There is a live ranking and all the top riders are there so you will see where you are and what is the benchmark. A gps will let you explore your different lines and find out what is faster without guessing. All the top riders are using Racebox nowadays which has a very good precision and can give you the data you need to get faster. You can then time yourself anywhere, even on some custom track you have on a parking lot or anywhere. If you have any local group or a smaller race you can attend its definitelly as the race itself is a lot of stress and its good to learn your routine so you do it automatically and can concentrate as much as possible on the race details. Feel the heat of the race and the stress of making a mistake when it matters. Prepare for technical issues what can go wrong and have tools to fix it. Even just signing yourself for public karting race if you can is a great practice, because you learn how to navigate on the track, what does it mean to defend etc. Karting will also make you feel more comfortable with the limits of a track in general because you feel safer there.
