The three of you even impressed my husband this morning with your beautiful outfits! ❤ Betsy - I feel your pain and have an idea for you: When I’ve crocheted flowers with slight issues that are still very pretty - I save them, and use them to top/cover the lid of home canned treats. I think that they the gifts look really special, and all my work & yarn has not gone to waste. Keep up the beautiful making, Ladies! 🎉

Hi ladies, when Simone mentioned she has made hundreds of scarves my first thought was to ask for her top 5 favorites , but she is such an advanced knitter, I m not sure I would be skilled enough to try her suggestions. Great episode.

Your tips and tricks discussions are always so insightful and I keep a little list of the ones I know I'll need to refer back to! I'm not knitting anything new until I finish all of the projects already on my needles and the three afghans waiting to be seamed together! Good luck with your aim of only knitting one project at a time, Kim :). Also, such a BEAUTIFUL video in the harmony section! Thanks for sharing it!

Kim, WOW on the Paisley! 2 at a time - I do it ALL THE TIME with 2 circulars. You avoid the dreaded loop of magic loop, but get the same side-by-side in the round. One tip, I choose circulars with different colored tips. So I don't ever get confused as to which end to use. If you're knitting onto a different color than where they're coming from, you've got the wrong end. :)

LisaR: Kim, I've had really good results in bringing my "too well rested " bobbins back to life by unwinding it onto a knittynoddy , lightly tie in a two places . Lay on a towel & steam with iron or household steamer . It should poof up noticeably and dry very quickly ( about an hour ) Gorgeous projects from everyone!

Betsy- you might try a finchly graft instead of kichner on your mittens- I find it’s a bit cleaner on the edges as it’s done “inside out” and won’t leave the bump of 3 needle bind off. Good luck

Betsy's mittens look great, and I love that red. I hate, hate, hate the Kitchener! I watched every tutorial, followed the advice to skip the set-up at the beginning to "avoid ears," practiced and practiced, and it looks terrible at both ends, every time. I'm a fan of the 3-needle bind-off, even though it does make a "seam" line. It's tidy. The other alternative is to turn the mitten inside out and try the Finchley graft.

To prevent laddering with magic loop make the loop like a cursive e instead of a U; the loop should be twisted closed.

For the rolling in the sweater, if you work it inside out you won't have to untwist the roll. Your fingers will naturally push it open as you work. The weight of the fabric will also rest on your torso/lap and will help with arm and wrist fatigue.

I remember one year we had a very early snow while the leaves were still on the trees. It broke a lot of branches as the snow was so heavy. This year we have had heavy rain falls instead of snow so mud, mud, and more mud. I just hope it dries some before the ground freezes because of the ruts. I think you get the idea on that. Would like to smooth out the ruts first. Oh well, it will be what it will be I guess.

What a lovely podcast -. With lots going on! Cold weather brings out the best work. I loved Simone’s Steingass sweater - Kim’s jacket and Betsy’ shawl. And oh! Marie Wallis’s magic. Simone knitting hers with British Breeds - that sweater will be a real treasure. I *adore* Marie Wallin. Maybe most of anyone. Her colors and subtleties bring depth and texture and highlights - I love that she uses 14 colors, some very sparingly. I guess I’d better figure Ravelry out. Best of the winter holidays to all of you up north - next podcast will be close to the solstice. No need to answer, just carry on. I know you’re busy. Xx

Simone had two balls of Felted Tweed - one for each colour. The balls she was showing for the cowl she was starting are how much she had left from one ball each that she opened to start the mitts. They don't take a lot of yarn.

I'm knitting sleeves in magic loop for a ranunculus and using big needles so pulling tightly at cord loops is not a good idea. I made little loops of yarn and ran the cords through to keep the cord from pulling on the fabric. To start a row, I just slip the yarn loop and proceed. on the fabric

Betsey take those 5 flowers and add green leaves for poinsettia and put on a chain or create a crochet chain. You could either wear it as a necklace or a headband in your hair. Quite Xmas. Also, your cable from your sweater may be the problem. I have a problem when I do Tunisian crochet. The cable memory and the yarn weight contribute to be a not fun experience. There are some needles with cables that continuously turn/ spin, I wonder if that wouldn't help you.

Hey Betsy- I just did the same pattern overconfidence thing. I did 3 repeats of a braided cable design on a sweater back but left out the spacer rows. I was so irked that I cast on the front and completed the entire piece. I am now starting the sleeve, still not ready to go back and frog the mistakes...... Speaking of detailed patterns, this one is Vogue Knitting 1988. The pieced/seamed, saddle shoulder turtleneck with tabbed braided cables is on less than one page, including a photo and cable chart. Brief.
