Great coverage and keep up the great work. Just had a share, many big designer like Versace, Montana and Armani made clothes for other design houses, but didn’t mark their clothes. We used to notice certain styles of these other fashion house and found out they were designed by many well known designers. I think this was commonly done back in the early 80’s and not like now when they get a well known designer design for a established fashion house. Here are some that come to mind- Complice, Jenny, Mario Valentino. there are a few more but can’t think of it now. Oh and I think Montana did the line for Mario Valentino and Armani did the leather . I only knew a few ppl. that knew this and was obsessed like me about fashion back then, but I seldom spoke to fashion ppl. that knew this. This was industry information and most then just wanted the clothes and didn’t go that deep. We used to read WWD when it was like a newspaper and not a magazine style book.

Also, those pieces used are hard to find and you may think it looks like the design of a major designer but for those that don’t remember or was alive yet, it may also be hard to tell bc it all looks 80’s fashion. Certain drawing we back then had little details that made you know it was designed by them, but also often copied.

There’s a book called pattern making for fashion design that I use to design school that’s very useful

I'd say it depends more on what kind of patternmaking you'd like to achieve, but some great places to start are the following: A Guide to Fashion Sewing- Connie Amaden-Crawford Patternmaking for Fashion Design - Helen Armstrong Couture Sewing: Tailoring Techniques- Claire B. Shaeffer Zero Waste Fashion Design - Timo Rissanen, Holly McQuillan Madeleine Vionnet - Betty Kirke The last one is more a study of Vionnet's draping techniques and methods. Happy sewing!

@@BlissFoster Yes, I do read business of fashion, but so ? The best journalism are investigative and they cover both the financial and the subjective side of the matter.
