The new Rage 210mm sliding mitre saw from Evolution Power Tools. Exclusive to Screwfix, and at £99.99, is it any good?

I just brought myself one and it’s as good as you say it is. My plastic extension pieces were level so maybe Evolution changed there moulding. Great review, many thanks.

@@mitchwoodwork thanks for the reply, out of interest, did you experience any blade wobble at all when using it? I watched a review where he did, but then again he tried to cut angle steel the same as would would cut wood so I suspect he knacked it when it kicked back

@@phobos7176 can't say that I have. It doesn't pay to be heavy handed, or overly challenge machines. Staying within manufacturer's capacity specs should help maintain performance.

Good review Mitch!, Only one thing, is the slider solid enough to cut dados? (and does it have some kind of plunge depth stop mechanism?)

Poe Yes it will. I did show the depth stop briefly. Of course sufficient downward force could affect the depth.

I bought one of these, it is a great product. My only gripe is there is no dust bag included. OK, you can buy it seperately, but thats a bind, who bothers. What would it have cost to include one in the box?

Even with extraction attached it spills sawdust, so I'm not sure how great a bag would work. I think a decent broom would be a better investment ;-)

Bog standard ear defenders were fine. It is like all other universal motor machines though, rather noisy!

How does it perform when continuously switching from steel to wood? If you had cut the steel first would it still have cut the wood cleanly?

I'm very impressed actually. Of course cutting steel dulls the teeth quicker than wood, so the blade's performance drops off quicker when you're doing that. I found that using the saw as recommended, the blade damage was restricted to just gradual dulling, no lost or broken teeth, and so no sudden surprises when moving from metal to wood.

Any ideas why I cant raise or lower the head of the saw. Please reply

There is a sliding bolt towards the right rear, which locks the head down for transport, safety, etc. I would guess that is engaged, and you just need to pull it out about ½"
