Just swapped mine out this weekend. Same problem, bushing at the motor was bad. All went together smoothly thanks to the help of your entertaining video. Thanks for the help. Dealer wanted over $500, got the part on A1Auto for $125. Cheers!!

I've used painter's tape to hold bolts or nuts in place. Doesn't always work, but another option if gluing isn't available

I broke down and bought the OEM linkage. I am tired of buying crap on eBay made in China and having problems. I had replaced the one on my 2000 tundra a couple years ago. Now it was time for the Sequoia. I didn't know about aligning marks so had to do some evaluation and a little trial and error. The factory linkage has a lip that holds the linkage in place so you can press the ball on the motor arm into the socket on the new linkage. Then unclip it and bolt the motor in. Since I have done both they will last longer than me. :D I had wondered how long the epoxy would last. Way longer than I would have guessed.

Good info, Dennis. You can't go wrong with OEM Toyota. And may your Toyotas have long, productive lives :-).

Not only did I have similar issues doing this, I dropped one of the nuts into the fan that runs the heater blower, which I could not get. Not doing it myself again as a result. This is a "pay someone" job. Also, took me forever to get the motor attached to the transmission.

Great video... very informative and top-notch editing! My 2010 Tundra wipers are just like yours were before your JB Weld attempt. Fixing it asap. For the record, JB Weld fixes almost Nothing! I buy OEM, as much as possible. There's a reason Toyotas last forever, regardless of minor issues like that crappy bushing. I went with a Dorman part for $190.00. Best choice overall, since OEM has the problem in the first place.

Are the nuts not supposed to go on the topside, where you can hold the bolt through from the bottom?

I’m hearing a squeaking sound when the wipers are lifted up away from the glass on my 03 with 100k. Any idea what’s causing that? They seem kinda slow too.

Great video, loved your work arounds and final solution. My intermittent quit working and now the switch started smoking on the steering column in the car when I turn them on - now it quit all together - no more smoke but won't turn on - is it the switch or a bad motor? Can I check the motor with 12VDC? Do I need to remove steering wheel to replace switch?
@FamilyFriendlyDIY
@FamilyFriendlyDIY Жыл бұрын
Thanks! ... To be honest, I'm not sure if you have to remove the wheel, but looking at the part itself, I wouldn't think so. I know the intermittent wiper wipers are glitchy in these. I'm starting to have trouble with mine too. I don't think the problem is the motor.

Forget rain x or whatever it’s called all you need do is cut a potato in half and rub the cut side o the windshield

You could have maybe tried a box wrench of the size of the nuts you were having issues with and put tape on it to hold it inside of the Box wrench and used the wrench with the attached nut to hold under the hole and insert bolt into it.

Good video mate but how do I know its that and not my window wiper motor

Listen for the motor running when you turn the switch on Craig. If you can hear it run, it's not the motor. Also, this is a common problem on these.... However, there is another problem to which these are prone. If your wipers pause in random places on the windshield when in intermittent, or stop in random places when you turn them off, it is the switch in the steering column that has gone bad.... Hope this helps Craig. Thanks for the question!

Yeah, I fucked up big time on mine... the whole wiper wants to do the opposite of what it's supposed to do.. Instead of rotating clockwise it turns counter-clockwise first and it's rest position would make the wipers upright on the windshield. I couldn't wrap my head around how to fix it. Went to disassemble and assemble the whole thing for 5 hrs still couldn't fix it D:
