Everyone has a left a key under a door mat, rock, inside a pot, etc. At some point or another, i don't do it habitually but if you know a guest is coming and you'll be gone during their arrival. Dropping a key off for that occasion doesn't seem as dangerous. That being said if you leave a key their permanently that's a problem.

Actually 3 years ago someone made that 911 phone call for real in my town. Just like this story a cleaning company found an open door and cleaned the wrong house.
