Unfortunately that's far from true. Cambridge just uninvited the "great racist" named Jordan Peterson... That's just the latest in what could literately be pages worth of examples I could list from so called schools that are far more expensive to attend than evergreen. And no I didn't write that wrong. evergreen doesn't deserve a capitalization...

@@Sceth It's a sad sort of thing I have seen since Google fired James Damore; lefty people condemning someone for what they assume is in their writings. I saw Damore condemned again and again by people, in ways that showed they made no attempt to read his 10 page memo. Similar with the Christchurch shooter, they call him a "white supremacist", yet people who quote his manifesto say he was all over the political spectrum. Unfortunately, by the time I decided I wanted to read that manifesto for myself, it was scrubbed from the internet. So I can believe these narrow-minded self-absorbed people would call Jordan Peterson a racist, it's not true, but it fits the lefty mindset. In Peterson's case, he has at least 2 books out and most of his professional life is on video, on KZfaq. If they could actually find a racist line in there somewhere, I'm sure they would quote it endlessly. I really can't understand the hatred of Jordan Peterson except that he won't bend to the insanity of SJW thought.

@@condew6103 The funny part of all of it is, no one ever heard of Peterson until the left threw a shit fit. He wouldn't play their pronoun game and they had a meltdown. They gave him prime time coverage and gave him an audience. People were starved for a reasonable, common sense academic that didn't buy into the insanity. They created this "monster" and now all they can do is try and frame him as something he is clearly not. The only thing I have ever heard him say is don't be a goddamn child your whole life and take reasonability for your actions and life. Clearly, a message that would be like nails on a chalkboard for the sniveling SJW's.

@Citizen 1491 seriously after four years at a school in the middle of a rainforest, you should not be afraid anymore. You should have been *encouraged* to explore the woods. That's a major part of Evergreen's attractiveness. The fact that she spent so much time in our environment and didn't even figure out how to appreciate the natural world is appalling and completely shatters whatever social justice blah blah blah she is trying to do; she literally just reinforced all the stereotypes about black people being frightened by the forest. Its humiliating. What are the professors doing? There is literally an organic farm at Evergreen that teaches sustainable agriculture. There are ways to make independent contracts with the focus on forestry and small forest land management. Its insane that someone like her could be chosen to give that graduation speech. 🙄 Oh well...maybe she will spend some time in a place that will make her marvel at the natural world without screaming for slash and burn someday 😂. One can dream right?

I was raised by a mother that was a victim of everything. It would never in my wildest dreams have occurred to me that her interpretations of the world were not actual reality. The things we (my family) were "victims" of were just facts. Cruel, unjust facts of life, real and true. I was in my twenties the first time a friend in college challenged some of the victim interpretations I had inherited from my mother. I was horrified and hurt. I was stunned that someone I'd thought was decent and good was actually callous, cold and blind. I could not hear my friend. *And I really, really could not hear myself.* It took many more friends, a lot of therapy, and about 10 more years to get where I am now. Everything I have and everything I don't, everything good and everthying bad in my life, everything I've ever achieved and every single failure is mine. Mine alone. I am not a "victim" of anything. Shit happens. Then you crawl out of it and keep going. My mother never got there. She is still a victim of everything. And I know her well enough to know she believes her interpretations completely. They are her reality. And I remember what that felt like. I know for certain that she really can't hear herself. That is why this is so chilling to me. Some of these people will stumble across paths similar to the one that saved me, but many never will. And they can do so, so much damage to the people around them in the meantime.

@KirstenMarie_MS3 5 жыл бұрын
@@bchin4005 Depends on what you mean by "safe spaces." The phrase originally had a very precise definition in the worlds of education and psychology, where safe spaces are most commonly employed. It was a place where you could any questions, express any opinion, learn any task, have any debate (etc, etc.) without fear of being bullied, mocked, or ridiculed. Class rooms are the most common example. Notice, though, that in the original use of the phrase, there was nothing that said you wouldn't encounter people with different opinions or ideologies. The whole point was to challenge people and help them learn what to do when an idea or value is challenged in a nonthreatening environment. However, the phrase has been twisted and warped from its original meaning. Now they take it to mean an echo chamber where every thinks like me and agrees with me. Which was never the intent. Tl;Dr The safe space, as originally implemented has firm roots in developmental psychology and sociology. But the idea has been hikacked a warped until it's almost unrecognizable.

And what's worse they'll be perfectly unaware of what they're doing. They will actually believe that dividing people into categories and tribes is conductive to societal success and that arbitrary dispensation of justice according to arbitrary and largely subjective criteria is the way towards a healthier society. Evergreen is producing really destructive cadre, true vermin. If you want to suicide a company for business reasons, just hire some Evergreen "experts" for the job. More over I'm tired of this run around, we know what the problem is, we know who's teaching it...i say enough, we need to pull into the light the people who teach and push this agenda forward, these crazy professors need to be exposed instead of us only seeing and hearing their student pawns, we need to find the root and challenge them, and let them be made fools in the public eye, im tired of these people pushing this forward and all we ever deal with is the effects of these indoctrinated students like this ideology is the boogeyman. We need to find out WHO is indoctrinating these kids, and EXPOSE them, if they feel so right about teaching this to the next generation they should feel perfectly well to defend their ideas in the public eye, its the only way we will be able to stop this madness.

So the speaker basically divided the graduates into 2 parts, and said the 2nd part better watch out because the 1st part was planning on "chopping them down" if they got in their way. Basically validated the notion that the 1st part can and should attack the 2nd and that the 2nd should just take it. What a positive message. Evergreen has learned NOTHING except more critical race theory and identity politics. That's not divisive. That's not destructive. That's not bat-shit crazy.

Trees grow like grass in western Washington State. That is why it is called The Evergreen State. The color palate of the landscape in Washington state is dominated by seemingly infinite shades of green. The woods are not frightening, and they are certainly not vacant. This land is teeming with life; raccoons, deer, mice, sloths, possums, stellar jays, ravens, woodpeckers, centipedes, a vast array of fungi and ferns, and broad carpets of moss. Even the bears are not frightening in western Washington. They are frightened of you! Higher education in Washington State is largely funded through the taxes on the timber industry. And yet there is this refrain among this naima crew of how frightening the woods are; and how they want to clearcut the land, to strip it bare. This is a telling metaphor for what they seek to do; to turn the world into a wasteland, some sort of post apocalyptic ghetto. The prospect of being still long enough to hear what the trees have to tell is beyond them. The forest is comprised of a vast array of individual trees; hemlock, western red cedar, redwood, vining maple, alder, tamarack, and a variety of fir trees. Each tree has a particular texture, scent, and range of color. Each tree has a spirit of it's own, a voice of it's own, and an authentic story of it's own. That is the beauty of the forest. And, that is what so frightens these identitarians. In time, these people will clear through the system at TESC, but wherever they go, they will seek to manifest the ghetto that they have embodied. This is a sort of demon possession. That is why they hate the trees. Trees are strong and resilient, and generative. Trees are the lungs of the earth. Of course they fear the forest, it is full of ancient and immutable wisdom. The forest, in time, does regenerate itself. But the spiritual disease that these people carry is incurable and fatal. They seek to set themselves apart from civil society, and yet to reap it's benefits. A wiser tribe would have cast them out. That is the traditional means of dealing with those who violate the social contract. Let them live as lone wolves. I fear that there isn't enough lipstick in the world to pretty up this pig. TESC does not have a marketing problem. It has a quality control problem in it's executive leadership. The whole insane snapping, ranting, potty mouthed sjw schtick is a product without a market.
@ivermec-tin666
@ivermec-tin666 5 жыл бұрын
@nothing to see here Perhaps you missed the video in which these cretins heaped abuse on the former President of TESC, Mr. Purcell? You don't shit on a man who dedicated decades of service to your college. And, in this video, to paint bullying and infantile tantrums as caring and parental? Some actions are beyond the pale. Some sins are unforgivable. Some people are incapable of participating in civil society. They are to be cast out. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. The destruction of a College is not a childish or petty thing. It is a serious business with significant consequences.

@@Kurtlane There are several different kinds of sloths. Yes, there is at least one variety that inhabits the forests of Western Washington. They are fascinating creatures, but nocturnal and very slow moving. I spent many hours in the forest near my childhood home about 7 miles outside of Olympia. There was a sloth that inhabited the stand of trees a few hundred yards from my home... I left out the elk, and the moose. The forest is full of life. I have seen clearcut logging in action and witnessed it's aftermath. The contrast leaves a deep and lasting impression. Seeing the streams dry up, the soil wash away, and the deer vacate the land. The healing is slow.

**Evergreen State College Alumnus, Class of 1998** Ahh yes. Oh how well I remember...I transferred to Evergreen midway through my Sophomore year. I moved approximately 2,200 miles away and knew no one. It was exciting... new school...new people...new environment... Within two weeks, I became consciously aware of something...yet...I couldn't pinpoint it. It was an odd feeling. Maybe it was all in my head. "Seminar" is an integral component of Evergreen's approach to education. On paper, they define "Seminar" as "an open-ended, loosely structured conversation between students and faculty within a program or course". It was in Seminar that I was introduced to my new reality. Naive and new to this system, I went off script. I felt the one-sided discussion would benefit from an opposing view point. However, I was told, in just as many words, my opinion, argument or view means nothing. Why? I was guilty of the crime of having born white. This is a grave, serious crime for which you must pay. Having European ancestry is similar to a scarlet letter, except it's my face. As a white male, there is however one, slightly elevated social perch available. It may potentially be yours if you accept your privilege and personal responsibility for the world’s atrocities, inequalities, violence, rapes, wealth gaps, gender pay gaps, genocides, power hierarchies, etc. Once you accept this guilt, it is your duty to wield that white privilege to scorn all other whites that haven't yet voluntarily dehumanized themselves.
