Maybe, but The shape does changes how the weight is distributed. Instead of being heavy on just two ends, this “dumbbell” keeps the weight more localized/evenly distributed. That translates to more stability and reduces (notice I didn’t say cancels out) how much your stabilizers have to help with the movement, Which in turn, creates more tension in the targeted muscle group.

That's a fantastic idea. Dumbells shift and have an awkward momentum shift sometimes, no matter how good your grip is - this would eliminate a lot of that, and also provide more tension throughout workouts like dumbell flies. Although, this will be considered more of a luxury than a necessity, so I'll probably never get to use these unless I travel somewhere with a gym like that

@@jcl9034well, yes and no. 20kgs will always be 20kgs as long as its subject to earths gravity (fact) (Physics) Resistence curve is the force experienced by the muscles based on where the weight is in relation to the lever arm. Still the weight will remain as 20kgs. Regardless of shape or method of moving it, it will still be 20kgs.

Imagine hitting heavy and you maybe pass out or you black out for a second or you lose your grip. Those dumbbells can breat your wrist whereas a normal dumbbell would just fall down. Guys there's a reason thinks are the way they were for thousands of years without little to no upgrade. Sometimes old is gold

The odds of what you're describing happening are ridiculously small. The design of these is FAR MORE safer than a regular dumbbell, as it limits the Moment of Inertia through the movement and reduces the chance of wrist injury dramatically, especially when managing heavier weight.

If you train heavy you're likely to black out for a sec and the design of normal dumbbell make it easier to drop them and these dumbbells are almost always going to break a wrist in that situation. There is also almost no extra advantage of using these dumbbells over normal dumbbells
