managers & styles (that have all been successful elsewhere btw) that they have no identity anymore. Ill start to take Man Utd seriously when they actually hire a sporting director and stick to his vision...

How do you get rid of players who are on expensive long term contracts? Arsenal have found it very hard to do without having massive costs associated so will the Glazers agree to the same ideals, I don't think they will.

Great video, thank you.. Rashford is a painful player to watch even in a counter attacking side never mind a total footballing side, he's simply a poor player at top level. Bruno would need to almost completely change which i can't see happening, maybe going from loosing it 30 odd times a game to half it would be a start, still an awful player stylisticly for a possession based side. He would want a left footer off the right imo so sancho off the left mostly i feel. Ronaldo's hold up play has been excellent this season. Also players like matic, dalot, donny and if possible martial would thrive under ten hag when needed.

As a liverpool fan I have to respect klop in that he has created messi and influences other managers like Arteta tenhag and more. However I still do wonder where we would be if klop had the money pep has had in 10 50+ mil singings and if pep only had 2 50+ mil signings. I genuinely believe we would have won prem every year and ucl at least 3 times in last 5 years

Rashford can make a return, but he also need to evolve. As he grow older, speed will be less. He also need to improve his interplay and pass the ball and not always try to go through defenders. With two defenders being pulled away, there will be a player in a better position to score. Pass the ball Rashford! Play for the team

For me as long as we sign a DM and RB we should be good for next season. However we need the deadwood out like Maguire, AWS, Pogba, Jones all the players who are not good enough for Manchester United must go and then we can move forward as a club

For me I don’t think Ronaldo wouldn’t be a casualty at all, he is still an unbelievable player from what I’ve seen this season his link up play has actually been really good at times and under Ten Hag I think that Haller role for Ronaldo would work and he would flourish

Our 1st priority is a CDM ( maybe one that would cost 70-100mi) 2nd priority is a CB ( if Jones and Bailey leaves) 3rd is a ST to play if Greenwood doesn't come back

I agree with 2 of your points but striker is low on the list in my opinion. They scored freely without a proper number 9, they could possibly utilise Bruno as a false 9 with Rashford as the inverted left winger where he thrived before and Sancho as a more creative RW and keep the front 3 fluid and interchangeable. 1st priority CDM -Rice top choice for I imagine £80-90M if done right 2nd priority CM -creative, deep playmaker and ball winner. Dangerous from distance. Neves hopefully for £45m 3rd priority CB - Fast, Agile, intelligent. Ballplaying. Maybe Timber. Play a 433 false 9.

Personally don't think that Fred will be a casualty, he has shown under Rangnick that with proper coaching he can slot into the role in front of the CDM. Also think Donny must be very happy hearing the Ten Hag links.

Actually watching someone go through the Man United squad makes you realize how mediocre of a team it is. Unless there is a massive overhaul, it's hard to get excited about this team even if Ten Haag comes in. I loved the video on Xavi's Barcelona renaissance and the big difference there is the number of players in that club who grew up in that system and know instinctively how to operate in a Barcelona team, whereas I don't see any identity or overarching philosophy in United. I think this clumsily assembled squad will be a real challenge for Ten Hag as it has been for the past 5 managers.

I'm also not convinced Bruno can operate in a more tactical system. His whole thing is just clipped balls over the top to runners in behind, and I don't know how that will work when United actually presumably have some possession high up the field (and less space behind the defensive line) as they would in a Ten Hag team.

Clear out is needed and too many players have had chance after chance and are just too inconsistent with spells of good form but if you are not a fanboy and actually watch the games,there is nothing there i.e. Rashford,Shaw,Martial,Pogba,AWB,Mctominay, Maguire ,Dalot,Telles etc.I would have no problem with getting rid of players that have spent more than 3seasons on big wages and have been inconsistent!

Got to disagree on McFred. I think the days of them playing together are definitely over with ETH, but they are both quality 8s with the right 6 behind them. If VDB gets reintegrated into the squad as an 8, I can see one of the three being shipped out, but I don't think both will go.

There needs to be a big clear out, that's not news. However, do you really think the glazers are just gonna do that? Knowing they lose a tonne of money and its hard to shift them on their wages. It'll take 2 years at least until the squad is properly renewed including culture etc, imo.
