Joe was spot-on right about other teams not having a spare as well. Aston Martin didn't have any, as they were running it. Strolls chassis was back in the factory for a rebuild after his Jeddah crash, so they had no third chassis available as well.

Flag waving went into the 00s. Last person to wave the flag on the track I’m going to guess was the 2002 Italian Grand Prix which was a bit tight with a Ferrari formation finish. I remember Alan Jones was standing on the road to wave the 2001 Australian Grand Prix flag.

The accuser's best friend has no bearing on Horner's guilt or innocence. What a bizarre assertion.

I don't think people listen well. If they did, no one would conclude that Horner being favored with the Thai family means Max leaves because if you pay attention Max has repeatedly said he is happy at RedBull, he wants to be a one team guy, and infact doesn't want to break up the band. He says their success works with everyone on board. So why would he want the guy who put the team together gone? Plus why would he leave a championship team for a struggling Merc over an internal issue between two adults? It doesn't make sense and I suspect it's not that serious to him. He likes winning and the culture and environment that Horner built at RB...so why would he leave what's working and purpose built for his success? As for this insatiable appetite to be in the know of a matter that is by nature private and expect them to come and give comments to the public. You'd think we'd read the room,...we are not important to the conversation and we need to learn to mind our business.

For a start, Max can say whatever he wants, but it's not his choice he doesn't hold the power of his driver contract, and that's down to Max Father. If Max Father doesn't want Max to Driver for Horner, then he can not. You are missing some very powerful people around Max and within redbull who have control over Max. Max is nothing more than a driver who can be replaced at any time.

Its always so interesting when you podcast with Joe.. for three quarters of the time he makes me feel like I know nothing about F1 and many of my opinions and understanding of things are just so blatently wrong and I'm an ignoramous.. but then once every 10 minutes he says something that is so left field and unlike anything else that anyone in F1 media says.. it makes me think that he's my crazy grandfather who occasionally says something so out there that it sets off my "definately take that sentance with a grain of salt" feeling, but I dont know what to think because he is on another knowledge plane than me. I love your podcasts with him!!

Uncle Joe (and Windsor), what would F1 youtube do without you ?

I find it hard to believe that they will put Antonelli in this season. Why not give him the maximum amount of experience and then put him in the Mercedes? Also, Sargeant is a Williams junior, not some Mercedes prospect that Mercedes needs to have a place for. In the F2 he'll get experience with fast cars experience with some of the tracks, etc. etc. As briljant as some youngsters are, why risk the car for some rookie? Unless Merc can give Williams HUGE benefits, they aren't going to do this for Mercedes.
@Dragonpuncher1233 ай бұрын
It's not gonna happen. Joe said the same about Piastri taking over Latifi's seat mid season back in 2022. I'm sure there is someone in the paddock talking about it, but Williams have no incentive to do it. If Antonelli gets into F1 it'll be from the start of the 2025 season at the earliest.
@luckyspurs3 ай бұрын
It's weird, a lot of the defence of Antonelli in the mid week 'pick your 20 drivers for next season" Missed Apex show was about how he'd skipped 2 formulas into F2, so you couldn't judge anything he did negatively. Doesn't that suggest it's too soon for him to be in F1 next season.
@chriscollins5503 ай бұрын
Yes, Sargent is a William's youngsters, but he is under Toto driver management company.
@teamredgutz3993 ай бұрын
Antonelli so far is not having a brilliant year in F2. He skipped F3 and I think he needs more time learning high power cars

I love people talking about Stroll as a pay driver while ignoring that almost every driver with over 5 years in the sport is a defacto pay driver due to the relationships they’ve formed with sponsors. We’ll start small with Sergio Perez. Perez brings with him around $25m of Mexican sponsorship dollars. For tax reasons the sponsors pay the team so they can claim an advertising deduction for their business and the team pays Perez $12m and pockets the rest. Hamilton is also a pay driver, he brings over £100m in sponsorship but takes a much larger share in salary. Alonso likewise over $40m from the Oakley / Luxottica deal. Stroll is paid by a consortium run by a family member rather than independent sponsors is all. Hamilton also just happens to be a much better pay driver. It’s the main reason drivers like Ricciardo & Perez are still around and may still be next year despite their best years being behind them. Competent drivers with good feedback who you get paid to let drive and rarely crash the cars vs a rookie who you have to pay to be in the seat who has at best 20-30 hours of testing experience in the car.
