It baffles me how some people can act so smart, yet overlook the ONE thing that you CANNOT overlook. You flipping the squiddy, or whatever the hell that thing is, was perfectly fine. The lady who stopped you outside the building was wrong, because they had no evidence to support their claim. And the whole 'threatening' thing could only hold up for so long - here; say you're "Threatening" people by flipping your knife, nobody cares. You might be threatening them, but its not threatening if they don't react accordingly. Same thing with if someone feels threatened, if you don't do anything threatening or aggressive, their entire argument for you threatening them is invalidated... brother ik when you're younger, it's alot harder to stand up to authority because you're probably not familiar with the actual "rules" of adult society and your "rights" and such, but let's just say that if you were an adult, and you had physical proof to back up some of the things you're saying here, I'd say to you that this is the easiest lawsuit of all time, because some of this stuff is a clear violation of your rights, and is just ridiculous, but obviously when you're younger, schools treat kids differently, have different rules, and generally do act like you don't have rights and that they can control your life, at least that's how it was for me in HS lol, but then as an adult, i realized that school was more like a prison with it's level of rules and restrictions compared to general society and that there was suddenly a big difference and that they had been violating most of the kids rights the whole time in many different ways. So basically, I'd advise you or your parents to lawyer up if this kind of harassment continues being an issue, because they legally cannot take your property from you if it's not a banned weapon, they can't stop you and search you without probable cause and police present, they can't stop you from leaving without probable cause and police to detain you, etc. And I can't believe they'd be making this big of a deal about a trainer toy, it's not a real knife and you're clearly using it just for practicing tricks and not as a weapon, and it's only purpose is to act as a stand in for a knife that exists almost exclusively for tricks and not as a weapon so the seems like a clear abuse of power to me. They seemingly don't want you to have it, just because they don't like it and don't want anyone going outside their "rules" of what they've deemed appropriate? Which seems oppressive just to be oppressive and i can definitely understand that since something similar happened to me when i was in HS (playing online chess tournaments on their computers, never in class tho always during free time, still almost got expelled lol). Principles in particular nowadays seem to view themselves as some sort of grand moral authority over all children, and don't like kids doing anything or learning any skills outside their approved list of activities, it's very weird.

I've played this out in my head many times, like if i was in the office and the principle was giving me the talk about how i couldn't flip the squiddy in school and i was getting expelled. I came to the conclusion that if he told me that i was getting expelled, i would just say, "Well then i don't think this school is the best fit for me in the first place. Thank you for your time, and have a nice life." And then i would walk out of his office and drive home.

Schools should consider that many everyday items: pencils, pens, scissors, etc. can be just as or more dangerous than balisongs or even trainers. If they have a problem with students carrying trainers in school, ban all handheld school supplies along with them. My point is, yes you can do damage with a balisong/trainer, but who says you can't do damage by stabbing someone with a pencil for example. In fact, that's probably worse lmao

I once brought an actual live blade balisong to a private school in like 6th grade. Straight up wrong to bring a weapon but as a child I didn't believe in trainers and so I brought it to school. I knew it wouldn't end well if I actually flipped it so I just showed it off to some friends but word ended up spreading and I was sent to the principles. Surprisingly chill principle, I think she could see I wasn't malicious. I'm pretty sure I was kept in the principals room for multiple weeks, having school work sent down and stuff, but on the very day of I just had to wait until my dad showed up and he talked to the principle. Knife was confiscated from me, but my dad gave it back after school was over. It's crazy how you still caught shit even though you brough a dull knife, quite literally a toy at that point. You could do more damage throwing a book than you could would a stabbing motion using said trainer.

I once got caught by my somewhat annoying English teacher (where I have full marks btw) and she just took it from me and told my parents about it. she said I could have hit and/or hurt someone, since it's was a metal trainer, even if it was blunt. I didn't get grounded, expelled or even a detention, but I still don't get why she had a problem with it, since ALL other teachers didn't care. my parents and myself made sure I never bring it to school again because I don't want to get expelled from high school (high school starts at 15 years old in Serbia)

I came to something like this without getting expelled but the principal got mad about my squiddy and told the teachers to tell the people with them to put them away or if we dont to take them away, I had a teacher come to a DIFFERENT TEACHERS ROOM to take the squiddy away. This was close to the end of the school so I got it taken away for around 2 weeks until my mom went to the principal and ripped his shit. The teacher that took my squiddy without warning in another teachers class left the next year and I do not miss her at all.

If you're an A student and flipping outside the buildings not sure why they would care. Same a juggling, not cool in class or anywhere that might be disruptive, but outside, why not. I think getting through school, getting an education, college or a trade school so you can get a good job or start your own business should be a priority over flipping. Balisongs are awesomely fun, but probably no going to make a lot of money flipping. No matter how good you are or will get.

Some Teachers just dont want students to have fun because it's a "Learning Area" yet they also be hypocrites and do what they dont allow.

Getting expelled for something as tame as a squiddy makes me scared about my nautilus. I've met some of the teachers at the school i'm about to start at and they seem cool to be honest. Given the fact that a good few students seem like they would vape or smoke on school grounds I can't imagine they would give the first airborne ass chunk about a kid flipping a balisong. But gawd damn schools just seem so pathetic about it. Bro I almost got expelled/suspended because a kid that was in my engineering class had a nerf gun and know one knew but I asked my teacher if i could go see the 3d printers because it’s engineering class and the kid with the nurf gun came along Along with some other students but in the middle of the hallway this dumb ass pulls out the gun and shoots somebody and the person they shot at snitched and we all got in trouble And taken to the office and we got lectured for a solid 25 minutes I almost missed my buss but at least I was a freshman so I got of Scott free.
