@@MD-uu5nt Can't agree more. Sure, nostalgia is always a factor, but i'm getting tired of people claiming it is nostalgia whenever you think it used to be better. Modern motorsport is boring, cars are dull without character and thus the racing loses it's intensity. There is a reason motorsport is becoming less popular, if I grew up in the 60s I would be a diehard motorsport fan, these days I couldn't care less.

Marvellous clip of a true racer ! The fact that Jean Alesi won only one grand prix in his career is no reflection on his talent as a driver, but it was his curse to come into F1, when the plum drives were stitched up by Prost, Senna, Mansell and, Schumacher, leaving him to drive for Tyrrell, when the Cosworth V8 had long ceased it's F1 dominance, Ferrari, with their heavy, thirsty V12's and Benetton, after Schumacher had taken a number of their key personnel with him to Ferrari. He was always wonderful to watch, with his never-say-die attitude, even when he knew the car he drove was rubbish. Respect, Jean... Nick Procter

I mean despite cars being much faster today than they were in 1995, that NOISE and the fact that cars were smaller/more agile made them seem faster.....atleast thats the impresssion I still get when I look footage from 90s or even late 80s and compare it to footage of modern F1 car onboard vids. You just dont get the same sense of speed from modern onboard vids let alone from playing F1 games. I mean heck, just watching this onboard vid makes it looks SO fun to drive these cars around Silverstone, that I wish I could do that myself, just for the sheer fun/pleasure of it :D

A lot of it was his own fault. He actually signed a contract with Williams for 1991 just as they were starting their period of dominating F1 with Newey designed chassis and Renault engines both of which were the must haves to win anything, but decided at the last minute to go with his emotions and sign for Ferrari who were about to really hot the bottom of the barrel of a slump that had been running from the early 80's.

I was there in 1995. Jean was awesome all weekend. Driving to the limits and beyond. He was able to make that beautiful Ferrari - the last of the V12 monsters - dance on it's tip-toes. Every time I heard Lewis Hamilton whine about his launch control/poor starts/clutch issues at the beginning of the '16 season (that are 'the team's' fault), I think of Jean - using pure skill and natural 'feel' to make perfect launches off the line. A hero behind the wheel who's stats doesn't do justice to his amazing natural talent.

Bah... Schumacher unbelievably stated that the 1995 Ferrari was better than his 1995 Benetton! John Bernard explained this in detail when interviewed. Fair to say, he was disgusted how much of a travesty it was that Schumacher didn't drive for them one year sooner.

Well its worth noting that this particular year of F1 was very unusual because its immediately after Senna dies and all these cars had to be quickly designed to cope with radical new rules based on a response to the deaths of the previous year. As such they're very stiff and very sketchy compared to basically every year on either side of this one. This year is an aberration, not a rule. In many respects the modern turbo cars are as hard to drive as they have quite a bit of torque compared to other years with minimal assist, particularly before the major addition of downforce in recent regs.
@ChefofWar33
@ChefofWar33 4 жыл бұрын
@@BollocksUtwat It doesnt matter how much torque the current spec has. They still have engine mapping that limits power based on current speed and throttle input. They basically have "traction control" in a generic sense of the word. They also have power steering, electronic lsd's, and heaps and heaps of downforce. These cars are basically on rails.

V12 sound ❤❤❤
@jackcolson4745
@jackcolson4745 3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: the v6 sound is the same as the v12 sound, only it's missing the top octave of the v12. Or in simple terms, the low note that harmonizes with the high note in the v6 is 1 octave lower than the v12's top note and is missing that note. So the only difference between a v6 and a v12 in the sound department is the top octave note, the v6 is missing it. More intriguing info: A v6 is a fifth A v8 is an octave A v10 is a third A v12 is a fifth with a top octave meaning the v12 is basically a triplet due to the amount of cylinders.

This is a great video experience for many reasons, but one of them is because it shows you how lonely the cockpit is. This is the first lap of a GP - ink about all of the commotion you might see and hear on TV and yet this footage shows Alesi as if he's out for a Sunday drive. Oh and there's that Williams in the way too ;) But I think it really highlights that as soon as the race starts, it's total focus on your piece of track and not many fans get to understand that perspective. What a sound! Proper F1 right there. Although I really hated this version of Silverstone... most of the old fast curves gone in the interest of safety.

I was at this race, right by the start-finish line. Just saw a red streak right down by the pit wall, then the cars disappeared into Copse. We did not know the running order until they came around again, heard the roar of the crowd coming from Luffiield corner for home boy Hill in the lead and then an even bigger roar for Alesi in second, as he was holding Schumacher back in third. He held Schumi there until the first round of pit stops, allowing Hill to build up a decent lead.

Cool start and leave. The clutch snatching the engine right down,,almost to stall. Plenty of time to grab a tear-off near the end of the straight,,,after high gear. Mean Jean giving us a hard look in that left rear shiny bit at every high g corner. Wish he was still racing.

He was one of the best of his era, make no mistake. Unfortunately he went with his heart and drove for Ferrari instead of using his head and taking the Williams-Renault seat that was offered to him. He would've driven the cars Prost, and Mansell and Hill got and not saddled with the poor reliability and political infighting that held Ferrari back.

This 95 Ferrari was fast. A little too heavy, drinking too much gasoline, but very fast and Alesi was often on top. On the fastests tracks they were really quick. But this 412t2 brokes too many parts, too many times during the season. I'm french, i used to love Ferrari, i was 13 in 95... So Alesi gives me a lot. I think i did not sleep after his only victory. for sure he deserves more, but i'm still fan of his style.

TheKestevon I like Damon he is a chill guy that proved his worth but seeing him trail so much to Senna in the same car questions his abilities and what would have been of his career if he didn't get the fastest car of the season as a gift so he can win the WDC. Even Berger was a much better match to Senna in the same car only he was too hot headed and definitely not experienced or mentally prepared to push himself to go and win it. I mean he only started racing competitively at the age of 21 and by the age of 25 he was already in f1. Imagine what he would have done then if he started racing as a kid in karts with a push from his parents like Senna did. World champion for sure. When it comes to Alesi he made a stupid decision joining Ferrari instead of Williams. His best drives of f1 were in his first season of f1 driving for Tyrell. The performance and talent he showed that season in a under powered car would make even Senna envy.
