Dr. Vernard Adams is a forensic pathologist called by the defense in the trial of Curtis Reeves, the notorious Tampa popcorn shooter. Curtis Reeves was found not guilty by jury on Friday, Feb 25th, 2022.
The prosecution, on cross, tried to first get Dr. Adams to agree to something impossible, and then tried to impeach him with prior testimony. What happens next is glorious.

This lawyer reminded me of the joke about the doctor with the brain on his desk. The lawyer asks if it's possible that the person(missing their brain) is still alive, and the doctor responds, "it's possible they could be practicing law."

I believe yo refer to: Q: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning? A: Did you actually pass the bar exam? Q: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people? A: All my autopsies are performed on dead people. Q: OK. Do you recall the time that you examined the body? A: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m. Q: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time? A: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy. Q: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse? A: No. Q: Did you check for blood pressure? A: No. Q: Did you check for breathing? A: No. Q: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy? A: No. Q: How can you be so sure, Doctor? A: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar. Q: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless? A: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

@Quandry1
@Quandry1 2 жыл бұрын
both would likely trigger him horribly. But for different reasons. But it was all a last ditch effort to portray the expert as a paid shill after he couldn't get the expert to make all the facts line up the way that he wanted. While there are paid shill's. They would have answered the questions differently.

I didn't watch much of this trial live, because I honestly wasn't really invested in it at all, and not even Rackets and Branca's entertainment value could make me wake up 3 hours earlier than normal. Watching through this though, good lord I'm extra glad I didn't. That prosecutor should never be anywhere *near* a courtroom in front of a jury. His lack of a chin is off putting, his speech impediment is annoying to listen to, his speech patterns are also annoying. This man doesn't lack charisma, he has anti-charisma. I legit don't know how this man could win a case, just based on how terrible he is to listen to, jurors must tune him out when ever he talks. And this is all before the man's complete inability to make an argument with the facts he has. The only way this man must win cases is if he has rock solid fact patterns. Even then I imagine if he had the Cannibro case, he'd probably get Chandler convicted with 4 years probation and nothing else.
