Got one of these as a "freebee" from my last Blade HQ order. At first I thought this is a useless swag item....but I began carrying it...and using it (daily now multiple times!!!) Good grip ergonomics with the finger cowl allowing sturdy finger grip. Screwdrivers always seems to be size I'm needing, and blades are a breeze to deploy and replace them when dull. This has let me repurpose my EDC knifes for knife tasks and cut boxes, tape, twine, and envelopes with the sidewinder. I now have to sharpen my knives less and no longer get glue on them from "office box opening combat" :-) If I lose it or find a way to wear it out I will get another.

Yea, for opening not tear down. I’ve carried & used severely everyday the craftsman 2.25” folding - one hand opening - lock back with lifetime warranty for at least 5 years. 6 bucks at sears, $15 at Walmart. AND IT COMES IN BLUE TOO! 😁

I happen to appreciate their products, and by that I meant their designs are unique in an outside-the-box kind of way. - The small Wedge knife (looks VERY handy, though not sure they still make it) - The Hossom knife collaborations (not for me though) - The Le Duck fixed blade with the "lock" on the sheath - The Conquer and Divide folders look pretty decent and are inexpensive This one looks nice too. EDIT: Design limits blade length though. Sucks.

The Slidewinder will not take Stanley or Dewalt replacement blades. It seems that the original blade in the Slidewinder is much thinner than any commercially available blade. I have had the company send me a replacement and the design of the Slidewinder will not accept other blades.

same issue here. it didn't take a Milwaukee blade either. I can't believe more people haven't mentioned this as a potential problem.

I ordered one a couple weeks ago and I love it! Your absolutely right though it is a lite duty tool opening packages cardboard ,tape ect. I put about a 2" paracord lanyard on mine to add extra grip and it's perfect. I feel that it's built very well for what it is great review thanks Aaron! Oh yeah Knockarounds are the best glasses hands down I own 7 pairs and can't get enough of them Lol! 👊🤘✌

it looks like it'd dissappear in the coin pocket of most jeans..you could remove the blade before going through TSA then grab some blades when you get to your destination.

I would go with the Gerber for sure. Takes up less room in the pocket and super slim. Great video as always.

I got one. Wearing with belt clip is a bit dicey. As he says, the lock mechanism can give without pushing orange button. Have a small cut to prove it.

I just bought mine, it will be a good replacement for my bottle opener on key hook! Also I will always have a sharp knife if I forget mine main or its dull.

i have two of the old version gerber eab tools, bought one for me and my dad unfortunately they didn't want to replace them when they did the recall on them so i have two of them that have been sitting in the back of a drawer ever since.

Nice review! I have had my slidewinder for 2 weeks now and like it. I wish the blade extended just a little more but the function is fine for my edc needs. I may still get a gerber shard to supplement the drivers and bottle opener when rotating to a different pocket knife.

Thanks for the video. I have one and use it all the time to break boxes down at work. I would not use it for HD jobs like electrical or sheetrock but for small stuff OK. One thing I did not know and why I was watching your video was how to replace the blade. I was looking for the tool size to take it all apart, however, you showed how to remove and replace. Thanks.

Nice vid. Thanks for sharing. Call them Stanley knives in the UK . Stanley 99E will outlast you, plus you can keep spare blades in the handle. Not as compact but a true work horse. Been using them for decades.ATB

Ordered an orange one through your amazon link, I edc a small fixed blade (buck 103) and it's overkill for stuff like cutting tape and paper, this looks like a perfect complement to it.

I think your knife is defective. The slide lock on mine can’t be bypassed. After watching your video I tried and it never failed.

One negative is blade on this model is only .75" the boa, utilipro is 1"

You should take a look at the Screwpop Utility Knife 3.0. I keep it on my keys and I mostly use it as a spare blade holder for my Gerber EAB Lite. Its best to use the Lenox blades with 4 notches to use the blade in 4 different lengths. It has a magnet so you can stick it to your tool box if you need to. It also had a bottle opener but I've never had to use it. I think it would make a great addition to a survival kit or a survival tin if needed.

I've heard the replacement blades are proprietary, and somewhat smaller than standard utility blade replacements. Is this true? Have you tried replacing the blade with standard blades from the hardware store?

I understand why a collector wouldn’t want to use an expensive knife for every day tasks. I am Not sure why someone wouldn’t want to use their “tactical” self defense blade to open a package.

Yosef621 Or why they wouldn’t just use a $11 Ganzo or Sanrenmu with some well-treated 440C. When it stops working, throw it in the trash. I take the clips off them and let them fall to the bottom of my pocket, old school. Way more versatile to have more blade exposed (watch him try to cut that blue/black floor mat) and much safer than something with a plastic button lock.

Anyone know anything about that Husky? I tried looking it up, and it must be a discontinued model. I am looking for something near the size of a gerber EAB but better made. the Husky looked like a solution till I realized they no longer seem to carry it. Any model numbers clones ect would be appreciated. Thanks

I bought one of these and I’ll be honest, I’m horribly disappointed with it. Mine for whatever reason retracts even with very slight pressure pushing on the tip. I find myself having to hold the sliding mechanism to do any sort of hard straight down cut

That blade seems irresharpenable, Outdoor Edge better sell individual blades for replacement, anyways that's a great utility/EDC blade those boxes didn't see that coming

Eh...not for me. Too small and the ergonomics are terrible. Its way overpriced for a half plastic knife. Also, anything with a bottle opener is a gimmick. I've never understood the bottle opener and knife combination. Not a knock on the channel though dude. I still like watching the reviews.
