As hard as you and the hubs work, I’m glad you got a new fridge. I went from a 13 cubic foot apartment fridge to a 21 cf French door fridge and it has changed my life. I get the warm fuzzies just hearing the ice cubes fall into the bin. Alas, I had to use my own “doll hairs” because I’m not a You Tube superstar, like you...

3DogMom I know that so many people don’t think youtube is work. I get it. It doesn’t seem that way when you don’t see everything that goes into it. When you’ve built a channel and spent years and countless hours, you have a platform and companies compensate you for exposure on it. It’s no secret that youtubers get money and compensation for brand placement in their videos. Personally I have been donating a portion of my ad revenue every month to a different charity. I know Christine donates to charities as well. This is compensation for a job done, pure and simple. We have to count this as income and pay taxes on it. It’s not like everything is free and clear here.

@@Jen-Chapin I get it, but videoing yourself grocery shopping and cooking family meals you'd do anyway is not exactly groundbreaking content. I guess more of the issue i have is pretending to be struggling or frugal when you are middle class and already have a lot of family wealth, and then taking huge freebes like fridges on top of that, when the reason people watch your channel is they are poor and struggling and maybe looking for tips. But all I see is spending and advertizing for things that are out of my reach. And in my head that just doesn't feel right. Its like rubbing it in us poor peoples faces. it hurts. Maybe something to think on in your heart (Christine too).
@kasa9884
@kasa9884 3 жыл бұрын
@@thethrivingmom1745 I was typing & deleting a response, and in the interim, Jen responded. Middle class doesn't mean wealthy at all, and neither of these women come from wealth. They're self-made and they're in their late 30s. I'm in my mid-30s & still a broke graduate student. I actually learn a lot of tips from both women. Some things I can't do yet (like subscription services), others I can keep an eye out for. I'm not envious of others in a different life circumstance than mine. It's inappropriate to scold them for a surprise gift. It's like telling someone who won groceries for a year in a contest that there's starving children. They're not lying. You don't know their full financial situation, but Christine has made it quite clear they DO budget and financially plan EVERYTHING. They built their current financial situation on their own & they struggled. Jen has touched on her self-made background as well. We can promote giving and charity without comparing lower class to middle class. These women have VERY modest KZfaq channels in the scheme of the YT community. If they had millions of subscribers, views, and tons of ads, then I'd understand the upsettedness, but this was not it.

I saw this on "Do it on a dime" want a fridge that's easy to keep clean? go to dollar tree and buy a few packs of clear chopping mats, line your fridge shelves and when you clean just remove and run through the dishwasher. I always keep a stash of dollar tree emergency candles "6 for a dollar" candle holders and matches it's a great buy plus bonus of being a character in an old black and white horror movie.

After I watched Jen's video with the Hisense and saw how on sale it was at Lowes, we bought one. We'd been saving up for a new fridge because I loathe side-by-sides (what my bf had before I moved in). He never saw anything wrong with the side-by-side but now that we have the french door he cannot get over how we can see everything in the the fridge. I love it. And it's magnetic one the front!

Idk if you’ve ever touched on this or not, but I’m interested in how you are with your kids and snacks? You seem so chill, do you put a limit on how many yogurts or snack foods they get or are they pretty good about eating their meals, that they don’t want to just do snacks all day? Your kids seem like they are just sweet, wholesome, great kids.

When I was a kid there were absolutely no restrictions on food growing up and it was just fine. We could eat any snacks at any time, have however many helpings of dinner, whatever. Even stuff like Halloween candy was unrestricted. The only limit was that we'd have to wait until the next week if something ran out, which didn't happen too often even with 4 of us. I was always baffled if I went to a friend's place and they had to ask to have some chips or something. I thought it was weird and a bit controlling, coming from a household with total freedom. I never snacked myself out of being hungry for dinner and all of us kids maintained a healthy weight at least until we were adults. Kids are typically pretty good at knowing when they are and aren't hungry, and that of course fluctuates as they grow! And if they do end up occasionally getting a lot more of their sustenance from snacks (if, for instance, one kid doesn't really like a given dinner) it's not a huge deal in the long run. In the grand scheme of things, it's probably more important that kids develop a healthy relationship to food that they'll carry with them into adulthood

I, too, love the side-by-side fridge. Me, bc the doors are narrow and I have a teeny tiny kitchen. Also, her new side-by-side that came as a set with her new house is deep enough for three gallons of milk! It’s a Fridgidaire. Her French Doot fridge is a Kitchen Aid. It has measured fill in door water/ice. That seemed to be a unique feature.

I do like both configurations, now. Hey, it’s a fridge that works! My side-by-side was my only new fridge and I got it for $800 New Year’s Eve sale at Lowe’s 10 + years ago. I still think of it as new. Smh. My son looks at the L or HD and then finds the same at a scratch and dent Sears outlet. How he got the 4K French door one for $2k.

I am new to commenting on videos. You're my first one. I saw the video about the new refrigerator and wanted to share what's worked for me with the freezer. I felt the same thing when I got my LG refrigerator freezer that had the freezer on the bottom, I was worried food on the bottom would get lost, and in the beginning it did. What has worked well for me is I use our freezer in the garage to store the majority of our groceries that are frozen. At the beginning of the week I put what I need for my week in the freezer in the kitchen. This allows me to control what's in there and not lose sight of anything. By the end of the week generally it's mostly empty except for a few leftovers and anything I haven't used that I thought I would. I found that rotating it this way seems to work the best for us. Love watching your videos.

I think your opinion of the side by side is correct, the total side by side has a skinny fridge and a skinny freezer, that’s the old side by side, what you have is still the same space as a regular fridge for your freezer is kinda the same as a freezer on the top, but a chest freezer. I have the one with the fridge that has an external draw, and then the freezer draw. and we find that we don’t have as much room as our top and bottom, but your new one seems to be a ton of fridge space!! Congrats!!

I will give a word of advice with the enclosed area that the fridge is in, pull it out from the back wall about 6 inches as it doesn’t get enough airflow with the enclosure. We have had to get our compressor replaced 2 different times. Just wanted to share, the first sign is the ice maker will stop & then the fridge doesn’t work anymore, because ice builds up 😔

Your pull out shelf is amazing 😍 We totally have an egg shelf and big old cheese drawer going on 😂 As far as what it holds, when we looked I looked really hard at internal dimensions - I wanted a smallish freezer and big fridge space because we have a stand alone freezer. (We only keep regularly used items in that bottom freezer - veggies we cook with, breakfast fun stuff (frozen yogurt tubes, waffles, etc) and like chicken nuggets or whatever. Everything else is organized in my standing freezer because it’s easier to see

I love how excited you are lol. I was the same way about 2weeks ago. I've been storing food in a mini fridge for 2yrs. We moved into a place that has an apartment size fridge. Went grocery shopping and still have room haha. It's going to take a few shopping trips to fill it haha

I sure miss you doing videos everyday but I’m still binge watching your channel along with Dave’s and Jen’s. I’m thankful for that. It will take me awhile to get thru them all. Then, I don’t know what I will do. LOL. My crochet channels are fillers. Lol. I love them too but if you or Jen’s notification comes up, I stop and watch ya. Look forward to them very much. Crochet is very important to me but ya are so entertaining, funny, and informative, that ya have me hooked. Congratulations on your new fridge. It’s beautiful. You and Jen, both deserved them. Have a great day!! Hope to see you soon!!!😄

OMG -- Soooo happy for you to have scored the new fridge!!! Kudos to Hyacinth for recognizing FFM's channel for the supremely connected family-friendly way to advertise! And OMG-2 -- I've never seen a fridge like this -- those outer fridge/ice dispersers limit cup size, uuuggh. And I've never seen an ice maker in the bottom drawer freezer area with such easy access to the ice -- brilliant!!! Sooo yyyaaaasss, I'm gonna get one for sure!!! I like the divider in the freezer, and the way you designate one side for meats, the other for fruits/vegs. Maybe consider getting some plastic baskets from Dollar Tree to create organized layers in your freezer section.

You can buy rechargeable light bulbs that you can use in your lamps and they will charge during regular use. Good to have a couple for blackout times.
