Ethan's story has completely changed my life. My story is similar to his except for the acting part. I was over 400 lbs in 8th grade and my max at the beginning of the year is just under 600 lbs at 26. I had accepted that I would be dead by 30 and this video showed up in my feed. I watched it and realized that I wasn't okay with dying by 30. I started losing weight and being outside just for the sake of being outside. Because I was outside so much, I managed to meet a girl who completely changed my life as well. Just like in Ethan's story, she likes to hike and do things that I know I can't do, so I've started to work out and work on getting my body able to do the things she likes. So far in just under 6 months, I'm down 75 lbs. This is my lowest weight I've been at in over 3 years and I have no intention to stop. My next goal is to lose 100 lbs by the end of the year. Thank you Ethan for sharing your story. You have inspired me to change my life in ways that I never thought were possible.

Congrats on the 75! I hope you're still going strong! I just started my own journey in January to lose 65-85. Down 20 just doing the same thing he did. Calculate my TDEE and eat a deficit.
@zevvalentine

Thanks! I did end up getting my goal! I broke 100lbs with about 2 weeks to go in December. I'm currently sitting at 125 lbs off and I'm trying to get 150 by the end of June (roughly 25 lbs every 3 months). I just got my blood work back and of the dozen or so medical issues I had, I've gotten all but 3 fixed and under control, the most important is I was diabetic, but now, I'm not even in the prediabetic range anymore. Of the 3 issues I have left, they are so close to being normal that at my current rate, within 6 mo they should be normal. This has been/is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but even though I'm only 1/3 of the way there, it's easily the best decision of my life!!
@zevvalentine
@zevvalentine 3 жыл бұрын
@@SuperSodrak thanks! I am indeed still going strong! You got this! I know it seems daunting, but it is so worth it! Of all the diets I've tried over the years, just staying in a deficit is easily the best one I've tried with the best results. Just stick with it, even when times get tough and you'll pull through!

This just inspires me so much more... I gave up on myself 18 months ago when I hit 430lbs and my scale maxed out. Something in me snapped after a couple of weeks of considering suicide, and I looked up how to lose weight consistently.. Found Dr Mike and learned about setting a caloric deficit and the rest is history. Today I weighed in at 260 lbs and it's the skinniest I've been since 6th grade, no joke. To anyone out there wondering, you've got this! You can do this, and you will succeed... just keep pushing and never give up!

It’s so crazy hearing him talking about the different stages of dieting he went through before he found what worked. I’ve been dieting for over a year now. I’ve lost 120 pounds all together. It’s just crazy word for word what he says is what I went through even down to him needing goals. That’s something I learned the past year is if I don’t have a goal or something to work for I’m not very happy. Ever since I came to that realization, ever since I came to terms of a lot of my trauma my goal of losing weight has been achieved. Now I’m working on building muscle and toning my body more. Losing weight made me feel like I took control over my life. Always stay humble.

It really is as simple as he said and you probably experienced yourself. Nutritional education based on real science should be taught at school. It's a lack of knowledge about how weight gain and loss really works that has enabled swindlers to exploit that lack of knowledge with fad diets that don't work.

October 5 will be 11 years I dropped 147lb from 289 I hear all the methods he tried and yet his main goal was to be healthy. I made the decision to do bariatric surgery, and I'm so blessed I did. Yet many see it like I did before my decision, you are taking the easiest way out. But in reality it was a risk that gave me my life back. The goal was to be healthy. The hardest part has been making the right choices the passed 10 plus years. In any weight loss, maintenance will always be the decision maker to continue your health on track. I am 46 160lb and I'm more physically active now then in my mid 20's and 30's I love listening to stories that encourage me to continue my goal. 💪 Awesome job to him...

I have a friend who's tried losing weight in a similar manner, he knows he's doing things wrong by default, but he didn't know how to approach it. He had the same idea of "now I'm motivated and want to see results" instead of "now I'm gonna struggle and change my life for good", so he failed dieting multiple times and the guilt just kept building up. These Ethan Suplee videos resonated with him in a sense, a nice and relatable person who was huge but got in this shape. That it's a slow and calm process which comes from doing a thing or two right at a time and making them a habit, that small slips are gonna happen but are not the end of it, and that the progress isn't gonna be linear success from start to finish. Now he's been at it for a while and doesn't seem to be losing his belief in the process and is hanging in there.
