I will never be okay with this narrative that black people need all these products to make our hair ‘grow’. Like no, that’s what hair does. It grows!! (Unless someone has a medical issue) It makes me so upset that people lie and push this toxic narrative that we need all these products. My routine is literally the simplest it’s ever been (shampoo, condition and style with one product) and it’s literally the healthiest it’s ever been!! Ughhh I hate that we’ve been lied to for so long! And you’re right! It’s not just hair!! Thanks for speaking about this, Mayowa!

Honestly, I don't even think they'd even WANT to be involved with the fakeness Bazarr is pushing. They know THEIR locs are real/natural and that some "shampoo" didn't miraculously grow their hair down their backs in the matter of months either, like Eva is claiming. So I'm actually GLAD they aren't promoting anything for them. Money is NOT everything, but maintaining the integrity of your character IS.

Hair growth rate if you don't have underlying health issues like Alopecia, is between 0.5 to 0.7 inches per month. That's 6 inches in a year at best, If you can retain that length. As someone who formulates 🌱hair products, this 6 months progress from a shampoo, is false abegi!!!!🤣😂🤣😂 This needs to stop tbh...it's the reason folks come to me with unrealistic expectations for hair products. For the average I agree, especially my 4a/b fine hair, its full of pretty coils but just won't effin grow for the life of me. I might mite get 4 in. a year and my ends break just as fast. But my daughter is 4C with the thickest healthiest hair strands (grows a darker brown/ black in color than mine too, which I presume proves her melanin in her hair is richer ), she has never had a relaxer either ever (she's 26 now) but she has colored it and then let it grow out without recoloring and I can tell you from the line of demarcation. her hair grew well over 6 in. more like 7-8 in in 10 months! Her hair just grows like you paying it to. She also isn't in to styling it much either she just leaves it alone, mostly in a bun. Some ppl's hair just grow faster than others. But Eva, she lying her a** off and she never seemed an honest person to me.
@moreni2nd405
@moreni2nd405 2 жыл бұрын
@@nnaturalheaven3754 Of course that's the average growth rate. When it comes to growth, alot of factors are at play (diet, DHT & Cortisol hormones, genetics and hairstyling habits)...that's why no two persons will have the same growth rate. Your daughter's hair might be doing so well because her scalp's intergrity is still intact from not using relaxers at all or she doesn't have those hormones in excess or genes(a part of yours and her father), and she's able to retain more length by doing low manipulative styles. However, this lady attributing what looks like 12 inches growth in 6 months from just a shampoo is ridiculous! Products with quality 🌱 ingredients helps, but we need to be realistic and not discount the other factors.

I agree with you. I would say, I personally don't really like the term nappy for kinky hair because my mother's culture is Jamaican. She raised me and in that culture, a nappy is a diaper. Which is literally where the reference towards kinky hair stems-seeing kinky hair as looking like poop in a diaper. So I will always see it as derogatory because of the longstanding cultural connotations of using that word in regards to kinky hair. Eva has been problematic for years and she got away with a lot because black folk love putting a light bright with light eyes on a pedestal. Times are slowly changing but not fast enough in my opinion. We still have elite groups of 'black' people in the united states who are generational mixes holding most of the wealth and prestige in the black community that they inherited from their slave master fathers and mothers. That isn't discussed a lot because they are protected by their money and standing.

You're so on point. I have been locked for almost 25 years. I have NEVER used that many products. I am semi- free form as I started manicured but for the last 10 years haven't retwisted. I wash with black soap or Dr. Bonners and put some type of oil in it and...that's it. Not doing all that stuff. Locs are not for that, like if you're locked just cause it's I style now.

@@mayowasworld not only that, it makes your locs smell....which is why they think they have to wash their locs so frequent....if you're using lots of products of course you have to wash often....cause you got ish in your locs. Less is more when it comes to locs, I know from personal experience. You can't do the same thing to your locs like when you had a perm, extensions, loose natural etc....just know that there's very few products out there made specifically for locs. Dr. Bronners is not shampoo, it's not even real castille soap. It's natural liquid soap, I know because I make my own soap at home and I use some of the same ingredients. Some people swear by it for their locs while others have issues.

Even when you have hair with "weird textures" that don't really fall into one category or other (because man, my hair be like soft curls at the back of my neck and mostly fuzzy to real kinky on the top of my head) there's nothing that you do that "makes your hair grow". It either grows or doesn't (genetics) and then, most people who think their hair doesn't grow often thinks that because they keep breaking the damn hair by pulling on it with the wrong instruments... More often then not, if you leave the hair alone you'll see it grow. I was so sick and tired of people asking me what I put in my hair to make it grow. The answer? Nothing! I do nothing to my hair to make it grow! In fact, I cut it all off not once, twice in my life. People should stop lying about hair.

Firstly, you look super cute as always. Love the necklace. Regarding the ripped jeans, I'm from the Caribbean, my dad is in his 80s and feels the same. He explained that when he worked in the cane fields, they would have to wear the thickest denim and the cane blades were so sharp that it would rip the denim to threads within days. They were paid less than 25c a day for their labor. When ripped jeans came into to fashion, he felt as if it was spitting in the face of persons like him who practically slaved away in the fields. Now some white man was making a fashion statement and millions off of their suffering. Eva, ugh. A while back I saw a video on IG, a page called Nappstar, company of the products she's selling and she was getting her extensions removed by the owner, a light skinned black woman. Her hair didn't even reach her shoulders when it was removed. To see a video like this knowing there's one with the take down of the fake locs is madness. It's sloppy and neither her or Nappstar cared to even hide the lie. Eva is a colorist, she problematic but she's also a biracial, green eyed woman who will get a pass because who really cares about insults thrown at dark women with actually kinky hair? The excuse would be that she's black too so it's fine. It took 5 years for my 4c hair to visually reached my shoulders. I started my journey with shoulder length hair but as it started to loc, it tighten so much that it shrinked to almost half its original length. There's no magical way to grow hair, it takes time and patience.

oh wowww thank you so much for explaining this- it actually makes sense. smh wow, yeah I can see how its white people positing off a fashion of those who actually did manual labor. omg I just saw this ig video!! lol she is so wild because there's actually so much evidence of her lying. and ur right there is no magic and thats what makes the natural hair journey special because one has to just wait. thank u for writing all that you did
