Removing the head side airbag was the worst car manufacturer idea ever, bad buzz coming for Renault.

No side airbags No AEB There's no chance to save your life

This is very bad news for Renault. The Zoé is one of the best selling EVs in Europe (if not the best) this will hurt further sales

Renault needs to update the Zoe. It’s been in production for almost a decade, and has no replacement.

If you want to know what kind of company Renault is: when the Kwid body cometely collapsed in the failed the Ncap test in India, they decided to make it stronger. And indeed at the next test the body did not collapse. But when ncap engineers inspected the car they noticed that only the driver side was reinforced, because that is the side that is tested. That car is now sold as Dacia Spring, but this time they improved the structure on both sides.

This is madness. How could Renault not afford to keep the side head airbag in the Zoe when Dacia managed to keep it in the Spring! The literally based on the same platform and the Spring is cheaper!!

This is a serious reputational damage for the Renault Zoe.

Very strange. I thought it came with 6 airbags as standard in every EU market.

Seems like an easy remedy is to equip it with a proper side impact/curtain system. Shame on Renault.

Why was the head and throrax side airbag removed and replaced with a thorax-only airbag for the facelift, which is less effective than what it had before?

Was going to get one but heard about the side airbag removal so checked out EuroNCAP. Thanks to your testing you could have saved my life (and wallet!!).

Hard for zoé. Euroncap straigthen their test each 2 years, so the initial test result of 2015 must be less now. But here, seems that some components are worst than before. And it's not because it's not a suv. Last clio is one of the best euroncap vehicle.

Zero stars, yikes! Euro standard is really high. Visually I see the crash structures doing its job well, especially the frontal impacts. Scary how the south east asian market cars fare in this tests, probably a negative star.

Alpine A110 is another Renault that would get zero stars, because it doesn't have side airbags.

Happy to see this - after having bought one in May this year. Remembering back 50 years, my father bought a Renault and said only a few month later, that this was the first and the last one. History will repeat itself.....

Side curtain airbag is not installed in Renault Zoe?? It is shocking for a car sold in 2021. Side airbag has been standard for almost all cars at least 10 years ago.

I find it unacceptable in this day and age any car to not have a head-protecting side airbag given the proven effectiveness of side airbags with head protection and higher standards on safety! Any car lacking this essential feature deserves to automatically be a 0-star car! Renault should be ashamed of themselves!

Here in South Africa most entry level cars only include front airbags which really bugs me as that doesn’t offer any real protection or peace or mind as accidents aren’t just head on collisions, but because our safety rules are in the toilet manufacturers can offer this and just sell cars on style and stand out features like you’d find on higher end cars, the problem is that all these cars sold with next to no safety features have no real crash test data to show the dangers of cutting safety for style, this video is a great reminder to those that think that 2 airbags is good enough and will hopefully make them think twice before making the purchase based on looks and an omitting safety. To me safety comes before anything else and always will.

On The 2013 Ncap test Zoe delivered 5 stars. That's why I bought a Zoe ze 50 this year and not a Spring:)). The structural damage inside looks fine, the main fault of Zoe is the lack of electronic safety features... Happy with nu Zoe

Extremely rigid body, but also very poor restraint systems. Looking at the movies and the NCAP pdf file, I see no seatbelt tensioners on the rear seats, no head/shoulder airbags on the sides, no active whiplash protection, no automatic brakes against multiple collisions. That's basically the level of a 1994 Volvo 850 - 27 years ago!!! However, the car can easily be upgraded, and that's what Renault should do.

How does it compare to the new Clio?

Usually these tests are done with standard equipment. There should be a test with additional safety systems as well.

0 star that is seriously shocking plus why is there no side airbags? no wonder it got such a low score and at 1:17 the rear door is open. 1:25 the driver in a real crash would most likely be dead after that due to no side airbag.
