We used to come across this in karting all the time kid couldn’t drive for crap but DAD had heaps of money and could afford to buy him a new go-kart jazzy new tyres new engines at every race meeting. In some cases daddy would even buy the sport effectively controllingthe supply of engines and tires to everybody manipulating the series to look after junior and his best mate. Well those of us who actually had some talent but just didn’t have the money could drive them on a good day but just couldn’t afford to keep buying the parts and tyres and things.

Although I'm not a Stroll fan, I do credit him with having talent, as is evidenced by his success in the lower formulas. But, having been born with a silver spoon in his mouth & never having to work really hard for anything in his life, he does not have the same hunger or motivation to win or succeed that most other drivers do. They had to fight their way through the lower formulas & have to consistently prove their value to retain their seats. Stroll does have moments of brilliance, but mostly, he's not invested in giving his best & even with the alleged feedback, he is not an asset to the team.

Lance was a talented F3 racer. But, so was Christian Horner. In his day, so was EJ. Lance should use Daddy's cash to matbe become a manager. It would save Lawrence a lot in repair bills. Also, Lance got pole but finished out of the points, or at least very low.

I don't know, not a fan of him, but Stroll can definitely drive an F1 better than I could. I don't get why there's a constant refusal to recognise that motorsport has always been a game where bigger wallets gets and keep you in. I don't think we'd be having this conversation if Stroll's connection to the team wasn't as public and his dad was funding his career quietly in the background or he managed to secure lucrative sponsorship deals himself, but was racing as he is now. We'd all recognise this current ability, but we'd meme him and move on. Hypothetically, even though Sainz Jr is a whole different level to Stroll, if we found he only got the Audi seat due to Sainz Sr's connections at Audi post Dakar campaigns. Would we care?
