This is a great conversation! I love when he talks about cable tv and how ya had to wait until thursday at 7 pm to watch your program. I remember that! Do you think he'd be willing to talk about what it's like to represent someone who is guilty, but having to defend them anyway?

Hello, I am that guy and thanks for watching! I get asked that question a lot to that I always say the goal is make sure my client's rights are being respected and that they receive a sentence that is fair in respect to whatever they may have done. As a defense attorney, from my perspective, guilt or innocence is beside the point. For me it is about trying figure out how to best protect my client, their rights and to preserve whatever life they might have after the case.

Okay… I know a dozen lawyers personally and I’ve spoken to a dozen more. Ian… you’re a kool Guy and I love your channel but… this guy comes off as fugazee on some issues. Yet, the comparison between a Prisoner and a Soldier being sent away to fight a war …was 💯

In Florida I've never heard the word dedicated & Public Defender used in the same sentence. Well at least not in the area of South Florida or The Treasure Coast I have heard in other states it is totally different & REALLY wish it was different in the counties in Florida that I or friends have experienced.

It's crazy that you can commit murder and if you're rich enough you can be out the next day and fight your case from the outside. I never understood bond.

The perception of public defenders being terrible and not doing their jobs comes from a lot of personal experiences and shared stories, not necessarily media or news. I’ve had the experiences myself where a public defender was absolutely useless and I’ve had experiences where they were great but there was definitely more useless public defenders than good ones in my experience and many others I know.
