Your right about those points I just don't care to mess with pc gaming I'm glad you like pc gaming. The Xbox series x is with me Besides Microsoft is going towards the pc road. Pretty soon they will not be making consoles or need to. Its already getting that close to those days. Microsoft is a software and computer technology company so they have the power to make the Xbox gaming brand full pc essential if they wanted to and probably will Thst something sony will never do. @@JayPatrol lol 😂 that’s funny. Yeah man I was a die hard Xbox gamer my whole life. My other “console vs PC video” describes this a little more. The whole reason I switched to PC was because of Microsoft’s support for the PC platform. I like making my gaming machine mine. I like making it themed and personal. So a PC allows me to do this. Plus I get to keep playing my favorite Xbox games. It’s a win/win.

Pc gaming is not for everyone especially the average consumer are not going to buy a pc for gaming like people in the pc gaming community this basically for those that want a gaming pc and build one. But to the average consumer will just own a regular computer and maybe a game console. And most people don't care to play a game on a keyboard Pcs are nice but i myself don't care to game on a computer.

I've been using PC and consoles and the points I usually don't see are "stability" and "user friendly". Since consoles are mostly used for gaming, you're two actions away from getting in your game. Games are locked at a specific frame rate to have a stable experience, on PC you need to try different configurations for your specific hardware; I love doing all the troubleshooting on PC and becoming better and better at using my PCs full potential, but that's not for the most casual gamers
@Thornskade
@Thornskade Жыл бұрын
When I was a kid I was also two actions away from getting in my games. Realizing that I could tweak settings and make my own configurations came way later, I didn't even know what options menus were. I don't understand where this idea comes from, casual PC gamers don't tweak, they just start a game and play like a console user. This stuff is optional, not forced. PC games are also usually just put at a low, medium or high config depending on the hardware the game detects and framerates are usually locked to your refresh rate by default, i.e. 60 fps or 30 fps (depending on game performance, double buffering is the most common option games use by default) for the vast majority of people. It's not like there's zero optimization here
@manameisjeffie656

that's what i like doing sometimes, when it's to ez to play the game for 45 min and get bored, but when i have to configure and suffer to find fixes for performance i usually stay hours doing so, which brings me the most fun even when playing the game at a lower FPS
@XxViperMortalxX
@XxViperMortalxX 6 ай бұрын
@@ThornskadeNah man, my last console was a ps2 so i have been a pc player for very long, and let me tell you it aint rly that optional. On pc most games are not really that well optimized and some are even complete trash on optimization, meaning shitty or subpar performance on a quite powerful pc. And most games dont offer a easy experience for optimization, on xbox or ps5 you choose framerate and play... On pc you need to open a fps monitor, check which preset offers a stable performance and maybe thats it, if you run into stutters you gotta search wtf is up, if its vram usage, ram, cpu, drivers, if its the game, a specific setting maybe, etc... There is also micro stutters, crashes, errors, updates messing shit up, file corruption, things of which if u unlucky enough might rly fk with ur enjoyment. Honestly not a pc or console is for everyone... You gotta see what fits u. Pc is good if u have the money to build a very powerful one, and u can also get games for insanely cheap. Ps5/xbox series are good if u want something cheap yet powerful, and a more relaxing plug and play experience. There is also handhelds, like the rog ally, steam deck, legion go (just to name the big brands), which offer much weaker performance than a console or even a low budget pc, but offer a portability and chance to play short burst that no other thing can come close, also its great for ppl who travel a lot. Really not one of them is the best, but the best for your use case scenario/what you want
@Thornskade
@Thornskade 6 ай бұрын
@@XxViperMortalxX Again you're describing things that are completely optional. I spent my entire childhood on PC and literally never tweaked any graphics settings so I know full well this is not and was never a necessity. This is double think where when a console game is poorly optimized, stutters or has low framerates you just accept it because you can't do anything about it. On PC you can do something about it, but to claim it's required is blatantly false

Having a series X if you have a PC is pretty much pointless because you can play any game that you would originally play on the xbox; but with better graphics and frame rate. Now that selected Playstation exclusives will be coming to PC too there’s no real reason for me to own a ps5 anymore either. My RTX 3080 and 5900x handle anything I throw at them. Then went to full water loop not long afterwards in 2014 and have upgraded a few times since then. Built one of my kids a PC from my old parts. I love the expandability of PC and unlimited gaming. I have actually moved away from PC gaming recently. I have been a pc gamer for more than a decade but fell out of gaming over the last year or so even though I have a fairly decent gaming laptop (for my work). My issue is that I do programming for 8-10 hours a day and after I come home, I don’t want to even look at a PC again. I recently purchased a PS5 and it has rekindled my love for gaming. The greatest benefit is couch gaming. Sitting in front of my TV with the option to instantly get on with game is a huge bonus. I’m willing to pay extra for games if that means I have the convenience of not worrying about frame rates or graphics settings and instantly playing my game. Another factor is that not everyone lives in the US and the PC parts market has gone to absolute trash, especially for Europe where we have to pay 20-30% extra plus higher VAT. This would still be digestible if the state of PC ports wasn’t so bad these days. Also I’d rather pay Sony extra money than use the absolute horseshit that is Windows (more than I already have to for work). Windows is a huge pain in the ass and I don’t want to deal with it in my free time. I get that you are trying to make a case for PC gaming but it’s not like PC gaming doesn’t have any downsides. There are real practical advantages that consoles offer besides first party games, which is why the PS5 has sold more than 50 million at this point. People are willing to pay for convenience and consoles offer exactly that, convenience.

For me it's the reverse, I went from PC to console. My PS5 just works, the games just run, no crashes, no constant driver updates, no errors, games just run 99 percent of the time and whenever a new game comes out I can just buy it knowing it will all work by just putting in the disc with no more effort. As I got older, sometimes I just wanted to come home and turn on my system and play games, not tinker with settings not do constant debugging, not worry about drivers, controllers and headphones suddenly disconnecting, not to mention the various problems with windows itself. And then comes the cost, especially in a 3rd world country like mine, for me there's absolutely no comparison, console all the way, cause I just want to play games at the end of the day, and Playstation also has great exclusives for which I won't have to wait years for a PC port which is not always guaranteed, also so many bad ports come out on PC, developers clearly put console first, and also most online games that people play these days are free like Apex, Rocket league, warzone and fortnite and for these you don't need to pay for ps plus, also you can buy pre owned discs and sell your discs to save money, I bought ragnarok day 1 and sold it in a week after completion getting back 90 percent of my money, also I can pin youtube videos and other stuff with my game on screen on PS5 seamlessly maybe research before saying we can't? But hey if you have time and money then sure go ahead with a PC.

The hardest part is getting over that initial hump of the price on PC. Once you do that, you quite literally open yourself up to "unchained" gaming with no limits (unless of course, devs do that for you unfortunately) You can certainly still keep a console around if you prefer like I have done but every day I look at it and realize it's been months since I've used it. I'd say either save up for a PC if you need to or get one if you can afford one because you will NOT regret it.

One of the best parts about the PC is upgradeability. If you have a B 350 or B 450 motherboard you could just upgrade the CPU. If you have a decent CPU then you can upgrade the GPU. Same with memory. Running low on capacity, add a send kit when it goes on sale. Run out of storage space on the SSD? Buy a 7200 RPM HDD and slap it in the case. Move the games that you are not playing to that bulk storage. Then you can move it back to the SSD at any time with no need to download it again.

The reason why people go console over PC is because of how expensive PC is. Good luck finding a gaming PC in the 300-500 dollar range that runs games as well as the PS5 or X/S. With that said after investing a significant amount of money into decent PC components, it of course is better than console. But consoles are designed to be simple, cheap, and accessible.
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Жыл бұрын
Honestly, that’s a very fair point. During the PlayStation 4 and Xbox one generation, you could build a $500 console killer. These videos were all over KZfaq. However, many things have changed since then. But in about another year or two, I think we can start buying used parts for around $500 that will rival the consoles. Not necessarily beat them. But rival them. And the parts will need to be secondhand.

That is up to you. It depends on how badly you want to play those games. God of War and The Last of us will definitely come to PC because their first games are already on PC. The only things that attracts me as a console gamer are mods and emulation but mostly emulation because i LOVE old games but the problem for me is knowing which parts that i need to build the pc that i want, i've been learning about pc months ago but i still don't feel like i'm ready to migrate plus the fact that pc is getting bad ports of games lately.

Yes!! Finally able to watch one of your videos. Not that I don’t like your videos lol. Great content!! As you know I’m new to PC gaming and I admit there are a lot of advantages to it compared to consoles. However, I still find myself as a plug and play kinda guy. I enjoy the fluidity of a PC along with the cost effective products they offer. I do they to game very often and I can see myself not skipping to much of a beat if the PC wasn’t available and going back to the console. I don’t mod cause it scares the crap out of me that I’ll download the wrong thing our a virus and I wouldn’t have a clue how to fix it. The games I play are destiny and the occasional rpg. It still disappoints me that mmorpg games still charge a monthly fee to play. Maybe in time I’ll see the major difference but at this point plug it and play it is my motto. Lol

Well, it’s good to see you back in the comments! Thanks for the comment! I’m aware of your situation and fully understand where you are coming from. It also makes complete sense. I remember when I was on Xbox, I was so scared to damage it. So I never did anything to it. Meanwhile, I had a friend who would constantly take his apart and paint it. I thought that was crazy. Fast forward to now and I do custom PC stuff all the time. It’s funny how that works. I appreciate you watching the video. The one thing I would encourage you to do is don’t be afraid to touch your PC lol. I know where you’re coming from and trust me I used to be there as well. But the more you use it, the more comfortable you’ll be with it. I believe you can’t fully enjoy something if you’re partially scared of it lol. I made a video called 50 tips in 10 minutes. It’s exactly what it sounds like. It’s 50 PC tips in 10 minutes. It gets straight to the point. I would recommend watching it as a good start. No, not every single tip will be applicable to you. I jumped into PC gaming just over a year ago but was never completely satisfied with pc gaming until I upgraded from my 27" 1440p 165hz gaming monitor to a 48" C1. Now my pc gaming experience is like console gaming but without having to choose between fidelity/resolution mode vs performance mode. Having said that, I am still happy to have my PS5 which I moved from the TV room (along with my Switch dock) to my desk so all my gaming is in one location. I still buy Sony's amazing must play 1st party games day and date on PS5 however I have started double dipping on Sony's PC releases... such as Zero Dawn for less than $16 CAN (approx $13 US) and Days Gone for less than $17 CAN (approx $14 US).

I also have a 48 inch OLED, but mine is the CX. As a lifelong console gamer, it was hard for me to get into PC fully. I fully converted over but something always felt a little off. I connected my Xbox controller and switched from a monitor to a tv and now I love it. I’ve been gaming more. I still have a monitor connected as a secondary display and I use mouse and keyboard for all normal PC related things. But nowadays, if I am gaming, it’s usually with a controller and I don’t care. I love it. It’s fun. It’s easy. It feels normal to me. The main change now has been the box. Instead of a console, it’s a PC!

Some corrections I’d like to point out. 1. Free games like Fortnite don’t require a subscription service to play online, however needing it for paid games still exist. 2. You can shop on gamestop & easily find a physical copy cheaper than you would on pc which prices are heavily dependent on when the platform decides to lower it. Additionally, Walmart tends to do $10 off for new game releases. 3. Unsure about xbox however the ps5 allows you to put KZfaq, your friend’s broadcast, and apps to the side. Every other point I agree with fully
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Жыл бұрын
1. Is correct today. That was not always true. But noted. 2. Physical games are cheaper eventually. But that takes time. Pre-orders and day 1 games are still cheaper on PC 9 times out of 10. Plus, less and less people are buying physical media. If you have a Xbox Series S or PS5 digital, physical media prices don’t help you. 3. Xbox does not allow for this. This is the first I’ve heard about the PS5 doing that.

@@ErockOnTech his point about games getting cheaper over time but not right away could also be said in your argument for playstation games coming to pc, they are coming to pc but when? not right away, the the best looking games in the world are probably on ps5 but not on pc yet and when they are finally on pc the ps5 has newer better looking games again. pc players can brag about playing horizon zero dawn better then it ever looked while ps5 players are playing horizon 2. spiderman is on pc and much better then it was on ps4 but the game is 6 years old and spider-man 2 is coming to ps5. last of us 2 still top 5 looking games right now where is that on pc. yes when they get to pc they will be the best but some people might want to play the best looking state of the art looking games while they are fresh and not years later and pc does not give that yet. i am pc player stopped console after ps3 but playing the best looking games when they are new and fresh is not the same as playing them years later when their sequel which is better looking again is about to drop on console

@@DrLoomis666 a game is either good or not. It doesn’t matter if it’s “6 years old” or not. Also, you’re assuming Horizon 2 will take just as long to come to PC. The majority of the PS games on PC today were exclusive to PS4 at a time when Sony wasn’t even considering PC ports. But Jim Ryan confirmed that PlayStstion is committed to bringing more games to PC. Also, he confirmed that PlayStation will get into more live service games. He then confirmed those games will be available on PC day 1. Only the single player games will be exclusive to the PS5 for a limited time. There are tons of beautiful looking games on PC… also looks are subjective. This is true with all things in life. @@DrLoomis666 Some games age better than others. But newer games age better because of better technology. PS games that are 4 years old today, will still look good in another 4 years. Now, I’m very fortunate to have both a PS5 and a Series X (however it did take 2 years to get both as I got them as Christmas gifts on separate years, and is wasn’t a back-to-back situation either), and I could honestly easily afford a Nintendo Switch. However, PC is a different story. It’s EXTREMELY pricey to say the least. Maybe if I can get a job that pays enough and I save all the money I can I could get one sooner rather than later, but I’m still on the fence. I’m a huge gamer and I understand how great PC is, but realistically, it’s not in my price range until I can make some more money.

Grew up with consoles and PC through the 80s and 90s. Owned most major consoles through these years (apart from SNES, which wasn't very popular in UK) and I was lucky enough to have a shared family PC throughout this time too. Last console my parents got me was the PS2 in around 2001. Then, I purchased my very first gaming PC around 2004 (pentium 4 beast😅), which I mainly used for strategy games like Rome: Total war. By the time I got a PS3 my PC was a bit long in the tooth for newer games so I switched to just the PS3 from 2007 to about 2013. Then I got back into PCs again and would build a new PC every 3 years or so. I was very happy with my current Rig and I still am, a 3080ti paired with i9 11900k. But then I played The last of us Part 1 (remake) on PC and fell in love with it so hard for a second time, first time was on the Ps3 back in 2013. It made me want to play Part 2 so much and im not willing to wait 2 years for it to be ported to PC. So I purchased a PS5 last week and TLOU2 (ps4 version). Can't believe I dropped over £500 to play a game😂. To be fair, I have since purchased a few ps4 and ps5 exclusives that you can't get on PC yet. So it's not too bad. For hardcore gamers, yes, PC is superior but it comes with cost and time doing your research. You also have to be ready to fix anything yourself, you are on your own. @@rickmens6110 Do yourself a favor and make sure that you fully research what upgrades you may need to run a higher end gpu like a 3080 at its full potential. Alot of time when people first switch to PC gaming they're under the impression that just buying the highest end card they can afford is all they need to worry about, but that is far from the truth. For one instance, running a lower end CPU paired with a higher end card like a 3080 will cause a CPU bottleneck, which pretty much negates the whole reason for having a higher end GPU... There are many other factors that effect performance as well, at the end of the day it's basically a balancing act between your components. Just make sure you do your research and understand what you need, to get the performance you want.

Depending on what 3080 card you go for you may want to look into a 850w PSU. For example, I have the ROG Strix 12gb 3080 in my current build and it's so power hungry it requires at least an 850w PSU and 3, 8 pin connectors.

If you buy the game on console for $70 as a physical copy, you can resell that physical copy to recoup some (sometimes ~70%) of that money. A lot of really good games hold there value really well too. Whether this offsets the cost difference between PC and console varies, but I do feel it is a lot closer than some think it is.

That all depends entirely on the game and PC hardware. If you get higher end hardware, chances are that the game will run better than on a console. BUT, there's the aspect of optimization. Games are primarily developed with consoles in mind with very fixed hardware. Some developers don't spend time optimizing PC ports so while a PC may have more power than a console, the games may not necessarily run better on a PC than on a console. The games are usually optimized with time, but it can be hit or miss depending on the developers.

I have a hard lined custom built PC and I still prefer the console experience. One always over looked point is the OS. With a PS5 there is one thing to update, no driver conflicts no multiple games stores to manage, no odd things running in the background, etc. Turn it on, play. The steam deck (which I also have) is the closest PC experience to this because it doesn’t have the hot mess known as Windows running in the background. I don’t need the maintenance. I wish the gaming PC offered this and hopefully SteamOS will make it happen someday. Sony may be the first company to crack VR into something desirable by the masses with PS VR2, not because it has the best stats but because they will have the developers the PC is missing to make engaging games. Lastly, the best controllers are always developed for consoles and later used for the PC and the PC often doesn’t integrate haptics as well as a console does. It’s not all roses for PCs. :)
@ErockOnTech
@ErockOnTech Жыл бұрын
I agree about the controllers. I game primarily on PC but I used an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller. I love it. I also used to think the same thing about the OS. When I first came to PC, that was one of the things I missed the most. But now I understand why it’s not like that. You can turn things off in the background on windows if you really want to. You can run a slim version of windows that has all the bloat removed. It’s called Ghost Spectre and it’s quite nice. I would recommend checking it out. You can also just use Linux. But there is less than 100% game compatibility. So be aware of that. Consoles have the OS they have because they are locked down. It is a closed system. PC is an open system. Both have advantages and disadvantages.

I upgraded my gpu from rx480 to rx6600, and the result did not quite live up to my expectations, and I had to force myself to upgrade my cpu as well. @@rewpertcone8243 it really depends on your country but. Just lower your settings the PS5 has high textures many of it's settings to medium and low/mid draw distance.just do that🤷‍♂️

One of my biggest issues is I have a 1440p ultra wide and pc is more powerful then most pc users yet i play on consoles cause their hooked to my 65” g2 oled. Console games running in 4K or pc games running in 1440p. I can easily get a long hdmi wire and hook pc up to my tv but I personally can’t decide. I don’t play with friends on console anymore so been thinking of jumping back into my pc that i build and just collects dust
