The fictional character Spider-Man, a comic book superhero created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and featured in Marvel Comics publications, has currently appeared in ten live-action films since his inception, not including fan made shorts and guest appearances in other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films. Spider-Man is the alter-ego of Peter Parker, a talented young freelance photographer and aspiring scientist imbued with superhuman abilities after being bitten by a radioactive/genetically-altered spider.
The first live-action film based on Spider-Man was the unauthorized short Spider-Man by Donald F. Glut in 1969. This was followed by Spider-Man, an American made-for-television film that premiered on the CBS network in 1977. It starred Nicholas Hammond and was intended as a backdoor pilot for what became a weekly episodic TV series.
The rights to further films featuring the character were purchased in 1985, and moved through various production companies and studios before being secured by Sony Pictures Entertainment (Columbia Pictures) for $10 million (plus 5% of any movies' gross revenue and half the revenue from consumer products),[1] who hired Sam Raimi to direct Spider-Man (2002), Spider-Man 2 (2004), and Spider-Man 3 (2007) starring Tobey Maguire. The first two films were met with positive reviews from critics, while the third film received a more mixed response.
In 2010, Sony announced that the franchise would be rebooted. Marc Webb was hired to direct, with Andrew Garfield starring, and The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) was released to positive reviews. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014) saw mixed reviews.
In February 2015, Disney, Marvel Studios and Sony announced a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, leading to a new iteration of Spider-Man being introduced and integrated into the MCU. The deal allows Sony to distribute and have final creative control over MCU films where Spider-Man is the main character, while Disney distributes the ones where he is not. Tom Holland portrays this younger version of Spider-Man, appearing in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), as well as the sequel to Homecoming, Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). All of Spider-Man's MCU appearances have received positive reviews thus far.
Plans for an animated Spider-Man film were officially announced by Sony in April 2015. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) combines Sony Pictures Imageworks' computer animation pipeline with traditional hand-drawn comic book techniques, inspired by the work of Miles Morales's co-creator Sara Pichelli. Completing the animation required up to 140 animators, the largest crew ever used by Sony Pictures Animation for a film. Into the Spider-Verse received universal acclaim, winning the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and becoming the highest-rated film in the Spider-Man franchise, surpassing Spider-Man 2.
Raimi's trilogy grossed $2.5 billion worldwide on a $597 million budget, while Webb's films grossed over $1.4 billion on a $480 million budget. Spider-Man's MCU films (Homecoming and Far From Home) have grossed over $1.9 billion on a $335 million budget and Into the Spider-Verse grossed $375 million on a $90 million budget. The Spider-Man films have grossed over $6.3 billion collectively at the global box office. This includes Far From Home, which became the first film to gross over $1 billion worldwide as well as Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film ever.

Someone already did in 2017 after the editor's cut was released. He combined not only the theatrical and editor's cut, he also combine some part from a trailers to create the longest possible version of the film. He called it Spider-Man 3 the Hybrid cut.

@@Moviefan-yz7jsehhhhh, there's still scenes added from the theatrical cut that personally i dont really care for like the whole Ditkovitch and ursula scenes from the theatrical cut as the editors cut portrays the current situation as still scared and saddened of Peters actions which is accompanied by Ursula being much different compared to the theatrical cut

Apparently Editors Cut was the Orginal cut. But Sony forced Sam Rami to reshoot scenes. So aunt mays scene and the diktovitch scene was apart of a reshoot.

As well as the Theatrical Version of “Strawberries” scene. The version in the Editor’s Cut was the original version that was in the novelization.

nah the editors cut isnt the original version, the original cut went for 3 hours and had plenty more scenes and an entire character who was completely cut

Those 8 minutes cut out of Spider-Man 2 were mostly magic!!! The extended first fight between Spidey's and Doc Ock cranked it up a notch... When they go crashing into the office building and Ock is bashing Spidey against the walls and throws him out the window, and as Spidey is going backwards thru the window, he webs onto Ock and drags him thru the window as well... Pure Magic!!!

Man I know it was only one line but no mention of uncle Ben's best line in all 3 movies that was cut? "You knew I'd understand, but I thought I taught you the meaning of responsibility" God that line hits hard in the context of the scene it is in.

My rebuttal to the "Ock's skull" point is that, even with super strength, Spidey is probably no stranger to pulling his punches.

There's also a story to the scenes why the Ned scenes got cut. It's becuase of the mcu. They were starting to animate those scenes but saw homecoming and thought that those scenes were to fimilar. So they cut them out. A lot of these alternative cuts have a story. Most of them is it improves pacing.

I might just be biased because I’ve watched it more frequently, but I prefer the Spider-Man 2.1 cut better. I disagree with the MJ scene being redundant, I think it’s nice to see her living her life and helps flesh out her mindset more. Also, JJJ’s suit scene is gold

4:25 Don't forget. Spider-Man holds back his strength. Both in the comics and in the movies. He only uses his super-strength for people like Goblin, but that was only when he was super pissed. Otherwise, he uses his super-strength for lifting and moving heavy stuff. If he used his actual strength on Ock, he would knock his head clean off. But he wouldn't.

The reason the Aunt May scene was left out is because the Editor’s Cut was an earlier version of the movie before that scene was shot and that scene wasn’t present in the original script or the novelization.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Was missing a few scenes that would have made the movie great. Mainly the hairy Osborn scenes. - Hairy talks to Peter about his father spying on him - Hairy in a alternate scene, explains he is dying and introduces the goblin suit - Harry kills Mankin and a bunch of oscorp guards, and see's felicia and his reflection for the first time. After the transformation - peter gets revenge on Osborn after the death of Gwen

4:24 yes dock ock should most dinitely be dead here, if there wasnt some canonical explanation, but thre is, the reason spiderman doesnt murder dock ock is because he isnt trying to, spiderman has to pull his punches and he does even with supervillians with super strength, so knowing that Octavius is 1, a gpod person who he looks up to, and 2 a normal human who cant withstand much, so he knows to pull his punches
