Riddick week continues, as we explore the sin offerings found in the second film in the franchise, The Chronicles Of Riddick. It's a lot like The Chronicles of Narnia, only there are fewer resurrected lions and more cheesy lines of dialogue.
Next Tuesday: Another sins video.
Next Wednesday: Something else that will definitely not be a drunk video game video.
Next Thursday: Another sins video.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins would you like to see us recount next? Merch: teespring.com/stores/cinemasi...

One thing I noticed at around 3:40, when you mentioned releasing Riddick from the purple gravity energy thingy, it wasn't the Lord Marshall who released him. It was the Purifier, who later admits to Riddick that he is part Furyan during their encounter on Crematoria. Seeing one of his former kinsmen about to be slaughtered without a chance to fight back is probably what started his path toward warning Riddick and betraying the Lord Marshall up through the Crematoria escape when he walks out and burns away.

The cuts prob bad, it does cut to the leader, and the furyan, and it could have been kill the riddick, boss walks away, cut to the Furyan. Then to the Riddick being released. Your great SINS, but SOMETIMES. I think it was the Furyan who released Riddick from the stasis field, now if your saying WHAT furian your prob clueless as to the 2nd scene, where the blonde dude kills himself. He's the furian, and suggest if Riddick didn't go after the main leader, he would be dead, as they pronounce him dead and is not being hunted.

3:41 if you actually paid attention you'd notice that Riddick basically social engineers them into taking him to Crematoria after he was told Jack was there by Imam. Hence why one of the mercs pipes up saying "hey, how does he know where we're going before we do?" or something to that effect.

He actually made a couple mistakes with this movie, the other mistake I found is that the guy who he said was "BatMan's Dad" is the one who turned off the purple forcefield floor while Riddick was having his mind read, and he did it because he is a Furyian himself and was secretly trying to help Rissick. Later in the movie, the guy explains it and kills himself by walking into the sun on Crematoria. 3:30

@ragingjavier0075

Yeah but it was prophesized that the Lord Marshal would die by a Furyan unlike Frieza who was just scared of the Saiyans becoming too strong. Yes there is a prophecy of a legendary Super Saiyan that Frieza knows about but not destined to defeat him. Also Guku's battle never felt serious like he was going to lose unlike Riddick's battle where it was super close even with others interfering and Riddick actually killed the Lord Marshal. Trucks was the one who killed Frieza but hey good reference.

The "keep what you kill" statement at the end was actually a shock to everyone in the theater, I worked in at the time. Every dang showing people were shocked. No one was expecting him to become the leader. Every other time he got a thing, like the knife, not their position of power. And why wasn't "Riddick" the sequel to "Pitch Black" and "Chronicles" become a whole different movie series?

+Gen Zero The new one was meant to carbon copy Pitch Black. They were signalling the rebirth of the series by having Riddick return to his roots and reinventing the series as an R-rated series. It's because they are planning on having 2 sequels unless the box office bombs to the point where they can't afford to make another.

Aereon narrates the beginning of the movie because Riddick knows nothing of the Lord Marshal. They can't call 'HER' by her name because everyone knows her as Jack, which is not her actual name. They are called Furyans because they come from the Planet Furya. The Purifier (Furyan Necromonger) releases Riddick, not the Lord Marshal. Riddick finds out from Imam that Kira is on Crematoria, so he allows Tomes to take him there. Riddick was lowered down into the prison like he was supplies, because the guards weren't sure they were going to pay the bounty and keep him there. He was effectively... hanging around till then. The Purifier is Furyan (as you find out here), so his motive is the death of the Lord Marshal. Aereon is an elemental, they actually can't manipulate the elements unless they have access to them. (You see this when she 'glides' earlier in the movie, but cannot fly.)

They biggest sin of all is Kira actually thinking Riddick owes her something for apparently abandoning her when Riddick was never her guardian or lover in the last movie considering she was a kid and he was a wanted murdering criminal I'm pretty sure Riddick doesn't meet the criteria to adopt. Plus he knew her what was barely 24 hours during a crisis of flesh eating monsters, traveling to get to a ship during the entire movie in Pitch black they have not had one full conversation. And the priest seems to forget that Riddick is extremely dangerous and owes no one anything considering he could kill them and the only reason they stuck together was to get off the planet and decrease the risk of dying.

I fucking hate how today you have to play a number of videogames and read a shitpile of comic books and collect a barn full of trading cards to "get the story". Was it like that in the time before movies, too? Like in the 18th century you had to go to the theater and watch a play in order to be able to follow the plot of a book you've read? Is the Bayeux tapestry just filling the plot gaps of some medieval book or play? Stahp.

"Is the Bayeux tapestry just filling the plot gaps of some medieval book or play?" I don't know about the Bayeux tapestry in particular but considering copyright wasn't really an issue until relatively recently in human history I can guarantee you that almost everything we know of culture is referencing or profiting of something else in culture. For example, almost everything in the King Arthur mythos is technically fanfiction where different authors added their own spins on an already known and popular story. Back in the days, there was a relatively narrow pool of people who could produce or had access to written stories and art - so the content creators could be a lot more certain of what the audience knew, so there wasn't really as much of a need to explain things they referenced.

In a conversation in the beginning with his friend on Helium Prime he said that the girl was on a planet where the sun is always up or something like that. And Riddick said "Crematoria." Riddick knew where she was and made it his plan to let the mercs take him there so he could find her. Plus he needed to escape from the Necros. The guy who made the video simply didn't pay attention to the movie.

Why try to strike a deal with the person prophesied to kill you? Maybe because in these stories the prophecy is always brought about as a result of the victim trying to kill the subject of the prophecy before he gets the chance to fulfill it. I mean seriously, how many prophesies would have been bullshit if the guy that was supposed to be killed just acted as if he never heard it in the first place?

But the Ghost-story made it feel deep and ... incomplete. Like you were missing something if you have not seen the first game and stuff... And it is exactly like that. Those ghosts are his ancestors, maybe his wife or his mother... So... This is a kind of revenge-story... And he is now the king of the guys who killed his family... Well... Interesting thing. 7:20 Elementals are not intangible. As much as people like One Piece fans like to say otherwise, they are not. If Judie Dench's character was trapped in a place with no orifice in it, she can't pass. That simple.

Echo Trowers Which is why I said that she can only do that if there were orifices or holes in the room. If there aren't any, she can't get out of there. That simple. She can turn into wind, yes, but that doesn't make her intangible.
@B1ackKingStar
@B1ackKingStar 10 жыл бұрын
There could have been but my main point is if she is able to turn into wind then she should be able to slip through the prison. I'm not saying she's intangible. I'm saying that wind should be easily able to pass through prison bars. Its not like she was locked up in a windowless,air tight box.
@Apostol407

Echo Trowers Actually, she was. You can see that the room she is in doesn't even have light when its closed, meaning that it is an enclosed, tight place.

I'm talking about the cage/cell,smart a** and just because it was dark doesn't mean that the room was air tight because obviously if it was that would be a prison. It'd be a murder room.

I am too lazy to check the exact shape of the armor but it is possible that armors can cause blades or bullets to slide to sides instead of going through the body. As in many fantasies you can see people wearing some leather bracelets or something which obviously cannot stop a metal sword but if the blade comes with the right angle it is possible for armor to make a difference. Still I would rather not wear an armor that slows me down.

For the 33rd sin about him letting Riddick go. It was not the Lord Marshall who let him go it was The Purifier who is Furyan like Riddick so when Lord Marshall left the Purifier let Riddick go and because the Lord Marshall had left he didn't know it was his Purifier had released him. 3 things make this clear 1: The face of the Purifier and Lord Marshall are totally different. 2: The Lord Marshall doesn't have the metal fingertip covers he has full armor the purifier however has the metal fingertip covers. 3: the Lord Marshall walked away after ordering Riddicks death and it showed him leaving away so it wasn't him that let riddick go.

David Gee what you forget to understand is that there could be things we have not seen yet such as different atoms all together which makes different stuff with different properties than the ones we have on this planet. the thing is they have not stated it is in this universe so anything is possible at least in imagination as bo one knows what is beyond our universe . basically anything is possible in a movie and bo explanations are needed.

First Riddick out ran the sun. Then when the sun caught up with him he hid behind a rock and waited a few minutes until the sun somehow mysteriously left the area just so Riddick can say "We have to go before the sun comes back around..." wait a minute...what the hell kind of sun rises, goes away for a few minutes then comes back around? I still loved this movie. It's one of my top 5 favorites. I probably watched it 20 times.
