Great job =D I've got a 1002 too that's been sat here for a long while that needs my attention lol. Where were you probing when that 2nd unit stopped working? My first guess would be the BTL driver chip. Usually has two metal tabs - one on either side to heat sink it. That's most likely if it's not spinning or bobbing up and down I think. Regards shipping - yes, its a big problem! Lots of people just don't care at all when shipping these things. That 1002 I have yet to look at has a broken port cover (which I have glued) - again because it was in the worst packaging ever...
