God, The Halloween Tree tortured me my entire life. I could always vividly remember random sequences from it(mainly the one where they eat sugar skulls) but never enough that a google search would bring up anything cause really all I could type in was "animated halloween movie with skeletons?" It KILLED ME, until I actually googled a list of like top 100 animated halloween specials and watched ALL OFF THEM till I found the movie. It was one of the greatest moments of my life. I felt so fucking validated that the movie WAS REAL and I didn't just randomly make up the memory
@MWolfL7 жыл бұрын
The Halloween Tree is one of my all-time favorite Halloween specials, and is required viewing every year. And I never get enough of that music, it's just gives me the chills in a good way! Also my theory is that Moundshroud is basically the Halloween Grim Reaper: the real Grim Reaper's brother who takes over collecting the dead every Halloween. Hence why he blew out his own pumpkin's light and disappeared at the end of the movie, Moundshroud is only allowed to be amongst the living during Halloween.

The Scarecrow is actually based on a 1852 short story called "Feathertop" by a guy named Nathaniel Hawthorne. There's a TV movie version starring Gene Wilder (which is only on VHS) that's much, MUCH better.

I loved The Midnight Hour! The soundtrack was awesome! Also, Dick Van Patten as a zombie dentist...that movie had everything! I watched it with my kids last Halloween, 3 girls between the ages of 10-18. They thought it was lame, but later they were borrowing it to show to their friends. What can I say? They inherited my love of cheesy movies! Thanks for the videos; gave me some ideas for this year!

My love of the Bradbury started with Something Wicked This Way Comes. I found it in an Indiana bookshop when I was fifteen. I'll never forget chapter 39. But looking back, my first time with Bradbury was the Halloween Tree. They showed it in school on an old worn out tape when the Northwest decided we needed more rain. I had forgotten about it until now when all those memories came flooding back. Thank you for that, and I can't wait to track it down and revisit lost childhood memories.

-I loved the Halloween Tree. I remember seeing it and then bugging my mom to take me to the library so I can learn more about what other things people did to celebrate Halloween. -The Bear Scare looks good, but the animation of the bear's movements.... ah it hurts. - The midnight hour starts out on a kid bleeding at the corner of Elm Street.... We need a Freddy clip. And oh good lord in candy corn, I remember that dance scene. It is still the creepiest thing I have ever scene.

That year is when Cartoon Network reached it's horrific low with nothing but terrible live action shows. Welp, can't wait for Steven Universe to come out in 2 weeks. :3

Oh geez, I knew number The New Adventures of Ichabod Crane was going to be on this list. Only heard about that one last year--looked it up and watched pieces of it--very weird, but yeah, the concept of Ichabod protecting the town as the Headless Horseman is awesome. Also, "The Scarecrow" is very vaguely based off a short story by Nathaniel Hawthorne called "Feathertop" which actually has a rather sad ending to it, as the scarecrow was brought to life by a witch and given a human appearance. However, when the scarecrow discovers through a mirror his true reflection and terrifying the girl who once loved him, he smashes the pipe he must keep smoking in order to stay alive and becomes lifeless once more. I tried to watch this animated rendition online, but the quality was pretty bad--and the concept was just plain ridiculous. Your description of the Duke as a cross between Liberace and Gaston is spot on--I keep calling him "Gayston."
