Everyone is 'that Guy/Gal' when they first start racing and IMO no matter how many suggestions you get it'll take a couple of runs before any suggestions will even sink in (98+% of what anyone tells you will fly out the window when your getting ready to make your first run(s)). I suggest watching from the starting line and pay attention to how the good races do their burnouts and staging routine...

All you need is a factory cut key and it won't fall out... take your keys to your local locksmith and support your local community and spend 10 bucks and have them cut you a factory cut key... if you can pull your key out of the ignition while it is on this is HIGHLY recommended!

He had a key lanyard that got caught on something and pulled the key out of the ignition which locked the wheel. Luckily he was able to stop the car in the middle of the road, get the keys loose, and get them back in the ignition

@@thomasward4505 Please find me an example. I've seen racecars wreck at 200mph, never seen or heard of an accident with the steering column. If you are strapped in your harness like you should be, its irrelevant. If it was a problem, they would be collapsible obviously...
@NBSV1
@NBSV1 2 жыл бұрын
Some of the race columns still have a collapsible section. But, if the car has a full cage and the column is properly mounted they tend to not move much. The factory ones need to be collapsible because the car is designed to crush a lot so the column can move much farther if it didn’t collapse.

rag joints haven't been around since the 80's and an aftermarket column alone isn't going to fix that. You can replace the steering shaft under the hood to solve that. I can see weight savings and the looks factor, but safety? Hard sell. Sure, love cleetus and James, but let's pump the brakes here on buying the coolaid
