EU Floetrol vs US Floetrol vs AU Floetrol Consistency Is Key

I am figuring out the ratio for getting the same consistency in Acrylic Pouring Mediums. I compare the European Owatrol to the US Flood Floetrol and the Australian Floetrol. There is a huge difference, which obviously is extremely important when you follow different artists' recipes.
According to my findings these are the ratios:
50 ml EU Floetrol + 12 ml water = US Floetrol
50 ml EU Floetrol + 30 ml water = AU Floetrol
50 ml US Floetrol + 18 ml water = AU Floetrol
Now if you want an easier way to remember it, it should be close enough if you round up/down by using 10 ml in the EU to US mix, 20 ml in the US to AU mix and 30 in the EU to AU mix. Or maybe easier:
1 part EU Floetrol + 0,24 part water = US Floetrol
1 part EU Floetrol + 0,60 part water = AU Floetrol
1 part US Floetrol + 0,36 part water = AU Floetrol

@@JanCArt Your testing is absolutely helpful. Today I have prepared some Owatrol and already mixed it up with distilled water using the ratio 1 part Owatrol to 0,6 parts water.😊👨🏻‍🎨

The consistency for cell activator is much thinner than the other paints you use. I use 1 part Amsterdam oxide black for instance to 3 parts Australian floetrol. It’s hard to explain it any other way. With the base coat it really depends on which pm you use. I mainly use the European floetrol, or a German equivalent which is thicker. I typically mix one part Amsterdam paint with three parts European floetrol and then add between half to one part water. But it depends on what type of pour I am doing. For instance Dutch pour needs to be much thinner in order for you to be able to blow it out.

Thanks for doing this, I’ve always wanted to know the answer. One question - it looks like you’re using the scale to measure how much you add, but you’re saying millimeters, not grams. Did you figure out the density to convert from grams to ml?

You're ver welcome Steve. My scale can measure in ml, so I use ml. However, 1 gr and 1 ml is the same I'd say.

Cells can easily be made with Australian Floetrol, but also easy to get in techniques like open cup pour and flip cups, as well as when you’re swiping thin consistencies and use metal paints. Floetrol is a pm.

So 80ml is 2/3 so i should ad about 40ml of paint?

I’m talking about how to get the same consistency in the floetrols. I am not discussing how much paint should be used in this video? How much paint you should add depends on the paint, what kind of pour you are making and the consistency of the floetrol. I’m not sure what you mean with your question.

80 ml would be 2/3 of 120 ml. But again I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. I normally mix my paints with 1 part paint to 3 parts floetrol. The consistency on the floetrols decides whether I add water, and how much. Which again is decided by what technique I’m using.

Although only had 1 year experience with acrylic pour painting the consistency explanation was not clear. Adding ml’s to what and what? Is the Aussie floetrol on the left or right? Is the Aussie floetral thicker? Go more slowly and share what you are doing as though you are talking to a beginner. Meant to be constructive.

The Aussie Floetrol is the bottle that says Aussie Floetrol on it?! I don’t think I can clarify that better. Aussie Floetrol is the thinnest floetrol, that’s why I explain how you add water to the US and EU floetrols to get the AU consistency.
