While making Ted's new garden we took several attachments and Peanut to get the job done. This is a great look at the YJC 52 inch tiller that we are proud to call our own.

Thanks for the great video, especially the comments regarding chain vs. gear drives, etc. I am new to country living and have created a 22’ X 58’ garden for our retirement home here in east TN. We ran a turning plow over it late last fall, filled by a multipurpose cultivator, 7 yds of mushroom compost and fertilizer and made 4 passes with a disk just before a great farmers’ rain three days ago. I plan on tilling ear;y next week, but I want to prepare a great seed/plant bed complete with furrows. Which implement do I need for this ?? Thanks again for all your videos!

Ted, that tiller did a better job on 1 pass than that disc did in 3 passes. Or at least that's what it looks like from the video. When the time comes I'm going with the tiller.

If you till again right after you got done tilling you should till it going across it at 90 degrees from the first time. Granted you wouldn't want to do this if it's only 1 or 2 rows wide.

Great tiller. I like my reverse tiller better though. Gives more depth and it looks like it chops it better.
@EverythingAttachments
@EverythingAttachments 4 жыл бұрын
We offer a few reverse drive models, but they're not nearly as popular as the forwards. Reverse driven ones drain more tractor hp. Also, the depth is hard to gauge and tines throw material back toward the tractor, rather than away. To add, forward tillers are generally heavier, or at least have heavier options, with a better value for your dollar. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@roflstomps324
@roflstomps324 4 жыл бұрын
@@EverythingAttachments mine is real good. Though, I would imagine the features it has make it cost a lot more. Mine doesn't throw anything at the tractor. There thick, heavy piece of material that looks like a super thick mud flap off a semi that stops anything from hitting the tractor. I don't really find it hard to gauge the depth. What I find is that I have to have the back door wide open because of the heavy flap not letting the soil drop. And, yeah, it drains way more hp.

The first year of tilling up sod, it's best to let it lay fallow a year so the sod can rot away. Decomposition really heats up the soil and can kill some seeds.Till it again in mid and late summer to keep weeds and weed seeds down.

in some instances clay can be very hard to grow in, but in others it is the best, for example if you dig a bigger hole than needed for your seed and put in soil, it works great because clay holds an enormous amount of micro nutrients that your plants love.

+Z71Ranger We could've chewed it up more by lowering the tailgate and reducing ground speed, but we did not want the soil pulverized into a powder, which would turn the clay into concrete when it rains. The garden plot had been plowed less than a week before tilling. Ideally, you should give the vegetation enough time to decompose before running a harrow or tiller over it.
