I know the CA and Baking Soda trick as a plastic filler, but I would have never thought of colored crafting sand. What a great spin on this Peg! What a personalized gift.

At first I was thinking, " man you just ground away decades of strikes on this hammer " but by the end, this turned out to be a great artful gift for your dad. That's a showpiece. I'm sure he's proud. Happy father's day from MO

That is a really nice restoration. I like your use of the Japanese saw. CA is Cyano Acrylate... Superglue. Originally designed for use in the medical field to stop bleeding without sutures.

Correct! Just recently got that saw. Don’t know how I got on without it before.

Incorrect The original patent for cyanoacrylate was filed in 1942 by the B.F. Goodrich Company for clear plastic gun sights for the aeronautics industry.
