It's even better to rewatch it after you've gone into the deep end, either with Mike Duncan's History of Rome or channels like Thersites the Historian, The Historian's Craft, Toldinstone, Flash Point History, Maorianus etc. He does a great job of summarizing the major events and highlights the major players.

I really want him to do an unbiased history of the Spanish Empire or him to continue the Byzantine miniseries but with a timejump all the way to the Macedonian Dynasty if he wants to avoid upsetting the Muslims and skip over the 7th century. @jacaredosvudu1638 we actually do have some reliable records, its just that all generations tend to prefer the wild stories relayed by those who really wanted to smear Caligula. The Emperor would have known about the official history and would have attempted to control that while he was alive, but that never prevented private senators and amateur historians from recording rhings he did or didnt do. And not every generation of writer had the same motivations for smearing him. I imagine many histories were written, and most of the sensationalized ones are left with comparatively very very little of the truthful accounts left

@@ronald556 Great Schism happened in 1054, Holy Roman Empire appeared around 200 years earlier, and yet, the pope, without the agreement of other patriarchs declared it "Roman Empire". It has to heraldry to Rome. There was already a Rome in existence at that time, and it was in Constantinople.

It can be tricky when you discuss tyrannical rulers. They're politically on the right, of course...but I'd argue the worst of them would be firmly in the red quadrant. Rulers like Nero, Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Pol Pot were mass murderers - in a few of those cases, arguably serial killers. And homicidal maniacs tend to be ideologically leftist, being natural anarchists.

Can't think of a more interesting and difficult video. Some are easy: Montezuma II was centralizing the Triple Alliance, the Purepechas were still North Koreaning their borders, the last Sapa Inca (Atahualpa?) was still persecuting everyone that had supported his brother, and I can see them keeping up with those policies. But all the other nations we have little idea of what they were doing? Oh man. We will never know what was going on the Mississipi chiefdoms, Haida Gwaii, the city of Kuhikungu and so many many others.
