This worked for my 2019 f250 and now I got the new layout and love it. As long as your half way competent with a computer and can answer basic info about your vehicle you shouldn’t have any issues. Thanks for the video

2019 F-250. Touch screen lagged, would drop bluetooth calls, screen would not react to touch at times. Dealer said they would diagnose for $150, common problem, but it was probably the apim module and repair would be around $1,000. Found this video, followed exactly as it said, and problem solved exactly as Everyday Man said! Thank you

Absolutely AMAZING!!! Worked flawlessly in my 17 Explorer Sport. I'll admit, I was nervous. But SOOOOO glad I did this. Now it's lightning fast. Nav is spot on. I'm no longer driving around in corn fields or in a lake. Looks more modern. It was free. Like, how can something this great be free, right? An absolute win win no matter how you slice it. Now I'm glad I didn't put my fist through that lagging screen. Came close a few times. Thank you for uploading.

Just did this in my 2017 Ford Taurus Limited. It had the Sync 3.0. Updated to Sync 3.4. Much better. The old Sync would take forever to load and would never connect to my phone. Now it is so fast and responsive. Love it!

My sync 3 on my 2018 f150 was in bad shape lagging big time. I downloaded and installed this fix and it works perfectly. Unbelievable!!!! You (and CyanLabs) saved me from having to buy a new APIM module! We have a 2016 Escape that was on Sync 3 version 1.0 was constantly lagging/freezing that made it unusable. Your video and link to update from CyanLabs revived this unit so it is usable again. Thanks!

Great Video! Just as a FYI to all that have and will preform this upgrade as I did earlier this year in my 2019 F350 I recently found out that once you’ve updated the APIM any map updates or SYNC that become available in you MY FORD account will not recognize your SYNC/APIM and any SYNC and map up days will now have to come from CYAN LABS . Which is no BIG DEAL this is strictly an FYI comment as I have found this out when FORD just recently released their newest map update.

The KZfaq algorithm takes me here probably because I made a video of the same damn problem😂😎🤦🏽‍♂️ I did the APIM software update; tested the APIM by going through some of the diagnostic tests and once GPS functions crapped out, everything has been working flawlessly the past 1+ years since I made the video. It’s definitely a GPS problem that I’ll get the update for when I get around to it👍🏽

I bought a used 2018 Explorer XLT from a dealer last week. Unfortunately, my test drive wasn't log enough to see the MAJOR lag and GPS issues the SYNC 3 system was having. The system was so laggy, I couldn't do an official system update via WiFi or USB. The Ford USB update will only have the "Updating System Software" message at the top of the screen with no progress indicator. I gave it 2.5 hours before giving up (engine has to be running the entire time...). Cyan's update worked perfectly! Within a minute or two, it was already going through the APIM reformatting and update, giving progress updates the entire time. It did give a message to remove the USB and turn the engine off then on at the beginning of the update. Ignore this and let it do its thing. Took about 45 minutes. Seems to run perfect now. Thank you!

I have a 2017 Ford Expedition that started encountering similar issues that everyone else seems to have. The Sync 3 system would not come on until a few mins after the vehicle was started, would take some time to be responsive etc. It really feels like the software on the APIM becomes laggy like an old windows laptop :). I'm sure the memory is fragmented, the file structures are full etc. I used the latest update from cyan labs as described here. This does a complete reformat of the APIM and it now works as good or perhaps better than it ever did. I saw the video from @Kinetic Energy 1085.... I honestly do not think it's directly related to the GPS, rather I think the system becomes so bogged down that it tries to load the map system and either struggles heavily (like mine was doing) or it simply can't. When the GPS failed, it no longer tries to the load the maps so it works better.... a complete reformat should fix that...which is different that the usual Ford APIM software update, it's a complete rebuild of the software and its subsystems.

This definitely will come in handy as I've been trying to figure out how to get latest ver of sync my current version is 3.3 I want to get 3.4. I did download the 3.4 from cyanlabs page onto thumb drive, however I just ordered 3 32gb usb drives as I'm going to jailbreak my sync 3 so I'll have to do some more research on updating to 3.4 whether I need to do it prior or after and how etc but definitely will see as I would love it to be as quick as your truck was. Lol

When I plugged mine in the 1st time, it rebooted and continued to reboot. I plugged it back into my computer and there is nothing to "ok" on the drive.

I have a question about the term logo. What is that referring to? It says radio logo? After doing this install my screen is very bland or generic. Although the download did fix all of my other issues. So thank you for that.

I have a '22 Bronco Sport with Sync3 and it's slow AF, but only sometimes. I think it's a heat issue, i.e. the more you use it, the slower it gets or if it's a hot day, it's slow. It locks up occasionally which is very annoying on a brand new car. My Sony head unit from 5 years ago is better.

HI, i dont see at the end the "notice" in the windows when is finished to download to the usb, only show: DOWNLOAD COMPLETE Al files downloaded and verified successfully. do I have to click ok and put the usb in the car ?

I tried this update today and am now stuck on the "insert usb" screen with the mustang logo in the backround. Tried a different usb, master reset, and even just loading up the Ford provided update with no success. Radio is currently bricked in this update mode. Any suggestions?

Hey I just came across this video and downloaded everything to my USB drive! Currently I’m not home so I can’t plug it into my truck yet, but what I’m wondering is, when you plugged the usb in the first time and let the truck do its thing, why did you go back to the computer a second time? Does this download/update need to be done in 2 separate parts? I was mostly just wondering if I didn’t go back to the desktop after the download is complete, will that mess anything up as far as the sync system update?

explorer 2021 has done it , I did not update the maps, feel free to use the functions that say to keep the maps, I don't use the navigation ford maps and you will know why.. they should have google maps built in if they already have wifi data built in so ... lol.. ok it does fix the laggy systems yes, it does not fix the Bluetooth lag between audio and video, thay issue still persist,

HELP!! I just tried this and it’s not working for me. I have a 2018 expedition man. Downloaded onto a usb fine but I go put it in my car and it keeps saying “installation failed. Did you lose the ambient lighting feature?

I can 100% say that @7:40 you pressed yes and then yes again to format drive then copy files. Your next screen said to go put drive in vehicle, come back and put drive into computer. That only happens to verify 2020 or newer to computer. If you had clicked NO at the 2020 screen then yes to the format and copy screen your next screen (after all files including maps) is the download files complete. You CANNOT CYOA on this one everyday boy
