FATBETTY - New power plant test. Home made RC Truck gets a sensored brushless system.

I stripped Fatbetty back down to the chassis to replace the motor and ESC with a new sensored brushless system.
The other brushed motor was binding up for some reason, so I replaced it.
This system should give me more torque and a bit more top end speed. The motor is about 3600kv.
Because the Axial Transmission is mounted back to front on the chassis I had to program a few settings on the ESC to get it to work correctly. I'm not a big fan of doing the electrics, I prefer building the steel bodies and that sort of thing. Just got to remount the truck cab and reconnect all the electrics properly now.

Simply put, WOW! the detail to the chassis, the torque of the power unit, you can tell it ain't no Tyci, LOL. That is going to be one awesome truck when finished! This kind of project I can only dream of. Congradulations.

Thanks Horst! Hope to have more Fatbetty videos soon. It is still in parts at the moment, got the diesel engine block back on, but still need to rewire and mount the cab. I'm still recovering so I am a bit slow with the RC fixes and video updates but... I have started a new project. Watch this space :o)

She's a very built truck, even if I'm 2 years late saying so. Y'all could change your gearing for better results but y'all likely know that by now. Excellent build again & really enjoy your vids, cheers Bro.

The truck is super low geared. 20:1 ratio wormgear diffs in the axles make it slow. I don't mind though, at 10kgs, if it went fast it would break at speed I think.

Sweet stuff bro. I recently put a sensored brushless motor into my wraith and it is awesome. I wanted to be able to crawl at a low speed, but punch it and fly when I want to. Fun stuff for sure. Looks like it's working great. Thumbs up!

Thanks mate, So far it seems good. Motor didn't get too hot at all. Lots of reduction in them worm drive axles (25:1). Not to sure how much two and a half bricks weigh, but it is a bit for a toy truck. I noticed today one set of dualies seems a bit loose, lots of resistance from the tires when turning under weight on concrete.

cyanidetube I checked this brick at my house but its alittle bit smaller. its around 13 pounds for 2 1/2 thats still pretty heavy. those are cool shocks too..

Awesome build:-) Is it right that there are no springs and dampers on the rear axles, only the sway construction? do you know the complete gearing from motor to the wheels? try to find the right gearing for my M62, it´s still too fast

The lack of springs/dampers on the back is just the way I built it. I tend to lean on the side of "Tonka" more than "Scale RC" when it comes to that stuff. At the slow speed it runs at it don't need it too much. Not sure of the gearing exactly, but the worm drives are 25:1 reduction, not sure what the Axial transmission gearing is, I used standard pinion/gear the same as a AX-10, but can not remember them.

Have you tested maximal weight of payload that this construction can drive to the top along an inclined surface as in a video?

No, not sure maximum payload is. The differentials are 25:1 reduction, so think it will have lots of torque, but it is only a 4x6 so not very capable off road.

The motors are basic HobbyWing 3200kv brushless. Gearbox is a standard Axial AX-10 transmission. Axles are 25:1 reduction worm gear axles from RC4WD.

Awesome build but you should really get a multi speed transmission so you don't burn that motor or esc

There is no room for a multispeed tranny in the truck. Have had no problem with the brushless system since it was put in.

No room. I would have to cut up the cab floor to get it to fit in, and I do not want to cut up the truck cab.
