The fictional character Spider-Man, a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and featured in Marvel Comics publications, has currently appeared in ten live-action films since his inception, not including fan made shorts and guest appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. Spider-Man is the alter-ego of Peter Parker, a talented young freelance photographer and aspiring scientist imbued with superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive/genetically-altered spider.
The first live-action film based on Spider-Man was the unauthorized short Spider-Man by Donald F. Glut in 1969. This was followed by Spider-Man, an American made-for-television film that premiered on the CBS network in 1977. It starred Nicholas Hammond and was intended as a backdoor pilot for what became a weekly episodic TV series.
The rights to further films featuring the character were purchased in 1985, and moved through various production companies and studios before being secured by Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia Pictures) for $10 million (plus 5% of any movies' gross revenue and half the revenue from consumer products),[1] who hired Sam Raimi to direct Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) starring Tobey Maguire. The first two films were met with positive reviews from critics, while the third film received a more mixed response.
In 2010, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted. Marc Webb was hired to direct, with Andrew Garfield starring, and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was released to positive reviews. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) saw mixed reviews.
In February 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios and Sony announced a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, leading to a new iteration of Spider-Man being introduced and integrated into the MCU. The deal allows Sony to distribute and have final creative control over MCU films where Spider-Man is the main character, while Disney distributes the ones where he is not. Tom Holland portrays this younger version of Spider-Man, appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as the sequel to Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). All of Spider-Man's MCU appearances have received positive reviews thus far.
Plans for an animated Spider-Man film were officially announced by Sony in April 2015. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) combines Sony Pictures Imageworks' computer animation pipeline with traditional hand-drawn comic book techniques, inspired by the work of Miles Morales's co-creator Sara Pichelli. Completing the animation required up to 140 animators, the largest crew ever used by Sony Pictures Animation for a film. Into the Spider-Verse received universal acclaim, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and becoming the highest-rated film in the Spider-Man franchise, surpassing Spider-Man 2.
Raimi's trilogy grossed $2.5 billion worldwide on a $597 million budget, while Webb's films grossed over $1.4 billion on a $480 million budget. Spider-Man's MCU films (Homecoming and Far From Home) have grossed over $1.9 billion on a $335 million budget and Into the Spider-Verse grossed $375 million on a $90 million budget. The Spider-Man films have grossed over $6.3 billion collectively at the global box office. This includes Far From Home, which became the first film to gross over $1 billion worldwide as well as Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film ever.

15:50 the novel implies that Peter isn't sure it was EVER Eddie. That the suit killed him on bonding and just ACTED like Brock the entire time. Almost like John Carpenter's The Thing, where it acted the entire time until him and Peter were alone and would try to rebond.

I'll go one step further sand man didn't need to be in this two parter. Part 1 needed to focus on Harry as main villan with peter falling into the symbiote. Have Peter nearly kill Harry realize that's he is a monster and rip the suit off. Eddie becomes venom end credits. Part 2 Venom vs Spiderman with Harrys redemption being a sub plot.

Context is the keyword here. In the first film it's almost like a saturday morning cartoon in which how they're vaporized, and the film itself doesn't even dwell on it, it's just one of many atrocities the Green Goblin commits. In this context it'd be way more visceral, not to mention that it'd be the _main freaking character_ doing it, even if it were unintentional.

Well no. At least not the way you put it. Yes they most likely have all the footage, but it’s most likely in the form of negatives in an archive room. It would have to be scanned and restored since film degrades with time. But yeah, it’s very little effort in comparison to the pay off.

I would definitely want to see the raimi cut, if all of the footage is still there. But as of right now, Sony hasn't announced, nor addressed anything related to the raimi cut, so I kinda feel bad that all of this effort is up to nothing :"v. Besides, one possibility would be that either Sony has already deleted the footage, or the negatives of the movie is still gonna be present in the raimi cut

I don’t think Raimi would be interested. He was barely interested in doing Spider-Man 2.1. Plus I’m pretty sure a long cut of this movie already exist in Sony’s vault somewhere but it’s probably incomplete.

I watched Spider-Man 3 recently, it was the Editor's Cut, but the scene I'm about to talk about was one of the scenes that wasn't changed. If you pay attention to what Eddie says before Spidey breaks his camera for what the hell reasons, Eddie says "This is exactly what I need to scoop Parker," as Eddie was planning on using those photos as the photos of Spidey sticking his hand in "the cookie jar." So Spidey destroyed Eddie's camera to prevent that from happening.

Black Suit Spider-Man swinging in the daytime. Peter looking exhausted after taking off the Black Suit Extended Scene of Peter looking at the Black Suit in his apartment Sandcastle Scene Alternate Peter and Ursula scene Original Peter/Harry exchange before they fight over Mary Jane Peter slowly becoming addicted to the Black Suit. Harry looking at the cracked picture were all in the Editor’s Cut

There was a special edition called Spider-Man 3: Editor's Cut, released in 2017 in USA. It features two more scenes with Black Suit Spiderman, Sandman appearing as a sand castle to his daughter, the alternate beginning of Peter and Harry fight at the Osborn Mansion, plus the order of the scenes is different. After Mary Jane break up with Peter in the theatrical cut he had a lunch with Harry where Harry revealed he was the one responsible for the breakup, leading to Peter deciding to use the costume definitely, facing and defeatng Harry and finally causing Eddie Brock to be fired. What happens in the Editor's Cut is after the break up Peter is at his apartment. He looks at the box he put the black suit and walk to there. When he opens it, you can see the costume "breathing". He touches it, smiling (a scene that was in the trailer, but cut from the actual movie). Then we have walking the street, with all the women look at him, he sees the newspaper with Eddie's photo, he causes Eddie's firing and then we have the scene with him in black suit in daylight. He then get back to his apartment and put the costume back in the box and he looks very exhausted. After this we get the restaurant scene with Peter and Harry, and after Harry disappears it cut right to the Osborn Mansion. Harry is preparing his drinks and when he turns around, Peter is laying down in the same bed he put Norman's body. The dialogue at first is a little different from the theatrical cut, with Peter saying "I'm really gonna enjoy this". Then we have the fight, Peter defeats Harry and then it cuts to the dance montage.

@@dericjames2018 No, the Doctor subplot wasn't included. A lot of deleted scenes are missing in this special edtion, sadly. But still, the few scenes added improve a lot the movie. Oh, and in the Editor's Cut, the conversation with May before Mary Jane is kidnapped not included.

After reading the Novelization again. Here is Venom's original Death Scene. In the final battle, Venom reacts to the metal clanging after missing the strike to kill Peter. Venom stumbles forward and accidentally impales himself. He dropped to his knees and the suit fell off but it left him as a dead smoking deformed skeleton. The symbiote reared up and grew to a monstrous size, snagging Peter by his ankle, drawing him in closer. The symbiote using Eddie's voice to utter, "Never wound what you can't kill". The symbiote is ready to eat Peter, but Peter spots a sling with hundreds of steel rods, tilts it and the poles make noise and land on the symbiote, sizziling it

@@viciousbane569 In the original script there was supposed to be a different final battle in a different location with Kayla dying differently and her leaving a note to Logan saying "You are my Wolverine" after he gets shot in the head, and then she drowns herself in a lake, similar to what happened in the game. The Kayla actress said that the scene they shot was not included in the actual film. Only major thing I can remember being changed is the web-shooters. In an earlier cut, they weren't organic; they were built by Peter, just like the original comics.

Spider-Man 3 could’ve been a masterpiece like the first two if it weren’t for Sony and their Venom boner But still , Sam Raimi handled it like a champ and made a great movie .. His Venom may not be comic accurate but Sam made Venom/Symbiote a key part of his “Revenge and Forgiveness” story, which is brilliant . My favorite scene in the movie is when Peter finally forgives Sandman . It is such a powerful scene. A thing that bothers me a bit in the movie is Harry’s amnesia . If would’ve been better if he was scheming behind the scenes after he figured out he can’t take out Peter physically . So he manipulates MJ and Peter’s relationship . That would make Harry’s death scene much more powerful because now they both hurt each other but they chose forgiveness over revenge . Maybe if Sam Raimi split Spider-Man 3 into two movies it could’ve been more fleshed out and with a better result.

I actually like the design with the webbing and black webs ... but he should have been at least slightly bulkier than Spiderman . The Venom action figure for the movie was perfect in that matter .

Tanner Ewing I would have liked to see Spider-Man use the black suit and struggle on forgiving sandman and also losing himself to it and still have the church scene play out but no reveal what happens to Eddie until the film ends like a post credit scene and still have him fight sandman at the end with his regular suit that’s way we set up for Spider-Man 4 with venom

More detail on the Sandman and his daughter subplot More detail on the Eddie Brock subplot More detail on Harry's crumbling mental state subplot More detail on the black suit Spider-Man portion of the movie So much more detail. People would probably complain about a 3 hour run time but really if it would make the movie good then I don't see the problem with it.

A very very late theory: The serenity chimes would be used when Peter is in the office, during his montage, which would anger him or annoy him. It would help a little more later on during the bell and separation part.

The original plot Sam Riami had in mind did not involve Venom. Only Sandman and Harry were the main focus. Sony's official Avi Rad wanted to force Sam Riami to introduce Venom into the movie so that more toys and merch would sell. That's why Spiderman 3 was disappointing and Sam Riami wasn't interested in making any more spiderman films

But after Venom was included they thought about make a two part movie, but they weren't able to figure the cliffhanger for a fourth movie so we got all in the same movie. Raimi was eager to make a fourth movie actually, but the time was very tight and all the scripts that had been done were not considered good to him, so he decided to walk way and Sony went with the B plan that was the reboot.

I wish they kept the part where Emma Marko and Penny stopped sandman from killing Spider-Man. That would have been beautiful to see. There were alot of deleated scenes that I wish they kept, but the movie is still great

There was also a comic book that came with the DVD of the movie that expanded Venom's role. After Eddie gets the black suit, he would've terrorized civilians in an alleyway while it's raining, and this would suddenly trigger voices, flashes, and images of everything in the first two movies and all of Peter's friends and enemies like Green Goblin, Doc Ock and even Bone Saw. Suddenly this is interrupted with the police pulling up in front of him where he's shot at and he realizes nothing can hurt him and has enough time to get away. It's here when he hallucinates, and sees Venom's hands as Spider-Man, and even sees himself in Peter's POV when he checks himself in the mirror in the first movie and another case where's wearing the costume in his apartment, and his POV of MJ during the park scenes in SM3 before the symbiote arrived.. The symbiote is essentially helping Eddie understand that Peter is Spider-Man through Peter's mind. There was also a scene where he stalks Gwen and wanders in her bedroom. And later on, Venom talks to MJ how Peter cheated on her with Gwen, and because of that, he felt betrayed and wanted to show her the same pain. Sandman gets in the way to explain Venom's plan has nothing on Spider-Man himself but jealously on someone else (since Sandman doesn't know Peter.) And we even get a brief moment where we see Eddie inside of the suit where the suit explains Spider-Man's coming, and Eddie replies "How do you know?" and Venom responds "We can feel him..." while sticking his tongue out at MJ.

I think they could have gotten by, by giving the Symbiote a Blue/Purple Sheen. Kinda like the comics, the final versions don't even look Black. All the Black looking Suits are CGI. The Scenes where they actually use physical suits all have a dark grey colour. The only scene that doesn't is the one where Spidey smashes Eddie's Camera. I think that was an entirely different suit that was used just for that scene. I think had they gone with the all black latex, then they should have used bright white highlights. Notice the physical suit is Black and Silver. They could have gone with White Emblem, the squares on the fists. Maybe they could have made the middle of the fingers white too.

Spectacular Spider-Man did that, when he first gets the suit it looks identical to the design of Spider-Man 3. As the episodes continue, the web pattern disappears and the spider gets bigger, becoming the comic design until he removes it

I think releasing just the deleted scenes would help people understand the frustrations of trying to edit together a film. Some scenes work and others might muck up the pacing or was better left cut out of the film due to being a useless scene. Most of these scenes that were left unseen were probably the decisions of the studio and possibly the director. I didn't mind the vanilla cut and the editor's cut of Spider-Man 3, plus it sort of mirrors what happened behind the scenes of the first Spider-Man film. Hours of footage shot, 2 hours of footage used. Concepts created and kept or shelved, plot points re-edited, cutting the more adult oriented scenes (MJ flipping the bird at a car) out of the film, possibly cutting out more violent imagery, cutting out extended scenes that were a dull to the audience or were possibly cut out for timing, editing out Peter's mechanical web shooters in one short web shoot training in his room, creating new plot points to replace old ones that were scrapped and reanimating footage of Spider-Man swinging through the city. Not to mention cutting out the Twin Towers scene out of the film, of which you will see 1 frame and 1 frame only, of a helicopter in between the Twin Towers. A scene that would have made fans love Spider-Man even more if not for 9/11. We just need a supercut of the deleted scenes, whether they were completed or not. A supercut of the deleted scenes is all we need out of this.

When Peter was ripping the symbiote off, they could have actually made venom retaliate more. They could have made it more aggressive by having teeth protruding from the symbiote during the removal. It would make the symbiote look much more dangerous than it originally seemed at the start. Also, it could help the scene put viewers on the edge of their seats. Then again, I don't think the movie would be very PG after that. They could have made it even more threatening though, if they added a part where the symbiote tried to suffocate parker.

They honestly should’ve worked in the whole Dr. Wallace subplot in there and take out the amnesia subplot. Just have Harry go into hiding after the first fight and have him not hit his head, just have him get away. Also include the sandman sandcastle scene with his daughter. Then they should’ve worked in the Spider-Man landing on the taxi and Eddie taking the picture. Also Eddie talking to Gwen before peter takes her out to dinner would’ve gave him more motivation.Also add Eddie saying “I take no responsibility” in the church. Along with mj comforting Harry and the picture frame scene after peter begs him for help. I think those scenes could’ve extremely impacted the movie in the best way possible without being too much longer

Having Eddie say that he takes no responsibility in the church would have been a little too on the nose in my opinion, I think it would have been better for him to say that he doesn’t know why these bad things keep on happening to him after the Gwen scene, it would have added a little bit of subtlety to that scene along with showing us Eddie’s self-pity at that moment even though it was all his own fault

It also had alternate scenes, extended scenes, removed 2 scenes, and it switched the order of certain scenes. The Editor’s Cut was an earlier version of the movie before Sony and the producers started meddling with it.

In regards to the spider scene, it was actually a cut scene where the symbiote bonds with Peter. Before bonding with Peter the symbiote moved throughout Peter's room and encounters a spider and kills it violently.

the gag where tobey is making silly faces in front of the blue screen was actually gonna be a scene meant for peter’s nightmare during his black suit transformation. in the novelization, peter dreams about uncle ben’s death but with flint marko killing him and peter sees this and runs to uncle ben as he’s laying there and facing away from peter. peter rolls uncle ben over to see him and uncle ben’s face is almost zombified as the novel says that maggots and bugs crawl out of uncle ben’s empty eye sockets and mouth. this movie had so many disturbing scenes and visuals that it could’ve easily been considered a superhero horror film. but i can see why this scene was definitely left out since this would’ve been wayyy too disturbing and horrifying for 5 year old kids to see in the theaters lol

I love how a lot of scenes from spiderman 3 are heavily based off spiderman 90s animated series. Some scenes are ripped directly from it. Peter lying in bed as the symbiote latches onto him, peter hanging upside down in the black suit, venom appearing in peters reflection, the church bell scene, hell arguably even the dancing scene are all either inspired by or directly taken from the animated show.

According to the Editor, there's a cut of the movie that is around 2h 40m (in March 2007, Spider-Man 3 had a runtime of 2h 36m before it was changed to 2h 19m). He didn't put that version out because he feels that the movie is "better shorter".

I remember I had a toy of sandman back when Spider-man 3 came out with interchangeable hand parts: a spiky ball, a hammer, a large sand hand and a ball on a chain. As some of the deleted scenes show, there were more inclusions of Flint Marco's powers which I wished they kept in, as his first fight with Spider-man is far too short.

@@andresacosta4832 It was the same situation of Batman v Superman. It didn't bomb, but didn't get the money the studios wanted. I remember that when they were planning TASM 1, the plan was to make a new trilogy, then when they were planning a quadrilogy prior to making of the second movie, with Sinister Six and Venom to be released in between. The second didn't go the way Sony wanted and they fired Andrew Garfield, postponing The Amazing Spider-Man 3 to 2018 and in the place of The Amazing Spider-Man 3 we would've got in 2016 Sinister Six.

I think the chimes of serenity are a forshadowing of peter banging the bell to take off the symbiote and spiderman hitting the metal poles to stop venom at the end, peter even hits all of the poles at the same time like you would do with chimes

The deleted scene of Peter with the little boy is actually cool I think because while a sweet moment, it’s a subtle underscoring of his ego getting in the way of keeping his two lives separate, which is what drove the conflict with MJ (Peter using Spider-Man to try relating to her) Harry, and Sandman (He uses the black suit to overpower them for revenge).

Your point on Gwen's house was actually in the novel to an extent. Eddie went for sympathy, got denied by Gwen cause she was angry he framed Spidey, he got a bit creepily forward with her, Captain Stacy tells him to beat it and Eddie mopes off. Captain Stacy says to Gwen to be careful who she dates, which influences her to let Peter take her out as he's a good guy. Thus, the Jazz club happens. It built all character involved and its why I keep going back to the novel.

I’ve always hated how venom looked like Spider-Man’s venom suit when he fused with Eddie but I guess it does make sense because that’s all venom knows when it comes to “suiting up” thanks to peter.

I'm thinking Flint's flashback could have had him hide by the side of the crime scene or stand in the crowd and watch Peter arrive, seeing what he's done to him. However, I don't know what that shot in particular would have been, since it's blue screened.

I think the reason Peter broke Eddies camera was because he didn't really like him from the start, and he doesn't want Eddie to get the picture for the staff job
