Euro NCAP Crash & Safety Tests of Opel/Vauxhall Astra 2022

Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
- a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
- a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
- a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
- a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.
Additional tests and checks have been done to ensure that the rating also applies to the Astra Plug-in Hybrid.

For both the driver and passenger, dummy readings of chest compression indicated a marginal level of protection for that part of the body.

The AEB is surprisingly poor! Luckily it would only take software tweaks to improve this score.

I see quality is already slipping since GM sale. The last two model Astra’s got 5 stars.

Astra J kasa niçin devam etmiyor, o bir efsane, sağlamlık, yol tutuş gibi o J kasa astra'dan hangi düşünce ile vazgeçtiniz sebep nedir, üzgünüm....

First time i see one with 16” alloy wheels. All press cars got 17/18”. Still looks nice 👍🏻

@@filipborin555 I work at an Opel Dealer and I can tell you that GM era Opels are better built and feel safer than PSA/Stellantis era ones.

Lol, even before i opened the video i knew the result would be below 5 stars, Stellantis is having a really hard time getting 5 stars, i guess the current modular platform isnt that great, im also not surprised about the safety aid systems, they've been cutting R&D for years now, they're just focused in maximizing their profits for shareholders, and preparing for the electric future, they still have the same 1.2 petrol engine, with the belt problem (it will have a 3rd redesign with mild hybrid technology), the 1.5 HDi isn't particularly reliable and it has the adblue problem, they still hsve the old 1.6 engine, that was co-engineered with BMW (improved over the years, but its still an old bloc) and that's it, thankfully for them, their cars do look nice. But look an the new hybrids from Renault, they're miles away from the ones at Stellantis (plug-in hybrids suck hard), what renault achieved wirh the austral and the clio e-tech is marvelous, just like the new hybrid powertrain from toyota

I couldn’t give two hoots about “assist” because I expect to drive my car and pay attention to the road. None of my previous cars have ever had such things and I’ve not had a single accident in over 20 years of driving!

@LinuxFanboyPL A lot of these systems can brake and correct all on its own, plus these apply max brake force so by the time you've heard the 'bongs' (i.e. when the system has recognised an object ahead) it will be too late anyway. And PSA got bought by Chrysler/Stellantis like a year ago.

Considering the current price tags of those cars, C segment hatchbacks just doesn't deserve any excuse on safety, or excuse anywhere for that matter. In this case, Astra' base price of 32490€ is no joke, rather tragedy.

Comme l'Astra est basée sur la 308, pas étonnant que les résultats soient décevants. Comme dab, une nouvelle fois la preuve que les rachats / fusions ne sont bénéfiques que pour les actionnaires, grace aux économies d'échelle, jamais pour les consommateurs.

Je trouve ça bien les économies d’échelle, car niveau sécurité Stellantis Aurait pu et aurait du faire le max pour obtenir 5 étoiles sur chaque modèle sorti. Content de rouler en Volkswagen.

A clear feeling that 5 stars are given for a bribe, an aster in safety at the level of many cars that received 5 stars, while the euroncap does not explain why exactly 4 stars, what exactly is bad in it

Ah get out of here have you seen Golf test? Can't you spot any difference in that and this? Are you okay with hitting your head to door like they did in Astra's first test??

@@suicidism Show respect when writing to a person, I saw a golf test and there was nothing impressive there, 5 stars were given only for the central pillow, which in the future can be installed as an option on an astra. Praise this golf, a bucket of bolts, downright funny

Still all french cars have problem that there are not activated window airbags during 30%front crash.. It is not safe car..

Realy bad result for Astra. Golf and Leon have best results. I dont like astra hasnt any middle center airbag. And side airbags dont open while front crash.

Do golf and leon have central airbags? No, they don't, for this reason, now these cars would be on par with the aster, since safety requirements have been tightened
