Episode 39 - Hello friends! With all the ski resorts closed, I figured it would be a good idea to check out Big Cottonwood Canyon right outside Salt Lake City, Utah! I have skied up here quite a bit and have even been up here during the summer, but never explored these places in early April. I figured it could be a mixed bag of what the weather conditions would be and boy was I exactly right.
When I pulled up there Saturday afternoon, the weather was absolutely beautiful. Probably 50-60 degrees and there were people everywhere - from hikers, to climbers, bikers, backcountry skiers etc the canyon was packed! I caught the sunset up at the top of the canyon at Brighton resort and then slept back down at the base because it was much warmer.
When I woke up the next morning, I had hopes of checking out the sunrise but that was quickly squashed as it was dumping snow as soon as I made my way into the canyon. I made the best of it though and shot the beautiful snowfall and enjoyed a cup of coffee with the solitude and serenity that the early morning of being in the mountains brings.
